@josh1303 0 MPG gain, that is not what the tune is about. If you want both you need to get a programmer which is not customized for your truck and setup. To me, it was very worth it, it really opened the truck up. When I first got it, I was a little disturbed how it wasnt 100hp faster than the 5.3 I just turned in (The new 5,3 at that.).
Why does GM not make it respond like how the BB tune did. Why did you have to tune it, isn't it good the way it is stock?? I am just curious about it. Does it void your warranty?
@xertechx Ur not the only person i've heard that from, my old man had an 09 silverado wit flowmaster exhaust, knn intake, spacer n a custom tune, sonewhere around 380 hp wit everything, then he got an 2011 wit the 5.3 and it feels awesome as fast if not as fast, point here being that chevy under rates the hp of the 5.3, so theres prolly not a 100hp gap between the 2 motors but thats just our opinion
@omniffetz Yes. I had an 01 Chevy Silverado Ext Cab 5.3 that I did every bolt on you could do with out getting into the motor and with just a tune, CAI, and Muffler my 2011 GMC Sierra Denali 6.2 will walk a way from my 01. The GMC is also heiver. My 01 would would run 14.5s in a quater and 11.70s in an 8 on regular unleaded. Not Sure what the 2011 will do yet but I'm sure it's faster.
Which magnaflow do you have on it? I have a 2011 Tx edition SIlverado with a 6.2 and welded up #12909 magnaflow. It took a few months to break in so to speak.
@SFBay69 I am honestly not sure, I would have to find the receipt. I kept the stock piping and had a reducer put on to fit the muffler. I also kept the resonator, I dont like drone.
OK, cool...so you left the 3.5" stock tubing, and put on a 3" in/out Magnaflow? Must be the 22" version then? Sorry for the nitpicking, just trying to make sure I understand. I am sure the intake also adds some cool sound, but I will probably not be doing the intake.
@keithpanza I was you before I did this, so dont apologize. Yes, I did exactly that.. Dont waste your time with intake, the gains arent worth the money. Get a cam or headers. I wish I did...
Can you tell me exactly which Magnaflow you used? Did you keep the stock resonator, or delete it? I am having Justin do my tune in a couple of weeks, your truck sounds JUST like I want mine to sound ('10 6.2L Silv)! Love your video! Thanks for any info you can give me...
@xertechx Ok, thanks. But it wasn't a "Race Muffler", right? Just a regular Magnaflow, probably oval shape? 22" body maybe? I didn't remember seeing any 3.5" Magnaflow mufflers last time I looked, but I will look again. Maybe you put on a 3" version? Your truck sounds very nice, that is why I am asking all the questions, would love to replicate it! Can't wait to get Justin to tune it, he's only an hour away from me now...
That is really fast man and sounds damn good. 0-60 in 5 seconds or under is really good it's a hoss for a gas burner! I have a 5.3 and have done everything to my truck lift everyhting but haven't messed with the motor yet. I plan on getting Volant cai and BB Tune!
@jakec2704 I didnt even launch properly either. When you do decide to get a BB tune as Justin if you need to wait to put the intake on, I had to because we needed to see stock vs intake to get the right tune. Then again, we did it on a dyno.
@xertechx Oh okay man that's still pretty damn good even if you didn't get a proper launch. I say you hit 0-60 at about 4.9 seconds which is really good. I would say a Duramax and your 6.2 would be close with that tune but that's a stock duramax. I'm still debating if i wanna give him my stock computer and get the tune for cheaper or what. What did you do? Let me know bud.
@jakec2704 Your mainly going to gain shift points and top speed from the tune. The truck will feel and go way faster but the HP gain is minimal. I dyno tuned it because Justin wanted to know how it would react.
@xertechx Oh okay man. Well either way that's really good and if you do any other mod's to increase hp/torque will improve allot more. I plan on regearing my truck with 4.56's because i will be runnin 35/12.50 nitto trail grapplers and 20x12 fuel hostages. I have a 7.5 inch lift but will be adding a 4 inch zone body lift before too long. I will need the tune along with the gears and Cai to let my truck run as it did stock or just slightly above and will be happy.
fuck yea thats nice man i have a 09 silverado 6.2 with a corsa exhaust and cold air intake been wanting to get a custom tune i for sure will after watching your truck love how it shifts what rpm does it shift at?
I Have a 2011 Sierra with a 6.2L. I put a K&N CAI. Im going to order a Mass air flow sensor and a throttle body spacer. That should give me some power
Was the BB tune worth it? How much was it? How is your MPG gone up?

@ThisKid0327 You are right, the 5.3 is such a strong impressive engine. I doubt the true gap is 100hp.

@ThisKid0327 Thats with no launch and traction control on. I need to make a new video soon, it has got a tad faster.

is the 6.2 that much faster than the 5.3 please reply

@omniffetz I have had both, and yes, especially after the tune. 5.3 is still a good power plant, it is just what you are getting it for.

@xertechx Well good luck with luck with your new child! I am going with arh for mine. I think maybe a cam is too much for a daily driver.
