You do not have to be a part of this event it is completely voluntary and u can ring out at anytime. I went throught this event and it was a great experience. I would check all reports instead of bashing mindlessly.
The Lord is weary of our religious games. He’s going to close down the show. Judgment begins in the house of God. The fire of His holiness is going to be unleashed on the North American church. Ministries that have been built on personality, pride, hype, charlatanism, fakery and compromise are going to crumble. Please recall that Jesus said it would be better for anyone who would dare harm one hair on a young person, to wear a millstone. Get back to the Bible, folks, take your model from Christ
remember they CHOOSE to do this event and can CHOOSE to quit. anything can be painted in a negative light if so desired. i bet if we saw the way our troops are trained we would have a fit how our babies are being treated as well. Don't' think they all come back from war ok in the name of our country. PTSD
Spiritual warfare is alive and well my friend. My son went through H/A two years ago and is emotionally stable, which he was BEFORE going in as well, and is a very strong leader in his community. He has emotions and is a very caring, strong man of Christ. We have been a part of Acquire the Fire, Global Expeditions and Extreme Camps and have never had anything but a loving positive experiences at TMM.
@italia45godfather I know! I signed up for this and then decided not to go, they kept calling me and my mom told them to stop so they did. I thank God I didn't go.
@brutalxbriana well good for your, thats even creepier that they kept calling you! its like trying sell a product that just doesnt work and no one wants!
im watching this on msnbc and it just looks horrible. so to show jesus u believe in him u have to eat worms and be called a loser and worthless and act like your going to war? i highly doubt jesus himself would approve of this. wacked out christians, all fucking bad.
STOP GIVING CHRISTIANS A BAD NAME WITH THESE RETARDED CAMPS! This is a military tactic to break the mind down and build it back up. This is used in the military and not in churches. This is not what the bible teaches us on how to preach the word of God. Please use common sense people and dont join religion making you do weird things.Read a bible at home first before choocing a religion. The bible tells you exactly what religion to search for by learning about God.
My wife is researching this trauma based mind control facility but quite frankly, these people are 18-24, they PAID for this experience and they their money's worth. Who are we to impede upon their free will? You can't cry victim if you PAID for it and CHOOSE not to leave. It's not like kids in Palestine who have white phosphorous dumped on them. Christianity is just a satanic version of sun worship and if these people chose to follow that path, why impose upon their free will?
@truthfrequency They paid for the year long internship. It is a cult. The fact that they chose not to leave only further shows the cult-like nature of the internship. We were made to believe that our spiritual lives and our relationship with God was directly connected to this event--- ie, if you rang out, you were not as close to god as you thought- you were not a strong enough christian.
That's what my wife keeps telling me too. She just made a 30 minute documentary on Teen Mania and mind control that she'll be posting in the next day or so. Honestly, I couldn't watch it all because it made me so sick to my stomach to watch people be tortured in this manner. But I understand exactly what you are saying. It's truly a pity. If Jesus really did exist, he's looking down at us in disbelief. He told us to love each other and we crucified him!
I would also add a Jan Irvin quote: "Books are written by men. The bible is a book. Therefore it was written by man". I would also add that God is LOVE. Love is not capable of hate or vengeance or anger or jealousy. Christians have committed the most horrible atrocities known to man. They do not operate from love therefore they operate from darkness."God is inside you and all around you". Not with some j/o preacher who gets his kicks from torturing people
Actually, Christians are supposed to act like Christ. There are millions who live lives unlike Christ, but claim to be (if it weren't obvious). The Crusades (for example) were carried out under the banner of Christianity. Which with the Roman Catholic church in power, they (the crusaders) could possibly be considered State Worshipers.
