Thanks so much for your inspirational videos, you gave me not only reason to buy a tenori-on, but also a reason to begin to learn to play it with heart and sensitivity. @gattobus no way! thats un real i dont believe it? how do u sequence with no screan, is that little green screen at the bottom the only thing you used?
Ok First off THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR FINALLY USING THE TENORI-ON CORRECTLY! This is a new "instrument" and not a freaking beat machine! Everyone grabs it and goes ape shit with layering beats and tones... that is not what this was made for. Anyways, thank you for not acting like a three year old with paint and a blank piece of paper like everyone else (besides "litle boots") keep up the good work and show the world that this is a real instrument and not a playtoy for the simple minded with money.
I am still just dinking around with mine, but I have had synths and sequencers before. This is a whole new deal. Who would have thought a whole new world of music would open up to me at 60?!
superb.........guess this goes to show you... pro tools and a million VSTis have their places, but nothing beats simplicity.....in the words of a great engineer "less is more" great stuff mate.
This is a 16-beat sequencer; you see a line travel left to right, playing notes that vary in pitch (up and down positions). When it hits a note you see a shape light up. He can create several "layers" which are different sequences. He lets each sequence run twice but then flips it to the next "layer" (presses a certain button and then one of the 16 vertical lines, you notice a line momentarily) so it sounds like a tune with variations. You notice he then jumps back to the beginning...
...and plays the simple first sequence, but uses yet another of the 10 buttons to flip it to "bounce" mode, where different notes on the left-right axis make "bouncing" sounds of different speeds depending on how high up he presses. One button "transposes" sound sequences to a new pitch but he didn't flip that one. Yet another button lets you choose a sound and a vertical and horizontal line both light up, pinpointing one of 256 sounds in the sound-bank.
I made a small mistake. It wasn't a "bounce" mode but a "solo" mode where he played some single notes which kept repeating and he could vary the repeat speed by sliding his finger up and down that note-row.
The future of music in our hands at this very moment.... I must obtain one as fast as possible and become totally engrossed in creating genre-less music to no limits!!!
@gattobus Is there any differences in term of capabilities (other than not having battle capabilities) between the more expensive tenori-on and the less expensive one?
@gattobus Is there any differences in term of capabilities (other than not having battery capabilities) between the more expensive tenori-on and the less expensive one?
@gattobus Are there any difference in capabilities between the two different tenori-on devices, other than the less expensive orange one doesn't have battery capabilities?
(continued)...Hopefully the Tenori-On will catch fire as users develop what to do with it. There is a famous science fiction book called CHILDHOOD'S END by Arthur C. Clarke, where aliens come to Earth and promote and observe the evolution of humans. The children, the new generation, undergo a transformation but the older generation can't follow them. This kind of musical instrument with its intuitive interface is something the young will take to new heights of music.
This is aces! And you declare it's all Tenori-On based. Awesome. I see a lot of demos of twiddling the thing, but this is smooth and complete as a composition, it has mood and feeling. It would fit in the climax of a movie where the protagonist asks, "My girlfriend left me, should I slit my wrists or try to get her back by making a mad dash to the airport before she boards her plane?" lol No seriously, great work...cont'd.
I'm in awe of what you achieved on the Tenori-on - you are a very talented musician and you have inspired me to have a go at creating my own music, something which I've always wanted to do : ) Thank you for posting.
Creating music is very democratic; go for it, man! Get some kind of keyboard and make it work with a computer music editor. I made a few videos of a few of my humble compositions. Every computer is a powerful graphic music editor and a music-CD factory these days; simply unbelievable.
