@Violinios If the egg breaks while on the crusty bread, it can still be easliy eaten. Also some kitchen paper tend to stick on the egg. You don't want to take the chance your guest finding a piece of paper on their poached egg.
Guys this is actually really easy to make, if you're worried it won't come out right, just use a little more vinegar in a little less water. I used about 4-5 cups of water in a small pot, so there's more "depth", with 2 tablespoons of white vinegar. Do exactly as curtis says; gently lower the egg in a sauce dish into the water with the dish touching the surface of the water, and after 50 secs, voila.
I've always been told to cook them in just-under-boiling-temp water. I'll definitely give it a go with a rolling boil though, looks like they turn out very nice indeed.
why put the egg on the bread?? why not on kitchen paper or something?
