I have had a lot of huskies and they are big pack dogs. So when u get to or more together they will rank each other to see who is more alpha male or female just like who wolves do. And you have to let them go at it some times until one summit to the other one.
My Husky is about 9 months now and she's a sweetheart. I have a miniature poodle who is 9 YEARS old and he just likes to be cuddled up with me constantly. But when they're together (Imagine the size difference lol) She's constantly kicking his butt, very gently :p He has arthritis and hurts easily but she still makes sure he knows she's boss just cuz he's tiny. He tries to mount her to show his dominance and he can't even reach lol
Huskies are very gentle dogs, but are one of the oldest breeds of dogs in the world. This means they are some of the most closely related to their ancestors, the wolves. Even though most if not all of the aggression has been bred out of these dogs towards humans they still have their primal instincts in a pack. This isnt necessarily playing more like keeping the chain of command. They wont hurt each other when they do this though simply show who is boss. After that is settled theyll be best buds
Youll see that the dog on his/her back in the beggining wasnt looking at the other dog, This means the dog was ignoring the other dog because the other one was currently dominant, For some reason the dog on its back felt that the dominance should be his/hers and tried challenging the other the dog thus equaling into the dominant role being change because that dog ended up on top and the other dog ended up on bottom. The darker one was unsure of its role or chain of command.
PS: Huskies are not agressive to humans exept they where abused by one. To each other they can be pretty violent to settle their dominance issues...(I hope igot this right... english isnt my first language...)
Started out as playing and the lighter one didnt want to... so he geva the other one a hint to stop it. He didnt want to get told what to to so he went from playing to a serious talk about ranks... See this every day with my huskies. Let them fight it out for about one minute... when they havent decided then whos the boss you intervene. Dont forget: YOU ARE THE ALPHA (Bruce Kibbuz)
Ok, I own (2) Siberian Huskies, both female, and they are 1/2 sisters. They play like this and even more aggressive EVERY day! The Dominant female chases the submissive female around the yard, Grabbing her by the leg, Biting her at the back of the neck, shaking her, etc.. 5 minutes later they are laying in the same dog house curled up together. I agree, this is a dominance issue and if they were fighting, there would be blood...
It doesn't matter what the so-called "Dog Whisperer" says. Check out videos of him that clearly show dogs fighting because of his failure to read body language. The man isn't who he tries to portray himself as.
Now, on to the dogs, this is a dominant behavior. This isn't a fight, just an assertion of dominance. If dogs fight, there is blood. Male on male dominance displays such as this are quite common, especially in the Northern breeds, since they are closest to their wolf ancestors genetically
Start watching Dog Whisperer. Everything you would want to know about dog pyschology is in there! The dominant dog does not see you as the pack leader, that's why he feels free to dominate the other dog. Hopefully, you have been able to work this all out.
Well, I have 3 siberian huskies. 2 tuxedo's (1m, 1f), and a pure white wooly coat. Huskies are most certainly not an aggressive breed, however they are prejudice. They prefer their own breed, and it is typically more difficult to keep two males in the same home, due to the dominance issue. But what you see in this video is the two huskies are playing, and it gets a little too serious. Which isn't uncommon.
I think that they are playing. Taht's the way my Attila is playing with his sister Kona...My neighbours firts thought that they are gonna kill eachother, but at the end they were walking beside like nothing happened.
it started out as fun but escalated... I just got a second husky and this has been happening to us...luckily they seem to stop before anything really bad happens...
here's a thought put the camera down and stop the scrum...what if one of the dogs hurt the other but you were too concerned with filming it for youtube...fail
When ANY behavior is allowed, it becomes "learned behavior", deemed allowed by you. Through play, canines are ALWAYS establishing dominance. It's hard wired, nothing personal. This can change back in forth between dogs.
But to handlers that want respect as a dominant. (Alpha)
You need to understand behavior, and communicate it through calm yet assertive energy. No yelling, No hitting, just action. In front of me, they aren't allowed to admonish one another. Keeps my authority.
No fighting as to what Humans think of as fighting.
A true fight would of resulted in much worse with you all trying to break it up.
I would need to more particulars like; Is this their first meeting? Do they know each other? Are they related? All can carry entirely different meanings.
From this video, it appears that they were sorting out dominance.
Being a behaviorist, I see this to many degrees everyday.
They noise often rattles people, but if you ever spent time with wolves.....
Alot of dogs will start off playing and then get annoyed with one another. Which your two dogs clearly did, then they begin to fight. It can be dangerous if one is stronger. But it looks to me like they are about even. They should be ok, but you can try to train that out of them.
