Somebody say this is the operator ,,, I say, I don’t want you operator

    I want my baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaabe….

  • The best live album ever and the Climax of it is this song here. If you don't own this album try and track down an original with this cover , not the poorly remastered version which is now available.

  • Who else thinks of the beginning of "Ali" when they hear this?

  • I love this record so much. But this track always makes me want to shout out loud and crank my stereo.

  • Hell Yeah!! Put some STANK on it!

  • I miss seeing my father and my son listening to his old vinyl records every sunday...Alzheimers took him away from us, but I am forever grateful that god gave us these beautiful memories...I love you dad, you made a gentleman out of eli

  • Almost 2012 and this song will never get old ...

  • One of my favorite things to do is introduce young'uns to this soul. Never once have I ever gotten a reaction that wasn't "HOLY SHIT". LOL. True story. Peace and Happy Christmas.

  • @dajesusblues that's what's good.

  • not a flaw on this mans voice, and he know he cold blooded.!

  • fuck it, it gets no better than this.

  • Sam Cooke was just perfection. Especially on this song.

  • this is my favorite version..including my own...haha...

  • He did that!!!!!!!

  • my mom had this record and i was afraid of the front of the cover idk why but i am sure there was a reason and my brother caught wind of it and would use it against me if i would tell on him or just to torture me but once i got over it i felt accomplished

  • "Smooth as Sam Cooke on vinyl."

  • This is the EPITOME of all of the songs on Earth. This is the best, as good as it gets, welcome to our planet & please feel free to dance & smile!....

  • This has got to be the BEST version ever of this song. Goosebumps...

  • Simply unbelievable ... would love to have seen the great man live

  • Awesome.

  • where's the rest of the views??? This should have well over a million views.

  • @ssj4hassan Its not over a million because the upload link to this version keeps being taken down every six months and then a new one pops up. This is about the fifth or sixth time a link to this have been posted over the last three plus years.

  • When you have sex with the Girl who is your REAL LOVE, and you're listening to this song during the act... that's something deep... if not the deepest and the most special, the most emotional experience in my whole life. I never felt like this before. Thank you Eniko Horvath, bring it on home to me =$

  • Best version of this song ever.

  • Wish i was right there with u @ Daryllewis2010

  • just wish i had £90 to buy a 5.1 sorround sound with a bigger subwoofer to fucking blast this ! i wish i was back in 1960 in that club!

  • I remember in 2005 when it was hard to find any Sam Cooke tunes on here apart from the Chain Gang with Ali. I approve of 2011.

  • @Jmccre19 so true

  • i'm not looking for any 'thumbs up' but i truly don't understand why 7 people didn't like this. did they get lost on youtube or what? wtf..

  • They should cancel the national anthem and replace it with this. It is that good. This should be as famous as the Gettysburg Address - it is that powerful and true and geniusly crafted.

  • did yall hear how he just cut into it....i was just happy wit the intro lol wow man

  • Greatest live recording of all time,.,

  • @outdevo you sir, are correct.

  • The greatest soul singer this world has ever produced. No one can touch him.

  • Today`s music,I don`t know. What happened? There`s a few good singers nowadays, but it seems like years back there were tons of great singers.A few of the singers back then were more than great and Sam Cooke is one of them.Another crazy koo koo fact is that for some reason Sam Cooke and Donnie Hathoway will always be overshadowed by Marvin Gaye. All three were in a league of their own greatness, but it still makes you wonder what makes an artist more popular than another. Please comment if you know.

  • @utubejunkie2010 the ones that become great is that they are able to not only sing good but they are able to touch the souls of their audience they are spritually connected with the audience and everything around them.

  • sam cookes voice was a cloud, a pure hollow imagination of greatness uncomprehendable to the average human, never again will such talent nonetheless challenged but far from met, this song is a blessing in itself

  • this just made my water break and ima guy

  • This is my all time favorite song! I love it!

  • There are 7 people out there who don't have ears. I love this tune. Especially 3:45 when he slaps his own chest when he sings 'that ain't all Sam would do for you'

  • For those of you that have this album, did you notice that Sam did three shows that day!

  • "I can Dig it Baby"

  • Incredible, epic soul..

    mr melody.

