Xanadu blew me away. You're art contribution made that title. It just wasn't the same when Kaluta took over. I can't wait for your Batwoman contribution and your next title.
I really love your style and your nice voice, i came upon you copic marker vid and decides to check out your stuff, i draw with alot of detail too and i kept thinking that it was always too much and that i should try to draw more simple, but after seeing your drawings and that you are a sucssesful manga/comic artist i feel reasured and i will keep doing my art in my own style
Your technique is pretty interesting. Are you inking on tracing paper (or another kind of thin paper) over the pencil sketch? I have always used a makeshift light-box but that gets cumbersome to use often.
there is no such size as0,01 in the copic multiliner SP series, the smallest size tip is 0.03 and u sid POINT 91 which is .01 but i think u meant to say 0.1
i use a 0.5 mechanical pencil and then ink it with a pigment or else a muitiliner and then rub out the pencil sketch lines underneath once the ink drys
haha, thats so great to hear, the fact that you dont just do one smooth line. XD Makes a lot of sense to me, I draw a bit as well *abstract though* but I hate screwing up so I cant do just one smooth line.
I've got a question about line weights: Could you explain what it is you mean about lines going "In" and lines going "Out"? I think it would be really helpful and would really appreciate it.
This is so weird...I've been inking a project for school for the past few days while listening to random podcasts. So last night I go on youtube looking for an inking tutorial and find this one. Then this morning I get back to inking my project and for some reason the random podcast I decide to listen to is Around Comics ep. 53 just because I just finished ep 52..I've never seen your work or know your name..Then they say "Matt Wagner" and Madame Xanadu" and I'm like "WTF's GOING ON HERE?!?!"
Thanks for putting this up, it was really informative. I am really glad you commented on how you do your pencils, scan and adjust in the computer, and then print out larger (in blue). I'll have to keep that in mind, both so the inked page will be cleaner and to save the penciled page.
i have a question i love using copics but im really bad at inking when i do pictures and stuff i always mess up and it looks a mess! have you got any tips? or do i just have to keep practicing
it's so cool to see a female doing so well in such a male dominated area of art. Your penciling and inking is fabulous and I love that you have demonstrated (in other vlogs)colouring. So much is done on Photoshop these days it's great to see original colouring.
Hello there, i wanted to ask you an opinion, since i suppose you know "something ;) about inking.
Ive been using different types of pens for years and my favourite pen is The Pigma Micron from Sakura. the problem like you say in your video is that the tip gets old when the ink cartridge isnt even halfed, the pen becomes useless. I need a pen that works well with watercolour paper (so that the ink doesent spread) and that i can erase the lapis away. Maybe you can help me and suggest a product
I don't know if you've actually used the tool I suggested, but Copic Multiliners are very similar to Microns, except that they bleed less (and therefore the lines are slightly thinner), and the SP series has interchangeable parts.
Is that a therapeutic glove? I was recommended to wear one by a nurse at work. I was telling her how I get tendinitis from time to time because I draw, paint, play guitar, and bass... I'm killing my hands with my creative outlets in life :D
If it is a therapeutic glove, what brand do you use? The fingerless look useful for art.
It's a "Handeze" glove--I got it off Amazon. It's a simple thing--just swimsuit-like material. Keeps your wrist warm and gives support--both good things for the wrist! Best of luck with your tendinitis :(
i use the exact same sort of chicken scratchy technique on my own drawings too, just helps to make sure im not going to screw up one line and so the whole drawing and waste an hours work
simply amazing. I wish more comic artist had half of your skills

Do you wear the glove on your left hand so nothing smears or oils don't get on the drawing?

females have much more patience than males
patience put in analog medias = great results
even if, in my opinion, less copics, more watercolours!
Raffaeledl 3 years ago
I think it takes way more patience to use the computer! I use markers because it forces me to just draw and not obsess.
amyreederhadley 3 years ago
That's a bit of a stereotype. There are lots of great male inkers. :)

ive tried the copics and i found out that i prefer SP for thin lines and microns for wider lines.
also, copics SP are quite expensive
the brush is cool!
thanks for your time