I believe, as many others do, that this started out as playing and then turned into a dominance issue. Huskies do play very rough though, and it can be interpreted as a fight. I have found (and read somewhere) that Huskies have a very low pain tolerance. My husky had a low threshold for pain. So it might not be as bad as you think. I saw the less dominant dog submitting pretty quick, so it could have possibly ended before you stopped it. I would keep an eye on them though. Good luck.
I am SO sick of people who seem to have not done any research on the Siberian Husky and therefore claim they are part wolf. This couldn't be farther from the truth. The Yorkie is more closely related to the wolf than the Husky is. In the post below this one I am copying and pasting an exerpt straight from the Siberian Husky Club of America's website, which sets the standards for this purebred DOG. I have run out of room to post in this one.
@spazers27 The Siberian Husky is, and has for centuries been, a purebred DOG -- not a wild, half-wolf, cross-bred creature, as the uninformed may suggest. The breed was originally developed by the Chukchi people of northeastern Asia as an endurance sled dog. In 1909, the first large numbers of these Chukchi dogs were brought to Alaska to compete in the long-distance All-Alaska Sweepstakes races, and the Alaskan dog drivers quickly recognized the ability of these huskies from Siberia.
The same thing happened with my husky - she is a very dominant bitch and wants every other dog to know that she is the alpha dog. In contrast to what you said in the description - i have found male huskies to be quite calm whereas my bitch is extremely aggressive towards other dogs. Therefore, i don't think it is necessarily a gender issue, but circumstantial on the individual dog. How did everything turn out? gorgeous dogs btw
I would say that they started playing, and then there were hierarchy issues to work out, and so in very canine terms, they were figuring out who is above who in the pack. I have a male (not castrated) that fights with other males this way. He's never tried to really hurt another dog, and I don't agree with the person that said that huskies are aggressive (that's a pretty dumb statement, actually) but males are pretty dominant. Now with females... ;)
OMG do i need to say it they where fighting but for territory becuase males dont get along well with other males if their in ones territory and same with females but they tend not to fight as much as males.
They were fighting. I know because I got 3 huskies and 1 malamute and I had some problems when they were all together. Huskies try to attack the malamute in this same way. So, keep watching theme!!! Their bites could hurt you and someone of them!
I have had sibes for years and that was a fight. If the smaller dog had not submitted it could have gotten bad. I,ve learned that they have to settle their pack order and for them thats just the way it is. My sibes would never go that far in front of me (pack leader) but yours stopped when you told them , thats great....
I don´t think they´re actually trying to kill each other. More than a fight they are showing dominance behavior. It's normal that two dominant dogs try to show the another one who's the boss. The owner (That means you) should become a lider for both of them. If they respect you as their lider, they won't fight between them to get that title.
It started off as play, then turned into a dominance scruffle..
The play got to carried away, that one of the dogs felt the need to reasert his dominance over the other.. The dog that was on the ground, was reacting out of fear, and insecurity.
i had two huskies at one point and my pure bred looked just like your dark brown one. I believe that was a strike of dominance and the lighter one learned its lesson quickly and they both got over it quickly. I think in the very end of the fight they understood their places and that's why its tail was wagging afterwards.
the wolf blood in them causes them to fight for dominance. in my opinion spay neuter or separate them. personally I'm against sterilizing dogs. my suggestion would be to separate them. give one away or let them out one at a time
It looks similar to how 2 unneutered dogs would fight! Are they both males and unneutered, cause that wouldn't be surprising. Also who's house is this, whenever you introduce any dog to your own or someone elses no matter how friendly, it should always be on neutral ground. That's a disaster waiting to happen...both beautiful dogs though!!! What was the purpose for the introduction? Another Siberian playmate?
Yeah that definitely was a fight. I agree with you completely, the dogs should be altered. Don't usually see that in two dogs who aren't competitive (aka neutered!)
Husky are pack dogs this kinda thing happins with this breed. It's good you stopped them right away! Sled dog owners carry break sticks because sled dogs often fight when they are not pulling the sled. They way to stop them is let them play and every time they show aggression stop them. Reward only good behavior in a calm way because this a very high strung breed!
