  • I like that you never see the unicorn, because they way the original was written for all we know he was making it up. However, the unicorn eating a lily was important symbolism and I'm sad it was removed and replaced with "flower". The roses were symbols of love, and the lily one of sexuality. The whole point is to show the deterioration of their love and that the ideals of perfect love and such no longer exist between the couple.

  • @NekoNoTsuchi That is a cool way to stick to the story.. but the director allowed for artistic leeway and decisions of his own. though he did read the original, he purposefully chose how to write the script the way he did. but thanks for your input

  • @NekoNoTsuchi Thats a pretty good analysis of it, I liked how you brought the symbolism of the flowers into play. But another way of looking at it (this was from watching the UPA cartoon) was the imagination triumphing over realism, in the end the realist is taken to the insane asylum and the imaginative one gets a "get out of marriage free" card

  • A Thurber Carnival.......and its called "The Unicorn In The Garden"

  • Awesome acting!!! 2 Thumbs Up! :-)

  • Thanks, Cooperboreland. I made a circuitous path to your posting by way of Keith Olbermann's reading of Thurbers, A Box To Hide In to the animated version of A Unicorn in the Garden to this film short version o the same. I really enjoyed the exploration of Thurber in the differing media. Very entertaining while extremely thought provoking. Bravo!

  • Very well done, and the music is beautiful.

  • It's a nice adaptation of that novel, and I believe it makes it more modern, compared to the fifties style it originally possessed. It also leaves viewer with question about the true nature of what happened. Overall, although it differs - in some points that I personally wouldn't change - from the original, a good artwork.

  • So the unicorn died?
