Yes, I know about the disparate factions that reside within the US militairy. But their equivalents within the British armed forces are again, better trained but with less high tech equipment.
Navy SEALs, Green Berets (Special Forces), Air Force Special Operations (Parajumpers), and Marine Corps Force Recon...plus a few other units that can be considered spec/ops
@ewbecht SAS sniper teams are almost always better. Admittedly, Marines are an extremely fucking close second - so far as to Marine/SAS sniper teams being rather common in Afghanistan. Also, I'm talking about initial training here - Britain spends 2 years, America spends a matter of months. And then you have Para training, then SAS testing, then SAS field training.
The soldiers are using L85A1 rifles that are standard issue rifles for the British Forces. If they were indeed American troops they would use m16 or one of its variants.
Its a joke played on the Trainnes at the end of a long exercise...The "Staff" as the PT in the Navy are called...do it to all the Trainnes....it means after days of exercise they now have to spend hours cleaning there kit and weapons...plus its bloody funny...

I have used bothe the SA80 A2 and the M16 (and the M4 variant) i found the SA80 A2 to be far more reliable and accurate than the M16 and M4. And if a weapon needs a 'forward assist' then im not that willing to trust my life upon it. Thats just MY views. PS i still think british forces are trained to a much higher degree then their yank counterparts.......the term Blue on Blue comes to mind.........fucking target recognition FAILED!
British troops are trained to foward assist with the sa80 and u just said u wouldent trust your life to a wepon that needs foward assisting but that you found the sa80 more reliable and accurate than an m16 or m4 ??
Yes people are still thinking of the old 90's SA-80A1 which was terrible, whereas the M16 has horizontal recoil, it jams a LOT, but the SA-80 is made of plastic...so with bayonets on...(sometimes without) rapid firing can still cause it to melt, although Heckler & Koch rapidly reduced this when they upgraded it.

the US are building offence such as Apache's and F22's, with help from the RAF designs and US investments (as they have a HELL of a lot more money and numbers), whereas the UK use longer training and better-quality rifles for hot conditions, with better ground superiority to back up the offence with a good defence.
i agree with everything there except that the UK have compartivly shit weapons. the SA80s arent very good tbh. if you ask our guys, they would probably prefer american Weapons. (our special forces use american weapons before people start spouting crap) but yes, most everything else i agree with you :) the F35 was with british assistance but the F22 was US. and UK dont make choppers, because we secretly dont trust them :)

The British do make choppers, the Apache AH-64 is British, and the Apache was designed by the British (aerodynamically) and built by the US (as they have the power, money and minds to make it work).
And you are thinking of the SA-80 A1, that weapon really sucked, but the new SA-80 A2 is noted as being even better than the M16, due to its lighter weight and durability in the harsh conditions.
Kudos on the M16 though, a very good job designing a weapon with vertical recoil, meaning taking a few shots means instead of major recoil, your shoulder takes it all, The UKSF do have better ground superiority, we have the Challenger II tank, which was the most capable (and still is) although the US have the air superiority, which is greatly used seeing as they are ALWAYS called upon.
indeed we do , but non of them are directly made by british companies, we do have input on the design, investment but they are still techincaly american. for example, we helped make the F35 VSTOL system because we inventd the Harrier VSTOL'Jumpjet' however it still waves an american flag. most of the Helos are yanks and some are from Europe. however, if we did make a chopper it would surely be awesome. (And we have the superior pilots)

I've read the comments and one thing stands blazingly clear, the Americans don't understand British Forces sense of humour and I guess we Brits don't understand the fierce pride the US has for its flag. I served in the Brit forces for just over 10 years and have served beside the American Army in Iraq. Pros; Fantastic training, generally superior on accuracy and tactics
Cons; Less money spent on equipment, so lower grade weapons, less armour e.t.c.
AMERICANS
Pros; Better weapons & equipment, more tanks etc.
Cons; Less funds spent on training, so the occasional bad tactical decisions are made.
Both armies have pros & cons. The American forces are perfect for long placements whilst the British forces are better for specific targets.
As for other forces, I dont know enough about them

@ewbecht SAS sniper teams are almost always better. Admittedly, Marines are an extremely fucking close second - so far as to Marine/SAS sniper teams being rather common in Afghanistan. Also, I'm talking about initial training here - Britain spends 2 years, America spends a matter of months. And then you have Para training, then SAS testing, then SAS field training.

