  • NICE... the music seems to directly quote from Ginastera's Toccata...

  • @TouchingYou The music was written in 1926. So it is Ginastera who is quoting...

  • I feel like im about to piss bumblebees after this

  • 135 people are alienated by this piece of art, and prefers the general idea that man is so superior to nature that technology shall be the savior, and not the downfall of the human species as mere tools in a materialistic functionalist society.

  • If I were a very absurdly wealthy person, I would commission someone to design me a home with an industrial theme, yet with 21st century technology.

If you have ever seen the movie "Thirteen Ghosts" you might be familiar with what I mean. All the gears and mechanism's in that movie sort of follow my idea for that concept.

I think it would make a very unique and satisfying place to call home.

  • warning: do NOT watch this video while high!! will cause you to trip out reeeeally bad xD

  • @draagonfliir I just did, it was awesome!

  • @draagonfliir thought exactly the same D:

  • gave me chills

  • work will never be the same

  • This is so Soviet! Imagine if this was around back in the 80s and you saw it on acid..."Gorbachev accidently hit the button...!"

  • what the hell?

  • i think i understand but not sure can someone tell me is this about people becoming so reliant on the industries that if they were gone we would be sent back in time?

  • What the hell...?

  • I do not understand this one

  • inspiring !

  • A lot of you commentator overthink this video imo. Why do so? I can say I enjoyed it and it was perfect for my taste. I didn't start to think about what is it meant to be achieving, I just felt the great, big, industrial atmosphere. Somehow the beginning of Alien 3 directors cut came into my mind.

  • Kinda Boring... wierd... not intrested..... didnt like it...... hurt my eyes abit

  • was never really paying attention to the video.. i was just fantasizing about a girl that works at the building i work in and that was about it.

  • i think filmmaker fails on what he wanted to demonstrate but the film would have been interesting if he had it described as the primordial reconstruction of industrial desire flux

  • I feel this was supposed to instill in me some sense of dread...but that is certainly not what I felt. I mean... I respect the filmmakers, as well as their position, but none of the images in any way made be feel "crushed".

I just don't feel that threatened by the industrial world. Hell, on a slightly funny note, there was an abandoned smelting plant right next to my house growing up: a great horned owl, a bobcat, and a pack of coyotes lived in it.

  • @AaronJEstes Watch full screen

  • I have no words.. is a real dream!

  • Must have taken some effort but the thinking behind it doesn't come full circle.. Isn't really explanatory considering it's supposed to be making a point and portraying something instead of telling a story or whatnot. The music is... not articulate enough to follow the images... Sounds somewhat pompous and over-reaching than it needs to be. Good, but could be better, heck of a lot more than I could accomplish.

  • Progress, and the place of humans and machines in this race to somewhere (but where?) make for a great topic of though and source of imagery for beautiful films like this one. As always, love the match of music and visuals, and the use of old propaganda posters (they were beautiful) , and love the machine-skeleton and its decomposition at the end.

But a topic I would like the see the author tackle is the digital: computers, the internet, the virtual, the social (loneliness). That would be fun

  • It's not about the message. Of course it looks dry when written out in words. It's how bold the message feels when communicate purely through stringing together familiar old graphic design elements, almost worldlessly, that makes this great.

  • I love the way this is set up! With the different shots and angles and whatnot. Don't care for the music though...

  • Why is it so hard to tell the difference between good art and bad animation? I feel like my eyes just ate imported cheese.

  • so i guess this is about the hardened industry and wartimes of the first four decades of the 1900's around the world.

  • lol YOU CANT TELL WHAT THIS IS ABOUT? IDIOT!

  • i think the speed and iron works resemble how innovation and progress can result in stress and anxiety. everything is faster, stronger and to keep up with the speeds of machine, we must increase the speed of man.

  • I think this is as good as it gets when dealing with important subjects. A master of animation! Read my full review in the Animation Blog, via my profile.

  • truly thought provoking and visually stimulating--like, seriously. brilliant

  • Does anyone know what piece of music by Mossolov that was?

  • Iron Foundry

  • Thanks!

  • this makes me think about how sinister america and russia were in the cold war, very apocalyptic feeling from this

one of the best from nfb ive seen so far

  • what rules? the industry.

  • Interesting.

  • I was surprised to say the least. Incredible finale

  • Really nice work...!!! Driving and constant...

  • i thought that this was visually stunning. im reading kurt vonnegut's player piano, so i found it particularly resonant.

the thing that killed it for me was the music. terrible choice in my opinion. it really made it hard for me to enjoy.

  • this film really held my attention

  • two and a half minutes too long...

  • Isn't it a little bit contradictory to make a movie about machines crushing humanity and then put it on the internet so that it can be accessed by people using machines? Aside from that, I hate to say it, but industrial imagery by itself is simply not interesting enough to watch for nearly five minutes straight.

