@idiotjerkimbecile I love Prefuse 73, RJD2, and Bonobo, but Simon (Bonobo) has a greater variety of sound overall and in my opinion more enjoyable. RJD2 is more fitting to a skate video because he is more soulful and punchy then Prefuse and Bonobo. You just have to find the right song by him that is not too repetitive. Its not his fault, its that most of his songs are the instrumentals to rap songs by other artists like Aceyalone. Also check out Amon Tobin, Quantic, and Thievery Corporation!

It's not out of rhythm. It's called syncopation man, it's still perfectly in time, the emphasis is just on the off-beat. Speaking as a drummer, I think the beat is absolutely phenomenal and I'd much rather listen to this than the standard Kicksnarekickkicksnare variety.

....and if you want to get even more music-nerdy about it, it breaks into a hemiola pattern at 0:45. You can feel the bassline in a slower 4 pattern, and at the same time feel the drums at a fast 3+3+3+3+4 pattern (or feel it in syncopation). Two different rhythm groupings going at the same time = hemiola. Brilliant. :)
