Listen to more than one of his songs and realize he was a performer before Toy Story and you will see how amazing he is. Niggers Crackers Kikes Chinks. We're all the same....Except for Eskimos... Those guys need to stop clubbing seals, just move into a house. SNOW IS NOT A HOUSE!
@godspeedzx13 Its a song MOCKING racism in a whimsical manner. he has written other songs like this criticizing racism and prejudice, my favorite is short people!
it is ABSOLUTLY nothing but an ironic commentary on todays, or yesterdays soceity. its called satire people, its been around for a long, long time. i dont hear anyone bitching about python insulting the french, or rabbit for that matter...get with it
why are so many people saying america isn't cultured enough to appreciate his music? we are the most fucking cultured country in the world. i love these songs
I did'nt realize this was also a Randy Newman song - I first heard it on an Alan Price album from the late sixties. He was obviously a big fan of RN's great music - and was quite well suited to covering his songs, being a bit similar in delivery and piano styles.
@WilburyVision This song wasn't released with Randy's voice until 1970. Before he sang his own songs, Randy actually was hired to write the songs for other musicians- perhaps Alan Price was one of these. Randy also wrote "Mama Told Me Not to Come," popularized by Three Dog Night.
This is recorded in Holland, because on the top you see 'vara'', that's dutch television. I totally agree with him, you've got to have a yellow woman when you're a yellow man, well only in my case, sure there are others who don't steal your children
@zagreen because from what ive heard of randy is his songs actually have meaning behind them that people from the south and alot of young people today are to ignorant to see
@kurabunoyama ummm to call them what they are is ignorant??? Im Canadian, Im from the north i think we have two different thoughts on the meaning of ignorant is
@chrissept21 so are you saying in the north that being ignorant is something positive or what? i've been there and i don't think that's the case. you said "his songs actually have meaning behind them that people from the south and alot of young people today are to ignorant to see", generalizing "people from the south" and "alot of young people" as ignorant. "to" ignorant, even.

Harry Nilsson's version is pretty good- with Randy on the piano. (Nilsson sings Newman)

I never knew Randy was so popular in foreign countries!
Makes sense though... the only ones cultured enough to appreciate his brilliance. :D

Yeah! America sucks!! He was never popular here
Alfrunk 2 years ago
@Alfrunk Is that still so? He wrote the soundtrack for many movies, including the very popular song 'You've got a friend in my' from Toy Story.

@chrissept21 - Randy Newman is FROM the south....!
Rednecks is aimed at smug northerners more than southerners.