  • well arnt you just so clever and smart!

    anyway -

    awsome video 5stars!!!! great work

  • I stand by my comments whether anyone agrees or not. I understand a lot of work might have gone into the making of the film (I've made several shorts myself), but that is no excuse for being boring.

  • lol

  • que video mas rraro

  • the vid itself was totally bizarre, but i like the industrial beats of the music.

  • Hot Lunch Productionz.

They Make Your Dreams Come True.

  • If you finished a book, but thought it wasn't the best you could have done with that concept and idea, would you still have it published?

  • carlos what r u doing?

  • Very artfully done showing the rise and fall of the industrial revolution. Also showing complex abstract which mirrors the rise and fall with a blend of cubism and propaganda images of old soviet union. The music adds to the feeling of hope when the revolution had started but ends up in a strong beat when it sub comes to its own demise.

  • I'm totally agree with you

  • booooo-ring...

  • Ok I had to press stop. The first minue was awesome, no it literally blew me away, and then you lost me. The theme seemed so irrelevent with all the sloppy collage crap that was happening. You want to call this art, fine, but it definitely lacks direction and a story arc of any kind. Again only the first min was brilliant, after that it is pure crap, not creative at all, just regurgitated special effects and a lot of time, hell you probably just got lucky and threw it together.

  • I agree

  • OMFG!! SOOO FUNNY!

    watch?v=RgC1ZBSWs_k

  • Exercise in technique.

  • check my video to find where get some fun!

  • The film does not necessarily depict progress. It only shows useless toil and the inhumanity of socialized labor. Progress is not defined by work, but progress requires work.

  • youall notice how this video goes great with alice in chains

  • waisted 4 minits of my life

  • niceeee

  • I don't get it.

  • It's a commentary on how our nature to build and industrialize ourselves will ultimately ruin us, as the humanity is slowly replaced by machinery. or at least that's what i got out of it.

  • I agree.

  • why is the symbol for films the all seeing eye?

    helter skelter

  • Nice Video,

Anyone Like Stop Motion or AMV :]

I have some Funny Stop Motion and Great AMV (Anime Music Video) Hope you enjoy my hard work of creation!

  • chupame bien el picho aguante eclip`c

  • Really cool!

  • Part-Cynic-part-Marxist-part-existential-part-Disney's Fantasia

The beauty lies in the imagery and the meanign is spoken by the philosopher. I like it.

  • wow

  • very abstract. i like it

  • salak

  • I'm sorry to say it, but the editing and sound effects weren't very effective at getting the message through.

  • wtf is this???

  • shit...

  • jag lik porn

  • read the description ^^

Nice video, I like the way you designed it

  • crazyyyyy

  • AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA, why is evil, and the crushing of people, and big industry always associated with socialism and ussr?!?!?! its cpaitalismt aht loves industry... DISGUSTING VIDEO

  • I think that this is what the video is about, it is obviously, not? It is not about socialism, it is about any totalitarian systems (including capitalism, fascism, You name the rest)

  • I clicked on this because I thought that by FLUX they meant the card game then I realized that the game is spelled with two x's aren't I just brilliant? anyway...

Good video, interesting message, and a little spooky

  • buen video jajajaja

  • Just a reminder we have (purim) coming up.

  • when i saw this....i thought at metropolis...

  • THis was amazing! Like a moving Futurist painting. Good fucking work!

  • A little weak. Nice imagery. Directed to the Proletariat.

  • everyone go watch how to shrink

    a wii now

  • my head hurts....

  • waterman is a faggit.. a big faggit

  • WHAT N DA HAM SANDWITCHES WAZ DAT!!!!

  • Agreed! Building structures are not human.

  • I thought this was a very beautiful movie. Maybe its meaning is slighlty lost. I sitll like it because it reminds me of Stanley Kubrik esk Imagery.

  • WHAT>>>>>?????????????

  • What a bunch of crap.

  • This was an offensively cursory glance at a subject that was probably too complex for the video's creator to appreciate its intricacies. Fuck this shit.

  • Perhaps the 'offensively cursory glance' was intentional, and adds to the message. Also, its not a documentary, so it's not fair to judge it as one.

  • IF I WERE YOU I WOULDNT READ THIS!

On December 23rd, 1987, a girl named Abby went to bed. However, while she was walking to the bathroom, she saw a skeleton. She was scared and decided to simply go to bed, sleep, and forget about it. However, 6 months, 6 days, and 6 minutes later, the skeleton she saw came up to her and killed her. If you don't post this to 5 other videos in 6 minutes, 6 seconds, and 6 milliseconds, the same thing will happen to you. Trust me, it happened to a friend of mine

  • Great film! It is nominated for Best Animated film this Year Canadian film Genie awards.