The soldiers are using L85A1 rifles that are standard issue rifles for the British Forces. If they were indeed American troops they would use m16 or one of its variants.

Its a joke played on the Trainnes at the end of a long exercise...The "Staff" as the PT in the Navy are called...do it to all the Trainnes....it means after days of exercise they now have to spend hours cleaning there kit and weapons...plus its bloody funny...

Americans have the technology and superior numbers, the British have, in my opinion, better trained soldiers and considering the lack of decent up to date equipment they perform in outstandingly poor conditions. You ask any American soldier and they will tell you how surprised they are by the lack of modern equipment by their english counterparts. Both forces are awesome!

I have used bothe the SA80 A2 and the M16 (and the M4 variant) i found the SA80 A2 to be far more reliable and accurate than the M16 and M4. And if a weapon needs a 'forward assist' then im not that willing to trust my life upon it. Thats just MY views. PS i still think british forces are trained to a much higher degree then their yank counterparts.......the term Blue on Blue comes to mind.........fucking target recognition FAILED!

Yes people are still thinking of the old 90's SA-80A1 which was terrible, whereas the M16 has horizontal recoil, it jams a LOT, but the SA-80 is made of plastic...so with bayonets on...(sometimes without) rapid firing can still cause it to melt, although Heckler & Koch rapidly reduced this when they upgraded it.

right people. ive had enough of military allies fighting over who is the best. the USA has large numbers decent technology and an average time for selection. The British compared have much lower numbers therefore to be a decent fighting unit have much more training and the equipment best suited for its job, as such, are able to do the same job as the Americans in much less numbers. please remember, we are fighting and dying together to fight terror. arguing is disgraceful to the deads memory.

the US are building offence such as Apache's and F22's, with help from the RAF designs and US investments (as they have a HELL of a lot more money and numbers), whereas the UK use longer training and better-quality rifles for hot conditions, with better ground superiority to back up the offence with a good defence.
in summary
US = air superiority
UK = ground superiority

i agree with everything there except that the UK have compartivly shit weapons. the SA80s arent very good tbh. if you ask our guys, they would probably prefer american Weapons. (our special forces use american weapons before people start spouting crap) but yes, most everything else i agree with you :) the F35 was with british assistance but the F22 was US. and UK dont make choppers, because we secretly dont trust them :)
we do concentrate on ground troops so have better ground equipment :)

The British do make choppers, the Apache AH-64 is British, and the Apache was designed by the British (aerodynamically) and built by the US (as they have the power, money and minds to make it work).
And you are thinking of the SA-80 A1, that weapon really sucked, but the new SA-80 A2 is noted as being even better than the M16, due to its lighter weight and durability in the harsh conditions.

Kudos on the M16 though, a very good job designing a weapon with vertical recoil, meaning taking a few shots means instead of major recoil, your shoulder takes it all, The UKSF do have better ground superiority, we have the Challenger II tank, which was the most capable (and still is) although the US have the air superiority, which is greatly used seeing as they are ALWAYS called upon.

indeed we do , but non of them are directly made by british companies, we do have input on the design, investment but they are still techincaly american. for example, we helped make the F35 VSTOL system because we inventd the Harrier VSTOL'Jumpjet' however it still waves an american flag. most of the Helos are yanks and some are from Europe. however, if we did make a chopper it would surely be awesome. (And we have the superior pilots)

Well considering the Taliban don't have a fleet of fighter jets, fighters aren't needed at the moment, that is why it is US/UK bombers used in Afghanistan.
Dogfighting is a major combat role, missiles are used IN dogfights.
The US aren't on the frontline 24/7/365 that is disrespectful to British, Australian, Dutch and Canadian forces on the front lines too, the US take turns, although i will admit, they do have large number of forces, both in Iraq and Afghanistan, so if u mean that, ok.

I've read the comments and one thing stands blazingly clear, the Americans don't understand British Forces sense of humour and I guess we Brits don't understand the fierce pride the US has for its flag. I served in the Brit forces for just over 10 years and have served beside the American Army in Iraq. The US tend to be a bit more "gung ho" while the Brit forces seem a bit more calculating in their approach to war fighting, both our forces are great and should be happy to work together.