I will definitely send you the link! We have a pretty big radio show, about 250,000 listeners. We were thinking about covering this topic if you (or anyone else) might be interested in sharing your story on air.
@truthfrequency still though it's not THE CHILD'S fault for going there..maybe someone else's cough cough maybe parents...lol.. but the guy who runs it is pretty manipulative.. the whole thing makes me sick!
@truthfrequency My friend just went to this and honestly had NO IDEA that it was like this... they trick people into it. She's obviously dumb for not researching this but WTF!
It is like everything in life, experiences (or events) that help u grow. So sad that u call urself an ALumni and u do this, what 4?? why did u even go thru it if u r so against it? or even why did u stay after IT was over if u do not agree with the program?? Do not forget that what joins U, ME, TM together is the love for the lost, U have no right 2 jugde Godly program just because u do not agree with a small part of it, do u even think u conduct in a urself in this matter Bible based?
@shannonkish wow, it makes sense now, then your reasons to atack teen mania are just meaningless i actually thought that you really cared for the hearts. So sad Shannon that u r no longer a christian,
@SandyAngulo1 My reasons to "attack" TM have nothing to do with the fact that I am no longer a Christian. In fact, there are a LOT of Christians who are convinced that TM is a cult.
To personally attack me shows the weakness of your argument.
as a former intern and an alumni all I can say is that ESOAL is a Life Transforming event that impacted my life and still helps me to go thru challenges as I learnt that after my strenght was over God's strenght was in me. I graduated from Teen Mania's Honor Academy 7 years ago and still think about the lessons that I received almost everyday. I thank God for Dave Hasz' life and all the team that makes this possible.
as a mother of an intern & 23 years in the Air Force, I am PROUD of EVERY intern who has completed this! Life is NOT easy, & this lets them learn early how to overcome obstacles, strengthen inner resolve & see they CAN GO FURTHER than thought possible. They have the choice to quit-it's ok & I'm sure they've gone further than they thought possible. Anyone can make something look bad-that's what our news media seems to be all about anymore. Character's are being formed here! THANKS Honor Academy!!!
@Steffinfo What kind of obstacles does this help one get through? It certainly didn't help me get through my mother's death--the hardest thing I have had to deal with so far in my life. It hasn't helped me get through financial problems, relationship problems or anything remotely similar.
@shannonkish I am SO VERY SORRY you had to go thru those things! I myself have not experienced a mother's death. That would be extremely hard! I have had to experience MANY OTHER difficulties, where I needed someone else to help me think thru things - therefore now I help other's out thru a ministry "Wholly Victory" which "can" be done via phone. Cuz we don't want one bad thing to lead to another - we want to stop those things for good. Feel free to contact me at WhollyVictory@gmail.com.
@Peachnetwork I am not a respector (which isn't a word, but the way) of God. I am an atheist. I completed the internship and was a part of ESOAL, but I am an atheist so frankly I couldn't give two shits about what "god" has to say about what I write/post etc.
Man yall are bunch of thumb sucking babies that can not and will never endure anything in your life.
as I watched this video it makes me sick to think you go your whole life tearing down people, you are not a beliver if you do that. If you cant get over your hurt and forgive then you will end up in the pits of hell.
"If you cant get over your hurt and forgive then you will end up in the pits of hell." = "Clam up and let this ministry off the hook for their irresponsible behavior or you will be TORTURED FOR ETERNITY!"
True forgiveness is not motivated by insults and threats of supernatural violence, Peachnetwork. And people who use threats to obtain forgiveness for either themselves or others are not truly sorry and deserve no such thing.
My first experiance, just before we were set into companies i told myself, im ringing the bell the moment i have the chance, this is stupid... unless God calls me to be a team captain. at that very moment i herd my name ringout over the loud speaker and that i was the team captain. i laughed to myself and said, fine, i guess im staying till the end, and i did:)

