Is he not using a pick AT ALL in this song? I know he often fingerpicks and holds the pick between his index and middle fingers before switching to it, but that doesn't seem to be the case here.

look up like "fast SRV lick" on youtube or something and that will help get the technique then it's just using your ear to pick it up. it sounds VERY similar to SRV with just a lil JM3 twist.
