@pjev93 Its easy. Standard tune. Then, fret the low E at the 6th fret, drop the tension until it matches the A string. Now, retune off the low E like you usually do. Dont listen to zupahzmurv. Most rock players tune down a half step. It's not that songs are "Eb songs." Speaking of tuning, tune him or her out.....

The Lesson comes later. It's not very long but since it's Jerry Cantrell I excused it. Thats how most of the video lessons from guitar world are, 10 minutes of talk, 5 minutes of lessons about shit you probably know already if you're into the artist. Now in the magazine they do this dumb shit where they cut off a fucking article 4 pages into and you have to flip to the back of the mag for the rest. I guess for the readers with short attention spans. I like how they assume we're all slow.

I didn't see a guitar lesson. However, it was a nice talk with Cantrell. And I completely agree with his take on playing guitar solos, not being as important as having great riffs and writing good songs. The solos can actually distract from a song if not done correctly and often do. So yeah, I like Cantrell's thinking, a solo must be for the song not so the player can show off or whatever other reason.
