1:47 Listen to the engine. Dale does not slow until the car is right in front of him. He could see well before that there was a crash on the exit, yet he tried to guess and accelerate through the smoke.
@Timbalo0 He lifts initially @ 1.50 when he sees the smoke on the exit of the corner. Instead of braking, he simply goes to the other side of the track and then opens the throttle again @ 1.52 just before he emerges from the smoke and sees a car right in front of him.
@Lukeno52 try to go at 120mph on a blind curve to the right, where an accident on the left side takes your ' avoiding' atenttion ah find another car stopped in front of you. I think that even the best driver of the universe wouldn't have any chance of avoid that racecar.
@Lukeno52 Watch the in-car camera at real speed at 1:46. That car was spinning right in front of him. I think it sounded like tires locked up a milli-second before impact. Turning the tires at that point wouldnt have done any good.
@Lukeno52 havnt you ever thought of of how much reaction time there was? well there was less than half a second or you could try this your self and crash and end you're career
@Lucariooooo amen to that....i dont think the neck is supposed to bend like that......he is very lucky to be alive and it is a releif that they werent killed in this accident.
though I missed this part of the telecast, i did catch the end of the race when this originally aired. if i remember correctly, a spectator died when hit by flying debris...
A spectator was injured by a wheel in a later crash (involving Steve Millen and Didier Theys) but I don't know if he was killed. Incidentally, Steve Millen was very seriously injured in that crash making this the last competitive race for Millen, Barbazza, and Dale. The race winner, James Weaver, said he wished he'd never gotten out of bed that day.
You cant brake that hard, you will lock up brakes...you would still hit them hard.....there both lucky to be alive, its lucky jeremy, hit him in that "Soft spot of the car" or both of them might have been killed...
Se trata de un accidente fatal?> was this a fatal crash?

This comment has received too many negative votes show
I appreciate the likelyhood of losing control completely, but why the fuck did he not take ANY avoiding action whatsoever?

That's why you slow right down when there's a huge wreck in front of you. Jeremy Dale lifted, then opened the throttle on the exit of the corner.