I'm sorry you had that experience, i know that is not the heart of TM. They put those things in place to help us succeed. It's tough love, Something that most churches in America don't teach, I don't want to sound like I am bashing any one, I just know that when Jesus died on the cross or when people are martyred, it is intense sacrifice not a cult. We live in a christian culture where Jesus is viewed as like Santa Clause, that is totally distorted.
My siblings struggle with deep issues because they have never had the opportunity to go through a program like this, it bothers me that Teen Mania has had this kind of publicity.
@breannareneedonahue So are you saying that if your siblings went through TM's internship they wouldn't have "issues" You are sadly mistaken my friend.
this is a broken hearted generation and there bitterness runs deeper then ESOAL, we as human like to blame when we are hurting, looks like ESOAL has gotten the blame for people who have been very broken in life. Teen Mania has truly saved my life. I was raised in a broken, alcoholic home and the training, mentor-ship, and teachings I got from this-program, thought me how to be successful, whole, and gave me the temp-let to truly have a successful life.
The heart of ESOAL is to train up strong leaders, the leaders of AMERICA, go through a more intense program and it is because there desire is to teach, break and train you to be tough. The military and boot camp have the same age group and desire, only Teen Mania pushes yous to turn to God in trial not just break you down. I went through ESOAL in 06, when I gave birth to my first child, the lessons I learned through it carried me through my contractions.
I have a question. If I joined the military, would you expect anything different? No, you wouldn't. You would congratulate me through the process, and I would come home a hero in my family's eyes. Of course, Nnobody likes it because it's in the name of Christ? You tell me what's half-hearted about Jesus; it's supposed to be flippin' hard
NO, I have gone through army training and no they don't do any of this shit. Yes it was challenging but I was not forced to eat cat food and vomit and all this other insane nonsense. The worst thing they did to us was make us do push ups and cut our sleep time.
What about the gas chamber during your Army training? So unless you have been to HA and experienced it or your loved one has you might consider the editing of a show on a video screen. Just saying.
Remember the show Fear Factor? Some of the scenes from this airing were from those days. NO ONE was forced to EVER do anything they didn't want to do.
I have a question. If I joined the military, would you expect anything different? No, you wouldn't. You would congratulate me through the process, and I would come home a hero in my family's eyes. Of course, Nnobody likes it because it's in the name of Christ?
If you guys didn't notice, they have the OPTION to QUIT. It is not something you are forced into. ESOAl WILL be hard, It will be IMPOSSIBLE and guess what, anyone can take sound clips and make is sound bad. Guess what people, I'M FLIPPIN' EXCITED TO GET TORN APART!!!!!!!!! Call me insane, because that's what all interns are. Oh, and only quitters quit.
someone below said something about these people are minors and it should be illegal, 1. they aren't minors you have to be a high school graduate to attend HA and 2. it's completely optional
@micahbilyeu Just because they are high school graduates does not mean that they are legal adults. The age to be considered a legal adult varies from state to state with most states being 18. In my state, Alabama, a legal adult is classified as such at the age of 19. Now, I don't know about you, but I graduated high school when I was 17. Therefore, had I attended immediately after high school I would have been a minor.
Whether the event is optional or not is under debate as well.
@shannonkish Of course it's optional. It's encouraged for every intern to at least TRY it....but no one is forced to do it. And you can quit at any time you want.
@Tabi921 Sure, joining a cult is optional too, still doesn't make it right! And while you may quit at any time you want, you are treated as if you are a disgrace to your team, God, and to the Honor Academy... you are a Loser, as Dave Hasz would say.
@shannonkish I'll have you know that I rang out of ESOAL. I learned more about myself through that then ANY other thing the facilitates put me through. And if you QUIT something you ARE in fact a quitter. People don't go to the HA to be coddled like children. The harsh fact of life is people quit....people fail. THAT is what ESOAL teaches. If you wanna fly through life and pretend otherwise you go RIGHT ahead.....but I'm THANKFUL for what ESOAL taught me.
