  • This is an extremely informative easy to understand video. I wish the Northeast Generator Co. of Bridgeport CT had given us this link before they set up their gas powered generator inside our attached 2 car garage. This information should be readily available and mandatory upon delivery when renting a gas powered generator.

  • ty for the info

  • very good info. My approach is to have different sources of power. I keep a battery bank with deep cycle batteries that are used for minimal power at night. the generator only runs during the day and only when placed downwind from the house.

  • Nice, I usually keep mine at least 50 feet away from the house near a detached 2 1/2 car garage. It would be great if portable generator manufactures started putting catalytic converters on them to cut down on the harmful fumes, but adding that would raise the price significantly. Another great idea would be to put a device like a collapsible cloths dryer exhaust on it that could extend further away from the house, but I guess it would need to be at least 25 feet long and be quite cumbersome.

  • I never knew just how dangerous generators could be. I like your suggestion about the catalytic converter. I'm wondering if an aftermarket automotive catalytic converter could be installed and how it would effect the engine performance?
