  • WOW!! That looks so similar to a 1911-1929 Welling Bowl Toilet.

  • My dad born in '24, says that there was nothing worse than sitting under a dripping toilet tank. But I have always wanted one of these.

  • Who took over "Douglas"? Or did they just go out a certain year?

  • @Landaux I am not shure you may be able to google it

  • Trapway looks like that of a Wellworth Lite.

  • i hope u drop your cam in that crapper next time!

  • lol so you shit on history?

  • @low72 LMFAO!!!

  • now THAT is a toilet!!!!!! I love this one!!

  • 1927? Looks like it time to retire for this loo!

  • It has a very old Douglas flapper that gives a loud THUD!! :D

  • Mmmm looks like a comfy ass seat

  • Wow a toilet

  • this guy sounds like the joker

  • I never understood why they changed the design. More flushing power; more space to move around. The high-pressure public toilets develop leaks in the pressure mechanism; gravity could do the same with less maintenance and no specialized plumbing.

  • @kepstein8888 They are hard to maintain the tank.

  • Where did you find this toilet?

  • @prettylilsnowflakes8 2 apartments built in 1927

  • @force311999 cool :) my pawpaw was born in 1922

  • @force311999 2 apartments? Did they share 1 bathroom?

  • @toiletfan1 tank and seat from one and bowl from another

  • @force311999 Why did you get the bowl from another apartment? Was the bowl in the other apartment cracked or broken?

  • @toiletfan1 it was newer

  • @force311999 What was the newer bowl? And what was the tank and lid in the other bathroom? I know where there there is a 1920's John Douglas toilet on flushometer and I am hoping to film it. I also know where there is a wall hung "Standard" Sanistand women's urinal on flushometer is and I am hoping to film it. I know where there are some other women's urinals but I don't know when or if I will be able to film them.

  • @force311999 I am not sure if the Sanistand is still there. That was in 2004.

  • look at that seat! nice

  • my house is very late victorian and the council bastards before us ripped everything out in the 70s for so called modernization fuking kunts its falling apart ill bet the victorian stuff would still have been there

  • @somervillearron accept the galvanized pipes would be plugged solid by now LOL

  • Wow, what a unique flush !

  • I wish it had the pull chain

  • How old is your house?

  • @MrBrombomb the shell is from the 20s but it was fully gutted and modernized inside and out in 1985. only the studs and sheathing is origenal.

I made the bathroom to look like the old ones you would find in the city

  • i wonder y the hell this was recommended for me.i have never seen toilet vids wtf!?!?

  • You present this like an Alfred Hitchcock movie.

    Great video.

I would love to move the toilet tank up the wall with a long pipe like that.

  • it's name is gloria because it's glorious. i love this video.

  • omg thats a year younger than my grandpa !

  • Nice. I'm curious how you connected the pvc and if you could use 1 gallon from a 1.6 gallon tank.

  • The threeds on the spud and the flush valve are 2 inch

so I used 2 inch female adapters to connect I was going to get chrome pipe someday but know it has been 15 years I do plan to change this tank soon it is getting scary and I am sick of the solenoid valve I have on it to prevent a flood if the tank brakes

I plan a oak wood tank with a new china tank inside and a real chain pull or I may try to get a tank from the uk if I can They are plastic and put a wood box over it

  • I think so it was a reverse trap douglas leader.

I have two of them in barn and a sibly plus 15 other bowls for sale

  • @force311999 Those Sibleys that you mentioned are actually Kohler Sibleys. Kohler used to stamp just the model name on the bowl until they went the K of K(stands for Kohler of Kohler, Wisconsin) logo sometime in the 1960s.

  • comfy lookin seat ;)

  • You need to find a brass pipe. That PVC makes it look so... I don't know... bar-ish :)

  • when I get a oak tank I will enclose the pipe with oak

I was going to make my own throne seat to but I like this one with the "bedpan" hole in it

  • SIr thomas crapper was an actual person too. I believe he invented the flush toilet. I could be wrong

  • @1979lincolncoupe douglas invented the flush valve with the ball that slides on a rod this toilet still has it

  • @1979lincolncoupe Thomas Crapper perfected the syphon which is used in vritish toilets.

  • can't use on well system . this bathroom is fed with 3/8 copper lines fished up the wall from bathroom below

  • It is set to use 1.6 gal

this is a low tank bowl set up with high tank so it will flush with 1.6 but if I hold handle down it will empty the tank.

  • I want to poop at your house SO bad!

  • awesome! Hey, would you mind getting a tank view o fthis?

  • Sweet! very beautiful toilet setup.

  • I really like this toilet, and the floor tiles too.

  • My grandfather had a toilet that style (don't think it was a Douglas) till 1972 (7 months before I was born) and he kept the high tank. to put some artificial flowers over the edge for decoration.

  • about 4 feet there is not much hight in the room it is a clipped type ceiling

  • no but I have others in storage if you are in the ny area and intrested drop a privet msg and we can talk

  • I want that carved wood toliet seat.

  • You can't have it. LOL

  • Even for a thousand dollars?

  • the bowl is not for sale but I do plan to change tank. It is getting scary with all the crazing. I have it on a electric valve to protect from flooding if the tank brakes

  • if you show up with cash I can sell you the seat for $1000.00 LOL

  • That would be toilet heaven, wouldn't it?

  • I dream of having one of those!!!

  • he sounds like the joker from the dark knight

  • Eat your heart out 3inch flappers!!

  • so?

  • wow, that an awesome toilet! i wish i had a toilet like that. never saw a high tank toilet in person. i just love the styling of it.

  • that is 1 cool vintage toilet its like 80+ years old and still going

    Good work

  • Would it be easier to make one of those super high flow, or a regular toilet.

    And, awesome retro toilet :D

  • came from apartment blg. you used to find them on the curb all the time got 15 bowls and 7 tanks in storage some day they will be worth something so I grap them when I can you can go to a salvage type place to buy but not cheap keep a eye on the trash at construction sites and If you take a low tank setup and make it into a high tank it will flush with 1.6 gal. of water

  • Good info -- I always wondered about the high tank set up having more power

  • I would love one of these in my own home.Where do you go to get something like this any suggestions would be great.

  • Will try to get to it next week tank looks real modern just has orange fluidmaster and a corky tank ball nothing special

  • @force311999 The Fluidmaster 200A valve which was discontinued in1997. I have 3 of those valves; 2 from the late 1980s & 1 from the early to mid 1980s. I also have a 400A valve from the early to mid 1980s. I like the older fill valves.

  • It is using a nid 90s fluidmaster [orange] fillvalve and rubber drop ball flush valve water is also turned off for safety by a solenoid valve when the lights are off

  • This was a low tank so I used 2 inch pvc pipe with adapters threded on to spuds the seat is from the same building but different apt. The seat is shaped like a bedpan and was covered with 10 coats of paint I striped it back to origenal and refinished it

  • That was a pretty powerful (and fast) flush indeed!

I used to have a Douglas toilet in my house, except mine was a 1922 reverse-trap model with a low tank. Even with the low tank, my old toilet used to flush quite fast and powerful.

  • have tank set as low as I can. use only about 1 gal per flush but the velocity of the water blows everything out of the bowl

  • I never thought I would say this about a toilet, but that one is beautiful! :-) Is the seat original? Looks very comfortable. 'John Douglas'- is that where the slang term for the bathroom came from, "going to the john"? Just curious, thanks for posting!

  • mabie not shure but I know that "crapper" invented the floting ballcock valve see wiki. Thomas_Crapper and know they call the toilet the crapper
