@tbot7291 Look at Lego Technic (or any other style)-- rigid, precise... sets possess an almost 'machined' quality. K'nex-- flexing, loose tolerances, Made in China, while resembling Lincoln Logs much more so than their European-made counterpart. I'm going to Legoland, my friend. Good luck finding K'nexland. (Great machine though!)
ok... so that game you played with your computer... i have studied this game through and im working on making an arduino version... so far i have the computer begins part! but later ill add the player begins part and even make the game play to 21!
@grijsje23 Did you read the report? It includes some calibration instructions and basic programming. If you can't figure it out, try to gain an understanding of what has to happen for the machine to work, and move critical pieces till it works.
@tbot7291 Yea, i did. I also watched ur other video, and saw the lifting system works differently, and your instructions were nice and clear, but u didnt include the actual moving pieces...
Tell me if i missed something, and ty for the quick reply :)
Hello, I have just built your "computer" and have done the first program, but that took me ten minutes to figure out, is there any instructions for doing the programming for the 1-7 game shown in this video?
If so could it be made a little bit easier by you explaining it a bit please?
Thank you for creating such a marvellous working model
I'm done making instructions, for a slightly improved version of the design in the video. I just have to finish up the rest of the report (calibration and programming), then I will put up a pdf online
oh yeah my firend showed me that game and I'm so good at math that after 3 games I developed a strategy to win EVERY time, and would ensure you to win if you went fist, but they didnt know my strategy so I never lost, I also changed up what number to say and how much you can add, the strategy still worked :D
@elhombremoneda - I was working on a new model, but I have hit a road block and I'm not sure if I'll be able to finish it. Because the current model would be almost impossible for anyone but me to run easily (it messes up way too much) I am uncomfortable spending the time to make a tutorial right now.
Don't worry though! When I get back home for the summer, I am going to work on fixing the current computer so that it is releasable, but it might be a while.
To all who have shown interest in the k'nex computer project:
I am currently attempting to build a more user friendly and more expansible version of the model. When it is done, I will be completing full documentation of the project, so there will be directions to build it.
@elhombremoneda - no, there are no special pieces required to build the model, and in my new one, there won't be either. The only things that might be called "special pieces" are the rubber bands on the back.
This is absolutely amazing! There have been knex "computers" before, but none of them have been programmable. You have made an amazing machine here.
I am currently working on my own programmable computer with knex, which will have a design vaguely reminiscent of the Digicomp but using falling balls, similar to the original knex computer by the guys at Olin college.
Pfft, K'Nex are so much better than legos. If you want to make a lego computer you must use - dare I say it - marbles!

How do you make it. It might need 1,000 pieces.

K'nex looks like crap next to LEGO!
GrizzlyRecoveryZone1 2 months ago
@GrizzlyRecoveryZone1 Bold words my friend. Only Lego Mindstorms can really compare. Other than that, K'nex wins every time.

@GrizzlyRecoveryZone1 Next time you meet a leggie, tell them this:
Legos are outdated.
if they ask you why, say this:
legos equal building with bricks, knex equal building with steel girders.
KNEX FTW!!!

Can you please give a more specific parts list? And tell how many slots each connector has? And how long each rod is?
Chrissanchez4 2 months ago
you should expand it, you could easily add more binary rows

im thinking to do it in 3d with a computer program and send you so you say me some useful things to finish it
Ok?

Oh, it just means I have found a problem with my new design that I am not sure I can easily fix, so I might just stay with the old design.

why you don't do a tutorial of THIS knex computer?
i want an answer or a tutorial

odd feeling that this is better then a Mac

Why are you asking for a tutorial?
This looks epic, I will admit, but it also looks like it took a while to build.
And I doubt (If he hasn't already) he would want to destroy it.