ive got a lab x collie (9 mnth old) and it plays very rough with my friends dog (1 yr 6 mnth) some times teath baring burse up but they dont seem to hurt eachother just being rough.recently his dog bites and grips onto my dogs neck makein growling noises and my dog just stands looking the otheer way and wont play .and if his dog doest stop mines shows its teeth. is this just his dominating mine ?? and even if his is dominant can dominance change like can mine suddenly become dominant over his.
I know you posted this video a while ago, but Im going to respond anyway. Im assuming that the meeting place was already the home of one of the dogs. Just watching the video Id guess a lot of that is dominance fighting caused by the outsider dog trying to establish himself as the alpha there. Whenever you introduce dogs to each other for the first time you want to take them somewhere neutral. Keep them on leashes, let them sniff each other and reward them when they get along.
I think they were playing to begin with, and then either one dog got to rough or the other dog just had enough, and just let the dog no who was boss. it was a dominant thing, but they'll be fine :)
my huskies do this too from time to time but then later run around with eachother. so im pretty sure its a dominance issue although its certainly not something pretty to see, i dont know why they have to do it though
They started off as playing and it escalated to fighting. It's normal for huskies that are trying to establish their role. The alpha male tends to be more aggressive and tries to assert himself as the leader. He'll challenge members of the pack often when he feels that his position is threatened or challenged.
That wasn't that bad of a fight...Bitches fight worse, if you've ever broken up drivey German Shepherds. It's near impossible, no commands, water, mace, or anything could break them up. Also it's best not to yell when your dogs get in a fight, in general that makes a lot of dogs fight even harder and get more aggressive. The best thing is to be silent, and walk over, and pull them away by the back legs. One person with one dog, you with the other
you cant say husky males dont get along with other males cos thats crap, do you not think when theyre used as a pack in dog sledding they have to work as a team?
and it is actually reccomended that you get huskies in a pair because they are pack dogs.
but asides from that i think the male dog is constantly trying to dominate the female and show her hes in control and she doesnt like it but its just pack mentality.
obviously if either are injured from these fights id suggest seeking help.
I could be wrong here but if you pause at 0:47 as Harley circles nearing Dewey, she looks to me like she's in a charge posture: her ears are forward, her fur bristled, tail up and legs rigid whereas Dewey looks less intimidating and his ears are at the sides, hard to see though and I'm not sure exactly who started the fight, looks like a fight to me, but note Dewey pursued poor Harley relentlessly at the begining and ended standing over her pinned on her back,
clearly that was fighthing!!dont u see them snarl at each other i should know i own one just like da one here and when he snarls hes fucking pissed.plus huskies are an aggreasive breed i should know ive studied this breed alot!!and husky males dont get along well with other males
lol...have you study this breed or are you just saying that? Husky are not aggressive! They do not make good guard dogs and they are pack oriented which means they love to be accompany by other dogs/human. I've asked a proffessional dog trainer and she said that it was just a dominace issue.
@pa0Chang acualy i know a lot about this breed and they were fighting you should lissen to how they were growling and snarling and they were hurting each other
@pachucoOC you are mentally retarded. If you had actually done any research on siberian huskies you would see that they are rarely aggressive towards anything, infact they are one of the most friendliest breeds of dog you can get
@pachucoOC Are you dumb? ,y family has been breeding huskies for 4 generations. not once did a husky try to kill another dog.All dogs do this, its dominance thing. Yes they have a very high prey drive (but can be weeded out)
playing they play very rough it looks like they are trying to kill each other but its like their own kink of U.F.C it you want them to stop next time they play like that hit both of them in the nose
oh and if you do plan to breed do you have a contract where the owner returns the dog to you if they can no longer keep it? Most reputable breeders have this sort of thing to insure that their puppies are not abandoned or dropped off in a shelter.
Huskys try to be very dominate when it comes to other dogs that form a threat. They fight over territory. You can tell just by looking at the video. This will continue to happen for a while until they both establish where there territories are in the house and decide to live with eachother. You might want look at getting rid of one if this continues. It could form a threat to you or younger kids that are around. Hope this helps.
huskys play rough....in the beggining it was play....and by the looks of it could have turned into them trying to assert dominance. both could be equals and trying to find where they fit in the pack. i personally would let em figure it out on their own over time. everything should turn out ok, but supervise just to be sure.
I have had a lot of huskies and they are big pack dogs. So when u get to or more together they will rank each other to see who is more alpha male or female just like who wolves do. And you have to let them go at it some times until one summit to the other one.

