  • Awesome! Every review video needs a review guy and a cute daughter holding pokemon from now on. Anything else won't hold my interests in lieu of the new entertainment standard.

  • This video is awesome. I love both calculus and Pokemon! How long does the battery last? Your daughter is adorable btw.

  • your daughter is a super troll haahahah

  • Would have been a good review......

  • I'd personally wait until the 2nd generation of these calculators come out. You gotta get feedback from the teachers and engineers before you have a polished product that is free of bugs. For now I'm sticking with my HP 50G that is more then capable, just not as flashy.

  • thia calculator can solve undefine integrals and laplace transformations?

    Thanks!

  • Your a great reviewer, and an awesome Dad! She is just too adorable for words and I think she adds somthing different to reviews than other less interesting reviews by other people. Made me chuckle! Thanks :0)

  • Would you smack her already? Good review though.

  • Its a good review. Don't worry about it. Other than the distractions, you make a lot of good points. Have you tried updating the OS? It might fix the buggy trackpad or that black square. I don't actually own the calculator so I wouldn't know for sure.

  • hehe... pikachu

  • @DCNOS18 ..........yes, it's pica-freekin-chu.

  • What is the key difference between the TI Nspire CX versus TI Nspire CX CAS?

(side note): I see you got yourself a Asian wife, cool! I remember those college days and the beautiful Asian female classmates. Perhaps if I were a European "white" male, only maybe then Asian females would be attracted to me too!

  • @Dangerdoom68 . . CAS stands for "computer algebra system" but, in actuality, it has more to do with calculus than algebra. Specifically, CAS allows you to find the derivative of a function, find the indefinite integral of a function, or evaluate the definite integral of a function over an interval. In terms of algebra, it can do several things the non-CAS can't (like factoring an expression with several variables.) The non-CAS Nspire, however, is allowed on the ACT (a plus), but the CAS isn't.

  • @onebraid

I visited the Texas Instrumental web site, I couldn't find a comparable chart with in the site that would distinguish the key differences in a summary or describe the uses regarding specific math subjects, etc.

Thanks for your for explaining the key differences between both models. Your CAS explanation makes a lot more sense to me now.

  • @onebraid The CAS also has a very useful unit converter with a very large library of conversions, unlike the non-CAS version.

  • @9878rogersj ...I didn't know about the unit conversion library. Please tell me how to use it. Maybe you could give an example that deals with something odd like "inches of mercury" to "kilopascals" (inHg to kPa) and then show "millimeters of mercury" to "hectopascals" (mmHg to hPa) -- This would be much appreciated.

  • @onebraid I must apologize as YouTube will not allow me to comment as much as needed to tell you about this =(

But yes, it does contain a unit conversion library. Unfortunately, it's not a very advanced one, but it DOES have units of energy within it. Go into your your scratchpad calculator and press your library (it's the book, but I'm sure you knew) button. Option three or four will bring up a list of conversions. It's difficult to explain here, but it has many useful conversions.

  • @9878rogersj ....hey, thanx! I was able to figure out everything based on the information you provided. I truly appreciate your prompt reply an help!!

  • @onebraid Oh! And one other thing you should probably know is that the Nspire CAS (CAS ONLY!) will give EXACT answers. Unfortunately for me, the regular NSpire or NSpire CX will not. I know you probably don't care, but the CAS is quite advanced (and congrats on owning one), and as such is restricted on half the standardized tests, including the ACT. Sadly, because of that, and class restrictions, I had to trade mine in for a regular NSpire CX =( Great, professional calculator though!

  • @9878rogersj ....as for EXACT answers, the TI-89 has been doing that for ages. It's possible that the original nspire didn't do it, since it also didn't have 3D graphing originally. I think non-CAS nspires will NOW give exact answers with an OS update (which can be a bit of a pain to download and install) They will also do very nice 3D graphing with the most current OS update. Good luck, and thanks again!

  • love the kid srry ur awsome too

  • @Snmiller95 . . . hey, thanks! She is a little gem -- very theatrical. And double-thanx for saying I'm awesome; it's good to know there are still some nice ppl on YouTube!!

  • I'm taking Geometry this year is this graphing calculator okay for that too? Also does the SATs approve of it's use during test?

  • @cmaryk12296 . . . It's great for Geometry, and yeah, the SAT approves of it's use during the test (but the ACT doesn't.)

  • You have made me extremely happy after watching this video!

  • @bluelove304 . . . That's the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me on YouTube. Thank you!

  • Hey man I just got my cx Cas today and I'm having some troubles the right and left arrow keys become unresponsive for a while. I press and press and after 5 or 7 seconds they become unstuck. Does that happen to you?

  • @11salva . . . It doesn't happen with the actual arrow keys, but the track-pad frequently DOES become unresponsive (and the mouse pointer disappears). In terms of actually pressing the keys, I haven't noticed any problems.

  • @onebraid yeah I guess you are right. I bought the ti instead of the Prizm. I want it for calculus 3. By the way your little princess made me laugh lol

  • HI YOUTUBE ITS ME!!!!! AND .. my daughter

  • This calculator is the best on the market without a doubt.

  • Can you turn off the backlight ? I won't be needing it as often and would like to save battery life. If not then how dim can it go?

  • @jalene150 . . . It can go VERY dim, but the backlight flickers a bit when you dim it too much. Just find someone who has one and dim it all the way -- maybe it won't bug you.

  • Is it better than the Casio Prizm?

  • @11salva . . . There is no comparison with the Casio Prizm. The Prizm can't even do CAS (which means no solving difficult equations, no derivatives, no integrals, etc, etc.) The Casio Prizm is a kid's calculator.

  • SRRY JUST REWATCHED IT, U EXPLAIN AT ONE POINT BUT SO SCRATCHPAD IS JUST AN EXTRA RIGHT

  • @AYRESLUC the scratchpad doesnt save (only keeps history) and only has a calculator and graph. you can open both of those, plus other windows including geometry, lists, data, notes, and "vernier dataquest" in a new document, which you can save to look at later. hope this helped. :)

  • @EchozHazE . . . Thanks for the clarification!

  • IVE JUST PURCHASED IT ON AMAZON... IT WILL TAKE ABOUT A WEEK FOR IT TO ARRIVE, B/C IM FROM BRAZIL.. GOOD VID. ONE QUESTION, CAN ONE DO EVERYTHING WITHOUT USING THE SCRATCHPAD?? I MEAN JUST BY PRESSING THE KEYS LIKE WE USED TO WITH TI89??
