@4z4r3th Yeah I think he mentions that in another one that you should realize that money isn't that important and you should give it up to avoid the situation, but if this is someone who has already killed another person or if you think they're going to kill you anyway, it's at least better to try. Good point though, I would give up my wallet too.

@4z4r3th It's still very useful to know how to defend yourself. Some criminals don't only want money. They want to harm or kill you. Always offer your wallet if someone pulls a weapon on you. If they still want to harm you, than try a technique like this.

@mrcrazymaann That is why Bas wants you to instinctively follow with strikes. If he shoots while your holding the gun, most importantly, he misses you. You need from here on to close the distance and strike. This will put the shooter in a position he is most likely not comfortable with giving you a chance to survive. In real life though, I recommend you give him your wallet. These techniques aren't 100% for anyone. Only use in a life or death situation.

this is a response to qubig3 on the gun defense. you are not trying to be faster than the one inch his finger has to travel to pull the trigger. Since action is faster than reaction you are trying to be faster than his reaction to what you are doing. Remember Bas's first move was to get his body out of the line of fire. These types fo REALISTIC gun disarms WORK. Get yourself a training partner and practice them. stay cool practice safely and I am out

krav maga weapon defences may be the best there are. but still - and that has to mentioned - you have got a very little chance if the aggressor is ready to hurt or kill you.

i think that is an important fact.. don't think (i know a lot of people who do) if someone has a gun, no problem, just unarm him. LOL it's still a gun which is designed to kill. his finger has to move 1 inch to blow a bullet in your body!

this techniques are just in case there is no other way out and otherwise you gonna die!

The problem with that though is what if the chop didn't work or the guy stepped back? Then you give away the fact that you are trained in something and the attacker will respond a lot differently than to the way he would an untrained victim. At least if you gain control over the weapon itself you ensure being out of the line of fire and having control over the weapon.

I think holding the perp up with his own gun is a little questionable because you don't know if it's really loaded, (or if the chamber is loaded), or if the safety might be on and you might not know how to work the safety on an unfamiliar gun.

To those comments about people saying you will burn your hand, well not really, I seen krav maga videos of people holding the top of the gun. It's not going to damage your hand, since it's a sping that's moving the slide foward, the bullet is moving it back.

About will the bullet fire if you do this move, only the first one, the second one will jam, so after you disarm, you need to rack the slide again. I am a krav maga student.

The slide of the gun actually doesn't have enough force to mess up your hand if you hold it tight. It will fire, and the slide will attempt to move, but if you clasp it, it won't go. That also means the gun is now jammed, so he can't fire again. That also means that once you disarm him you need to bump the bottom of the gun to reset the clip, and pull the slide back to clear the jam.

The gun will fire regardless of whether your hand is on the slide or not.And when it does go off your going to get the shit burnt out of your hand.And you might have a hole in you to worry about too.Dont try that it wont work.

The whole move from the moment you grab the gun to the moment its pointing the perp's hip is fast, and after that the perp wont pull the trigger since the wrong end is pointing at you.

Alot of the people out there packing a gun just to rob someone probably have never fired it, and the move would indeed surprise them since they're expecting you to co-operate fully.

That's the nice thing about the technique. Your opponent is not expecting you to fight back, especially when he's got the weapon. His reactions are going to be slowed which gives you the time you need.

And, you have time to think about the situation, if he hasn't a watchful guard, which shouldn't be there, as long as HE has the gun and YOU have nothing but your body. The time it gives you to lift your hands and surprise him within the move, should be enough. But, in the end, I can say, that I hope, that I'll never be in a situation where I need this...
