Regarding criticism from some that the introductory speech was too long and that Hitchens alluded to this by calling it 'suspiciously terse': he had been using that line at the start of his speeches for some years, many of his lectures begin with him accusing the introduction as being 'suspiciously terse.' It is somewhat of a inside-running-joke. I thought it was a good introduction and just about the right length.

No it's not. You are changing the context from her saying that he's written from:

"...more than 60 countries and all five continents..." to something specifying human rights. There are more than 5 even if I were to concede Eurasia, which I'm hesitant to since I learned differently. So it's moot.

Secondly, what's my problem? I had a one word response to something I thought was a typo or silly mistake, you're the one coming to the defense with a large comment. What's your problem?

@coreygames My problem is, "Eurasia" is no typo. It's a valid term. Second, she says that he's written from "all five continents" because he writes about human issues, and Antarctica has no humans. Therefore, it doesn't count as part of the political world.

Sorry if I became defensive, but I was merely clarifying why she would say "five continents". Your response seemed to imply that you thought I had made the term up on the spot. I didn't like that. As I said before, it's a valid term.

@coreygames North America, South America, Africa, Eurasia, and Australia. It's easier to make Europe and Asia one, since they are connected. Why do you think there are only five rings in the Olympic symbol?

Antarctica doesn't count, because, last I checked, Hitchens wasn't interested in writing about the rights of penguins.

Um...why the hell not? That's what he was referring to, regardless of what you think of it. It's also an accepted way to describe the continents. Eurasia is a real term used to describe Europe and Asia (look it up if you don't believe me). Antarctica doesn't have any people, and therefore, isn't a place to go for human rights issues. So, "five continents" is perfectly accurate. What's your problem?

Yes, if the director manages to control him he can really do it. But, other than that.. he's articulation and tempo are sluggish and TGV-like.
