    Is that the landing gear?

  • @TheKeyWestian Nope - that was putting in landing flap. The gear was already down just as I entered the pattern. Don't want to forget the gear! :) Thanks for watching. Bruno

  • Very nice and u cam in steep but u leveld out nicely and next time dont waste az much runway

  • beautifully done!

  • Why did you put flaps to neutral on the ground run? Surely that is just putting more stress on to the undercarriage by suddenly getting rid of all that lift it creates?

Very clean looking glider though, very nice.

  • @wujay Actually put the flaps in negative position. This is the manufacturer's suggested method for landing because it improves aileron control. You also get better braking with the lift gone. The glider's manual suggests landing this way so most ASW20 pilots do this.

  • Hey man, I really like all you video's, pretty cool location to fly, I was wondering, how

do you guys fly the landing circuit, Here (Holland) we usually winch and that is a major reference point, how do you do that ? Take care ;)

  • @OdinMovies We fly the typical downwind, base and final as a standard. Of course if you get back to the airport low you do whatever it takes to land. :)

  • Hey, great landing. I started flying gliders in the UK nearly two years ago, and I have not yet seen / flown a glider with flaps. What's the difference between flaps and airbrakes?

  • my friend who also has an ASW-20 calls them jesus flaps, he sais its because of the noise the pilot makes when he first opens them, i didn't hear you scream.

  • Hey Bruno, I just wanted to say that I wanted to fly gliders for over 10 years. After discovering your videos last year I finally told myself "What are you waiting for"! I joined a club during the fall and have been having a blast!

That being said, flaps are a mystery to me at this point in my new hobby.

  • @n7ton Thanks for the nice note. How cool that you joined a club and are flying!!! Yeah! Pretty amazing how stinking fun soaring is huh? Keep it up and please share some of your own soaring videos when you can. Take care and be safe. Bruno

  • Nice landing, what amount of flaps do you use on takeoff?

  • @zulu21212 On takeoff I start out in negative flaps which gives the ailerons more effect at the slow speeds and then at around 30 knots I transition into neutral flaps for lift off. Bruno

  • Nice landing!

It didn't look very steep on the film, but I'v seen my clubs ASW20 landing many times and it looks very steep with full landingflaps! Unfortunately our lovely ASW20 was grounded in 2009 before I ever got to fly it. It's wingtanks was once filled with acid-water and many years later, we found them to be quite rotten. :-(

  • Keep them coming!!!

  • I have missed glider videos over the winter, hope to see more soon. Love the channel

  • Lovely channel and video! Thanks for sharing!

  • I always enjoy watching your video adventures.

I had to watch it twice, as I could not work out why you landed under a shadow. It was like you had flown under a bridge!!

It was was the long shadow from the control tower !!!

  • Good vid! Adding to my aviation gliding playlist.