They started off as playing and it escalated to fighting. It's normal for huskies that are trying to establish their role. The alpha male tends to be more aggressive and tries to assert himself as the leader. He'll challenge members of the pack often when he feels that his position is threatened or challenged.

@Urbanshowoffadm U couldnt have described it better thats exactly what happened.

One person with one dog, you with the other
sheeve07 3 years ago
i think you should have broken them up because they male might think it's okay to fight with her but it shouldn't be tolerated

you cant say husky males dont get along with other males cos thats crap, do you not think when theyre used as a pack in dog sledding they have to work as a team?
and it is actually reccomended that you get huskies in a pair because they are pack dogs.
but asides from that i think the male dog is constantly trying to dominate the female and show her hes in control and she doesnt like it but its just pack mentality.
obviously if either are injured from these fights id suggest seeking help.

therefore my guess is Dewey is the dominant one and when she challenged him had to put her in her place I hope that helps
vvelvettearss 3 years ago
I could be wrong here but if you pause at 0:47 as Harley circles nearing Dewey, she looks to me like she's in a charge posture: her ears are forward, her fur bristled, tail up and legs rigid whereas Dewey looks less intimidating and his ears are at the sides, hard to see though and I'm not sure exactly who started the fight, looks like a fight to me, but note Dewey pursued poor Harley relentlessly at the begining and ended standing over her pinned on her back,

whichever the darker one is..is definately the instigator
the lighter one is running around and playing and the dark one feels like he has to control the situation and control the lighter one
that is definately a fight my friend
BlueFlame1365 3 years ago
clearly that was fighthing!!dont u see them snarl at each other i should know i own one just like da one here and when he snarls hes fucking pissed.plus huskies are an aggreasive breed i should know ive studied this breed alot!!and husky males dont get along well with other males
pachucoOC 3 years ago
lol...have you study this breed or are you just saying that? Husky are not aggressive! They do not make good guard dogs and they are pack oriented which means they love to be accompany by other dogs/human. I've asked a proffessional dog trainer and she said that it was just a dominace issue.

CORRECTION: They were NOT trying to kill each other if that's what you mean. But they were actually fighting.

@pachucoOC you are mentally retarded. If you had actually done any research on siberian huskies you would see that they are rarely aggressive towards anything, infact they are one of the most friendliest breeds of dog you can get
skux1234 1 year ago
@pachucoOC Are you dumb? ,y family has been breeding huskies for 4 generations. not once did a husky try to kill another dog.All dogs do this, its dominance thing. Yes they have a very high prey drive (but can be weeded out)
BigBents 1 year ago
playing they play very rough it looks like they are trying to kill each other but its like their own kink of U.F.C it you want them to stop next time they play like that hit both of them in the nose
dantherestler 3 years ago
i think that one is playing and the other is scared of him

i agree
funiekitty 3 years ago
oh and if you do plan to breed do you have a contract where the owner returns the dog to you if they can no longer keep it? Most reputable breeders have this sort of thing to insure that their puppies are not abandoned or dropped off in a shelter.
wee21girl 3 years ago
Most Huskies play rough and people think they are fighting when they are playing or showing you who's boss. People should start to listen
kellyblase 3 years ago
Huskys try to be very dominate when it comes to other dogs that form a threat. They fight over territory. You can tell just by looking at the video. This will continue to happen for a while until they both establish where there territories are in the house and decide to live with eachother. You might want look at getting rid of one if this continues. It could form a threat to you or younger kids that are around. Hope this helps.

huskys play rough....in the beggining it was play....and by the looks of it could have turned into them trying to assert dominance. both could be equals and trying to find where they fit in the pack. i personally would let em figure it out on their own over time. everything should turn out ok, but supervise just to be sure.
wharner128 3 years ago
they were fighting.... it happens sometimes.. are they both males?
BigMoose1972 4 years ago