  • speechless...

  • Sorry.. I love that no one goes live like this anymore... Makes me appreciate what he meant to REAL music soo much more...

  • Majestic, brilliant, superb, is there any superlative that you can't use for Sam?

  • how can you even dislike this.. unless your like my bro who pushed 'dislike' because he was to blung

  • If there is a music heaven Sam is there singing this right now

  • I there is a music heaven Sam is there singing this right now

  • SAM COOKE OF ALL TIME THE GREATEST

  • holy shit

  • bestial! aquest paio era collonut! SAM COOKE!

  • I've literally spent hours listening to this medley. Sends me every time from 1:45 till 2:30.

  • Ohhh Lawd I don't know how many times I screamed listening to him sing this song! Wooo! His voice gives me butterflies XD ♥

RIP Sam Cooke. You were truly an original. Nobody could ever top you ♥

  • the best

  • this is such an amazing version

  • Zeppelin covered Sonny Boy not Sam Cooke btw...

  • the thumbs down are on acid and cravin led zepplin...he, he.

  • @jostyjoy you make it sound like craving led zeppelin is bad........as if they aren't enternal

  • sounds so pure

  • She use to listen to this song all the time..... Around the time she didnt want to be with me anymore. Maybe she could see me singing this to her. :.(

#A foreshadow of events to come

  • So true

  • Copa v Harlem Square Club? Singing for $ v Singing for the people. It's the crowd that pushes the artist to greatness.

  • yo.....

  • one of the few songs where you just close your eyes and hope it never stops..

  • What a hell of a number. It's been performed by a good number of others; But Sam Cooke really knows how to bring it on home with this version. Thanks for posting!

  • the best voice of all time...im only 23 this is my favorite artist n everyday i am sad about not being born in his time jus so i can hear his soul

  • @Mrontherun09 Agree 100%(except my being 17 XD) what I would give to see one of his performances live.

  • Gracias Hippie por ponerla... MAGISTRAL

  • I feel like this is the only album where Sam Cooke is not "art under duress". If you compare this to, for instance, Live at the Copa, you can tell, he is singing for his audience, not himself. No fake smiles here.

  • @terrormachine78

Agreed, it is hard listening to Mr. Cooke's studio albums once you've heard this performance.

  • @terrormachine78 Sam is singing for his home folks who understood him and his music far more than the Copa crowd. Even though he was performing at the top venues by this time, he continued to make the stops on the chitlin circuit. Probably because he didn't want to loose that connection with his core audience and his soul was probably nourished by the participation and response of those audiences.

  • My jaw hit the floor the first time I heard this. It's so far removed from the supernatural smoothness I love in songs like "You Send Me" and "A Change is Gonna". Totally different, but just as good, if not better. He sings like he's trying to bring the building down around him.

  • well now u c where jhonny taylor bobby womack etc etc......got it from.

  • My favorite part is at 0:00-5:43.

  • @CubsRule06

That's the best part. He nails it!

  • sorry Elvis but in my mind you are nothing compared to Sam

  • This was the performance re-created in the opening scene of Ali right?

  • @BrotherMalcolmX1 yes indeed

  • @BrotherMalcolmX1: absolutely. I'm probably the world's biggest Sam Cooke fan, and I loved that scene.

  • Simply fantastic

just a pity this was not fimed

    R.I.P Sam Cooke

  • @MrStruth Who are you telling?!?!? I recently saw a 1967 video of Otis Redding and couldnt help but WISH video was recorded of Sam....what an oversight...

  • One of the greatest performances every given.....when discussion comes to the 3 greatest singers of all time, Live at the Harlem Square is winning proof.

If only his singles were this raw and powerful and soulful......his impact could have been even more.

  • LEGEND!

  • love him smashing his chest at 3:45

  • @guitarlover891 Hahaha....good observation.

  • Oh MAN, this is the REAL DEAL

  • Best live performance I've ever heard.

  • the best song ever ...

  • The only song i like better than "bring it on home to me" is "bring it on home to me" live at the Harlem square club.

  • "after silence that which comes closest to expressing the inexpressible is music"

  • what an unbelievable voice

  • I wish there was film of this performance. I'd give a toe to have it. Okay, two toes.

