The robot did read all the faces, then computed movements of solutions, then just did it.

theres a sequence to solve a rubiks cube everytime, you just have to continue along the sequence for long enough untill it reslves itself, the ''robot'' and i use that term loosely is simply following a sequence, it has no levels of inteligence and is merely following a sequence.