@shannonkish as a former intern and an alumni all I can say is that ESOAL is a Life Transforming event that impacted my life and still helps me to go thru challenges as I learnt that after my strenght was over God's strenght was in me. I graduated from Teen Mania's Honor Academy 7 years ago and still think about the lessons that I received almost everyday. I thank God for Dave Hasz' life and all the team that makes this possible. Oh and I was 17 when I went thru ESOAL, no one forced me
@SandyAngulo1 Congratulations! I am an Alumni as well. Why do you need an event like ESOAL to learn that God will give you strength when you are weak.... isn't that written somewhere in the Bible?
I don't know why people complain about ESOAL no one makes you do it. If you don't want to do it don't, simply ring out. They offer the option pretty frequently, ESOAL is something that made me so strong. I am glad that I did it
I'm not usually a supporter of anything christian fundamentalists do but I agree with this, if you can't handle basic military training your a weakling & should probably go and cut your wrist's & listen to Fallout boy & facebook all your problems away. Booofucking Hoooh!
...so they're using that dumbass logic that if you cant solve an emotional problem then at least you have big muscles? How the hell is this not illegal?!? It doesn't matter if they sign waivers, they're minors and there are laws against this.
Add this to the long list of stupid things from religion
Just saying, I went through ESOAL...and had a blast. I was super tiffed when I blew out my knee and had to stop. **shrug**. I can't wait to go through it again.
Ron Luce, David Haas and Teen Mania Ministries, hang strong we are all praying for you. Thank you for what you do. My daughter went through your Honor Academy and also through ESOAL and was blessed. We love you and so do many, many others!! God forbid we have to experience Christian persecution as other countries are enduring right now. This kind of persecution will be driven by hate. It may be coming and many won't be ready for it. We should all do ESOAL.
Something to think about.... But did anyone else notice that all the "sources" that this news station used were against Teen Mania? The Video's were all several years old, and there was no one except for Jon Hasz to defend what ESOAL actually is. Everything is taken from the word of an alumnus that obviously has some issues with the ministry. I really expected more from an News station. they really should have checked ALL the facts.
Yeah, it's a real shame that in this sin-corrupted world brandying about the name of Jesus does not allow institutions to escape accountability for the mistreatment of individuals. And people should in no way be suspicious of that an institution would hurt people when there is video evidence of them doing so, because videos simply record things that have happened in the past, not what will happen in the future.
ESOAL is exactly like the brainwashing techniques used by many cults. Check out this link and compare the ESOAL video to the list of "coercive persuasion techniques": watchman.org/cults/destruct.htm
This is not awesome or amazing; this is manipulative, deceptive, cultic, and contrary to the teachings of Jesus and Christianity. Colossians 2, anyone?
ESOAL is AWESOME! i will make it farther in life than i thought i would have few months ago with the lessons i got from ESOAL. And if God leads me to stay another year i'll be doing it AGAIN! ^_^ I praise the Lord with all my heart for leading me to such an amazing ministry that challenges me to walk a life that honors God. Much love your way guys!!
So wait, it is a shame to feel abused, hurt, disenchanted by a ministry? I agree- people that love Jesus shouldn't treat others this way. My feelings are valid, however and it is a shame that you don't feel the injustice.
Such a shame you feel such animosity towards such an awesome program. I've been involved with TM in one way or another since 2001 and I've participated in ESOAL 3 times. My wife (who is also an alumni) and I will be coming back to campus next year to participate in ESOAL together.
@passtheaura ESOAL is about pushing yourself past what you believe you can do and finding that your true strength of character is found in Christ alone. ESOAL is an adventure weekend designed to push you physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. It is not designed to replace church or make you feel warm and fuzzy.
this is true I went trough the h*** called teen mania honor academy