  • thumbs up if you looked for the 'Love' button like me but had to settle for the 'Like' :(

  • Bring one particular person home...

  • OK, the people that disliked this, must all be related! Who in their right mind would not hear the pure soul in this! REAL MUSIC people- R.I.P Sam. I love you

  • i get goosebumps everytime i hear this song! just AMAZING!!!!

  • . i just cant beleive the emotions ifeel when i listen to his live music. harlem square was a black club in miami florida. he really knew how to cater to the crowd he was singing to. i love sam cooke because of my dad who would listen to the soul stirrers. and when i found out that the "two" sam cooke's where the same i was like dang

  • one of my all time fave albums there are no sam's today,he stll is the best!

  • Unquestionably one of the greatest, most soulful, most enthralling introductions to a song ever recorded.

  • super music Sam is fantastic, this song makes me dancing through the house all the time and singing along so that the whole neighbourhood can hear it.

    bring it home Sam

  • ok so the harle square was a club in Miami and sadly it is no longer there in miami. since it said harlem square i assumed it was in harlem! lol

  • This is music. The whole talking to me...Come on Sam!!!!

  • 5 people couldnt bring it on home

  • I LIKe SWEET MUSIC SWEET SOUL MUSIC. sam cooke brought the church to the world. man marvin gaye and sam remind me of each other you can see that marvin was inspired by sam cooke

  • @mjjcng8958 You know Holly-weird was going to do a movie on Sam Cooke and they wanted Marvin Gaye to play Sam, But Marvin couldn't play some one he idolized. He turned the role down cause he was still shocked about Sam's death. Ain't it weird that Marvin was shot as well many years later? Damn!!! But Sam was the teacher, and Marvin was the student that became a teacher. They will both be missed.

  • This really is the only version one should listen to...

  • timeless !

  • The truth shall soon be known to everyone... R.I.P. Sam Cooke...

  • B. i will wait for you!

  • How the hell did such an awesome musical performance turn into some little bitch-fest betweeen douchebags picking interweb toughguy fights with eachother?

  • AAAAAWWWWWW YOUUUUUUU SSSSSSSEND MEEEEE!! OH yes !!!!

  • @1965moonflower lol...You sure know how to act like a lady. piss off, cunt!

  • @LDKBBAB Your the cunt fucker. your a low life peace of shit who can't get a women or in your case a man. Go fuck your batman posters and masturbate to your comic books. AND GET A LIFE why is your hobby fighting with people on youtube? Why don't you grow a pair and fight with people face to face you PUSSY!

  • @1965moonflower you are one fucked up lady...and I seriously doubt you haven't been laid for a loooooooooooooooooooong time!

  • holy SH*T! perfection

  • Happy birthday to Sam Cooke!

  • happy 80th birthday to sam! killed when he was just 33 - here's to what could have been... amazing talent - i love him!

  • Heavily influenced by black gospel... in all the best ways.

That feeling you get that makes you want to testify? I get it here, I get it in Talib Kweli's Get By, I get it in fuckin Ben Fold's when he has the crowd sing along.

It has nothing to do with anything supernatural... just a raw connection to other people singing soul, or even just playing along with the call and response from the bottom of your very balls. Some sort of weird emotional humanity feeling.

  • WOW!!! What an amazing soul! Gone but NEVER forgotten! Someone needs to make a feature film about SamCooke's life. For those of you who don't know the story, you should research the internet about him. Very interesting.

  • @SAMCOOKEFAN100 oh i want to join sam was my uncle please get back to me

  • thank you Sam, R.I.P.

  • 3 people are tone deaf this is music sex

  • A perfect piece of music, nuff said

  • wow...why do the good die so young?

  • This is what you call talent. There is no competition living now that has it like this. There are a lot of people trying to imitate. The imitators still don't have it but they are stealing all the old songsaThe record companies should be playing the orginal records. We need the original talent on the air waves.

  • God Bless you, Mr. Cooke.

  • Bring it on home to me has always been one of my favourite songs. I just heard this version sitting at a cafe and i had to hold back my tears of joy. This is what life is to me, this is my defenition of real love and my meaning of happyness.

  • @MonkeySweden wonderfully put. it truly doesn't get much better than this.
