  • You guys are god this saves me from having to buy a $200 HD PVR and at the same time i can play games from my PC

    Thx Alot!

  • can you use this for older consoles like n64 nes snes dreamcast ps2 i would really like this with n64 if it does work im sold

  • yes i can record my xbox360 now

  • I'm selling one of these if anyone is interested message me

  • Couple of questions about the product....

Does this work on a mac book pro?

So the bottom line is that you have to have internet access to use the product? Does my console have to be connected to the internet?

If you want to play on a computer that is about 30 ft from the TV, do you need an internet connection, or is there some type of connection to use?

If I have internet access on my computer, can I play XBox Live?

  • I have a question. If i use this to play my xbox 360 while i am on vacation, how do i play the games? I mean i can't use my xbox controller can i since i will be thousands of miles away the wireless obviously wouldn't work. Can i plug my controller into my computer or something? Please could you shed some light on this topic because i am very interested in buying this.

  • I read you can plug into your computer's USB

  • You can buy a USB adapter for your wireless X360 controller, and then plug your X360 controller into a USB port on your laptop to play. You should also note that the X360 requires an X360 controller to be plugged into it for security validation (thanks MSFT - not!), so you'll need to also buy a wired X360 controller (suggest Madcatz for $19.95) and leave that plugged into your X360 console at home while you are travelling.

  • Have you guys settled on a possible ship date? I am ready to purchase, but I needed to know whether I would be charged now on my credit card or at time of shipment?

  • Still settling, it's a matter of sufficient testing and quality at this point. We won't charge your card until shipment.

  • Will there be support to use a keyboard and mouse as a controller ?

  • Yes, there is support to use keyboard and mouse as your game controller - this will work for all five supported console types.

  • Awesome. What about a future iPod/iPhone App ?

  • Can't comment on that... :-)

  • can this turn the console on and off?

  • Yes, the power button on the Spawn Player turns the console on/off using an infrared transmitter that is included with the HD-720.

  • Will an Acer Aspire One work?

  • Looks like that comes with Linux OS, and we don't have a Linux software player yet, so I don't think so, sorry!

  • What if I buy it from my NYC home and take it with me to my holiday home in France? Will it work there as well? I want to plug it on my consoles in France... An answer to that question would be great.

  • Comment removed

  • Yes, that will work. You'll just need a plug adapter for the power supply of course.

  • I have a few questions about the "SpawnBox":

Do you get the console interface or only the game when the player is launched?

Is it possible to launch the software without going to the web page?

In the future will there be an application for mobile devices with the same functionality as the PC version?

  • You get the whole console interface, so you can access all console features. Yes, you can launch the Player and connect without going to the web page - but only when you are at home. Re: mobile devices, that's a roadmap issue that we can't discuss publicly. Thanks for your questions!

  • I really want to be convinced that this product will allow me to play from my console while I travel, but I have seen a few references in articles that mention it is not recommended for cross country use.

  • This is so stupid. Its easier to travel with your videogame.

  • I'm afraid you don't understand the product. There are lots of places you travel without a TV or console. Also, this lets you place on your console/TV at home while your friends play with you in the same game from their laptop without having to come over to your house.

  • Looks like a cool product. Where can I find out more info?

  • i have a crappy laptop would that work?

  • You can play in standard definition using a crappy laptop, but probably not high definition. A $500 standard dual-core laptop today will support HD play, so I'm guessing you mean something old and truly crappy in your question.

  • wait.... why not just buy a VGA cable. i mean it's like 5 bucks compared to this 200 buck box.

  • The SpawnHD allows you to play your home consoles from a remote location like another room, the backyard patio, your favorite coffee shop.

You can even allow your friend who lives out of town and doesn't own the same console+games to play a local co-op game with you.

You will not find a $5 VGA cable capable of that.