breannareneedonahue 1 year ago
@breannareneedonahue So are you saying that if your siblings went through TM's internship they wouldn't have "issues" You are sadly mistaken my friend.

this is a broken hearted generation and there bitterness runs deeper then ESOAL, we as human like to blame when we are hurting, looks like ESOAL has gotten the blame for people who have been very broken in life. Teen Mania has truly saved my life. I was raised in a broken, alcoholic home and the training, mentor-ship, and teachings I got from this-program, thought me how to be successful, whole, and gave me the temp-let to truly have a successful life.
breannareneedonahue 1 year ago

You tell me what's half-hearted about Jesus; it's supposed to be flippin' hard
romeojakes 1 year ago
@romeojakes
NO, I have gone through army training and no they don't do any of this shit. Yes it was challenging but I was not forced to eat cat food and vomit and all this other insane nonsense. The worst thing they did to us was make us do push ups and cut our sleep time.
mfentruck 11 months ago
@mfentruck

Oh, and only quitters quit.
romeojakes 1 year ago
someone below said something about these people are minors and it should be illegal, 1. they aren't minors you have to be a high school graduate to attend HA and 2. it's completely optional
micahbilyeu 1 year ago 2
@micahbilyeu Just because they are high school graduates does not mean that they are legal adults. The age to be considered a legal adult varies from state to state with most states being 18. In my state, Alabama, a legal adult is classified as such at the age of 19. Now, I don't know about you, but I graduated high school when I was 17. Therefore, had I attended immediately after high school I would have been a minor.
Whether the event is optional or not is under debate as well.
shannonkish 1 year ago
@shannonkish Of course it's optional. It's encouraged for every intern to at least TRY it....but no one is forced to do it. And you can quit at any time you want.
Tabi921 1 year ago
@Tabi921 Sure, joining a cult is optional too, still doesn't make it right! And while you may quit at any time you want, you are treated as if you are a disgrace to your team, God, and to the Honor Academy... you are a Loser, as Dave Hasz would say.
shannonkish 1 year ago
@shannonkish I'll have you know that I rang out of ESOAL. I learned more about myself through that then ANY other thing the facilitates put me through. And if you QUIT something you ARE in fact a quitter. People don't go to the HA to be coddled like children. The harsh fact of life is people quit....people fail. THAT is what ESOAL teaches. If you wanna fly through life and pretend otherwise you go RIGHT ahead.....but I'm THANKFUL for what ESOAL taught me.
Tabi921 1 year ago
@shannonkish as a former intern and an alumni all I can say is that ESOAL is a Life Transforming event that impacted my life and still helps me to go thru challenges as I learnt that after my strenght was over God's strenght was in me. I graduated from Teen Mania's Honor Academy 7 years ago and still think about the lessons that I received almost everyday. I thank God for Dave Hasz' life and all the team that makes this possible. Oh and I was 17 when I went thru ESOAL, no one forced me
SandyAngulo1 8 months ago
@SandyAngulo1 Congratulations! I am an Alumni as well. Why do you need an event like ESOAL to learn that God will give you strength when you are weak.... isn't that written somewhere in the Bible?
shannonkish 8 months ago
I don't know why people complain about ESOAL no one makes you do it. If you don't want to do it don't, simply ring out. They offer the option pretty frequently, ESOAL is something that made me so strong. I am glad that I did it
TheGuylinerLove 1 year ago
I'm not usually a supporter of anything christian fundamentalists do but I agree with this, if you can't handle basic military training your a weakling & should probably go and cut your wrist's & listen to Fallout boy & facebook all your problems away. Booofucking Hoooh!

At the church camps I attend, we just do obstacles for fun.

@KnightOfLightning This is MUCH more than an obstacle course.

@shannonkish I know, we do fun obstacle courses ; still with mud and crawling, but it's not treated that seriously.
This is just weird.

...so they're using that dumbass logic that if you cant solve an emotional problem then at least you have big muscles? How the hell is this not illegal?!? It doesn't matter if they sign waivers, they're minors and there are laws against this.
Add this to the long list of stupid things from religion

Ron Luce, David Haas and Teen Mania Ministries, hang strong we are all praying for you. Thank you for what you do. My daughter went through your Honor Academy and also through ESOAL and was blessed. We love you and so do many, many others!! God forbid we have to experience Christian persecution as other countries are enduring right now. This kind of persecution will be driven by hate. It may be coming and many won't be ready for it. We should all do ESOAL.
Dotlady1 1 year ago
@Dotlady1 This is Christian Persecution? Huh, who would have thought.
DevoutPimp 1 year ago
@DevoutPimp - No, this is not Christian persecution. Just as basic training in the military is not the real setting of war. Just preparation.
Dotlady1 1 year ago
Really?!? Jon Hasz is against TM? I never knew that.
Let's be realistic. This is installment 1, there wiLl be 2 more installments.
shannonkish 1 year ago
Something to think about.... But did anyone else notice that all the "sources" that this news station used were against Teen Mania? The Video's were all several years old, and there was no one except for Jon Hasz to defend what ESOAL actually is. Everything is taken from the word of an alumnus that obviously has some issues with the ministry. I really expected more from an News station. they really should have checked ALL the facts.
Tabi921 1 year ago 2
@Tabi921
ShadowPa1adin 1 year ago
ESOAL is exactly like the brainwashing techniques used by many cults. Check out this link and compare the ESOAL video to the list of "coercive persuasion techniques": watchman.org/cults/destruct.htm
This is not awesome or amazing; this is manipulative, deceptive, cultic, and contrary to the teachings of Jesus and Christianity. Colossians 2, anyone?

So wait, it is a shame to feel abused, hurt, disenchanted by a ministry? I agree- people that love Jesus shouldn't treat others this way. My feelings are valid, however and it is a shame that you don't feel the injustice.
shannonkish 1 year ago 6
Such a shame you feel such animosity towards such an awesome program. I've been involved with TM in one way or another since 2001 and I've participated in ESOAL 3 times. My wife (who is also an alumni) and I will be coming back to campus next year to participate in ESOAL together.
TheA1pha0mega 1 year ago
@TheA1pha0mega Such a shame you think that this program is awesome. How is this what Jesus would do to people?
passtheaura 1 year ago
@passtheaura ESOAL is about pushing yourself past what you believe you can do and finding that your true strength of character is found in Christ alone. ESOAL is an adventure weekend designed to push you physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. It is not designed to replace church or make you feel warm and fuzzy.
TheA1pha0mega 1 year ago
@TheA1pha0mega So, it FORCES you to believe and trust in God. Sounds like brainwashing to me.
