I've run into similar problems in the past when playing military type stuff. I Like the idea of making a verbal agreement beforehand. Looking back at it we should have done something like that. Would have saved a lot of heart ache.
I just prefer it when you're solely focused on the presentation.
Anyway, I've kicked around the idea of running a Tour Of Darkness (Savage Worlds) game, but I've been concerned about the whole military structure aspect and if it would turn my players off. I suppose it just comes down to gaming with people who really WANT to play a military game.
