BELL BOTTOMS PANTS PLATFORM SHOES STOMPING GROOVE BEAT.....I've been enjoying the barkays jams since i was just a young lad to this day....wow.... timeless.
Yeah,I was looking at Staxwatt and they said it was in 1972 when they performed.I kind of figured James didn't wait 9 years to reform the grop, because thats alot of time to trying to put a band together. But they rock hard at Staxwatt in '72.Son of Shaft be jamming. You have to really like funk to understand the Barkays.
THIS IS THE SONG THAT MADE THE BARKAY COMEBACK,AFTER THE TRAGIC PLANE CRASH COMPLETE! 'SHAKE YOUR RUMP TO THE FUNK' FROM THE ALBUM "TOO HOT TO STOP 1976" IS A FUNK CLASSIC! LADIES AND GENTLEMEN THE REST IS FUNK HISTORY!
The text is misleading/incorrect. The Bar-Kays did not wait 9 years (until 1976) to reform. The released an album in 1969 and had a hit in 1972 with "Son of Shaft". "Shake Your Rump To The Funk" is from the new Bar-Kays' fifth album, "Too hot to stop". See their discography at Discogs. Pretty good video of a good band, with the energetic Larry Dodson at the front.
I'm the biggest Barkays fan it is,lol.Them my dudes there.Grew up listening to them and thats been 27 years ago.I can't wait to see them in concert.James Alexander is the father of producer Jazzy -Pha...Barkays from Memphis and they first hit was 'Soul Finger'.Check the vid out on here....
Larry Dotson & Sugarfoot are in my opinion the greatest lead singers in Funk history.

The Bar-Kays had the funk 'locked' down. The horns were 'Nasty'. Good stuff!!!
