the reason that diddy kong racing ds was released was because microsoft are not intrested in the handheld market. so nintendo got to publish it.

@masturfun123 you really can't compare the two games. I played both games starting when i was 2. Both were the first video games (it took me about the same amount of time to beat... ten years... give me a breake i was 2!) DK gives me a nastalgic happy feeling, whear as ocorina will always have a place in my heart as the most compelling game ever made

I'm very much aware of that, but when a Rare executive was asked in an interview if DK64 would be on Virtual Console, the exec said that it's more likely to be released on DS. I know I'm getting my hopes up, but since all other Rare DK games (DKC, DKC2, DKC3, Diddy Kong Racing) Have been remade for a hand held, then Donkey Kong 64DS is very foreseeable. The exec was also asked about the possibility of Donkey Kong Country 4 WiiWare, the exec said that's completely up to Nintendo. BK on XBLA!!!!!!

If they do make that...scratch that, they won't make it. All of the charactrs except for Diddy belong 100% to rare. It's too much. DK64 is very unlikely as well. However I do think think DKC4 is alot more likely.

Microsoft was looking for a quick first party. Rare was got an offer that was higher than what Nintendo was giving. Where it really becomes fucked up is Rare can make portable games for anyone and they can be published by Mircosoft that's what I call a cluster fuck.

Why a petition wouldn't work:

Nintendo owns DK.

Microsoft owns Rare.

Rare made the DK adventure games (DKC, DK64).

Nintendo probably won't let Rare make a DK game for the 360.

Microsoft probably won't let Rare make a DK game for the Wii.

So, unless Rare leaves Microsoft, a Rare-made DK game isn't going to happen ever again. Nintendo could make a DK adventure game, But it probably wouldn't be as good as the Rare-made ones. I hope Rare leaves Microsoft, though. /cross fingers for new DK

Sorry man but DK is a nintendo character. DK stayed with nintendo and there are 4 Dk games on gamecube and one on wii. First Donkey Kong was made by Nintendo on nes. But I hope that Rare leaves Microsoft because their games on X360 suck. Rare is the best when they work with Nintendo.

dk jungle beat was a GREAT GAME!!! One of the most underrated games on the Gamecube. The donkey konga games are alright if you're a music drummer like myself, or just like music games. But yeah other than that, you're right. Even the remake of diddy kong racing was crap, though rare was responsible for that bad remake and not nintendo.

I'd like to break the DK64 fanatism, dont take it as an offence please but i really didnt enjoy this game. Rare added very much collecting objects of various colors in order to keep the total game time on a decent level. Clearly an effect of lack of memory on the cartridges for more levels. Pity. It's an extremely well made game but so repetative.

No CD based game has ever required you to collect items ever because they're all FMV and not interactive at all! Generalizations are fun! :)

Then how about stop generalizing? ;) According to Rare, that was their major problem when working with N64 titles. So it's no generalizing involved. The N64 had a lot of good titles and all, yet we all remember the high costs and the tecnichal limitations. Rumours say Banjo Kazooie 3 is on its way, let's hope so! =)

i don't like this game at all. i got if for christmas when i was like 11 and it was such a disappointment.

it was the most boring repetitive pointless collect-em-up in the world. i couldn't get into it at all. the SNES Donkey Kong games are 10 billion times better.
