Still such a sad loss of creative innovator as Jim Henson. I still remember watching Emmit Otter's Christmas every year when I was young. I am closing in on fifty and I still find The Muppet Movie funny. Jim Henson didn't insult people's intelligence.
Please visit my channel for the unpopular truth about homosexuality.
A person does not need religion, hatred or any kind of phobia in order to acknowledge important, qualitative differences between heterosexual attraction / behavior / marriage / adoption and homosexual attraction / behavior / marriage / adoption.
Homosexual activists, with complete support from the media, have succeeded at framing themselves as noble victims and martyrs; it's an effective way to push a social agenda.
not only jim henson, but also guys like Walt Disney and Osamu tesuka, died early, but were able to generate more ideas and characters that many other creative people, who died of old age.
I swear, that's the most awesome thing about the Muppets, they practically come to life all on their own, even with the performer in the same shot. This opening shot, and the "Just One Person" finale in Jim Henson's memorial are proof of that.
Mr. Henson claimed at the beginning of the video that he is not a ventriloquist, but that the puppets take control of the stage and overshadow him (to rephrase what he said; no disrespect meant).
At the end of the video, where he and the others customized a basic muppet into a variety of characters, I was shocked to see that, despite we can clearly see his lips moving moving, The voice actually appeared to be coming from the character rather than Jim himself.
I know that the world owes Jim Henson a great deal, but if I had to thank anybody, I would thank JANE Henson: she kept that man's legacy alive for years after his death, she helped start the muppets, she's even been great with donating a lot of stuff to the Smithsonian and the only sad thing is that she couldn't continue as a puppeteer with Jim.
I wish that i can look at all the behind the scenes of Muppets (the videos we can see here too, i wish i can see the full versjon of that who are from 1:00 to 1:09)
Can you please post the full versjon if you have? Or the viewers of this video can help me.
@timrtabor123: Well, the Muppets are getting a movie released this year (comes this November) and despite hang-ups since 2008, the Fraggle film is still going forward. Even so, the characters live on through previous work, through a reported Broadway musical (for the Fraggles, anyway), through comics creating new adventures, through merchandise being put forth out the "baloobius", through promotional appearances--for example, Karen Prell bringing Red out of the Rock--and what have you.
REALLY, REALLLY hope that someone at disney holds the muppets true to their roots. Not make them too childish, appropriate for children, but with grown-up comedy. It's like G-rate stand-up comedy. So it's sharp and slightyl edgy, but never vulgar.

Thankyou Toddysfins, this was one of my favourite documentaries growing up and I have always been a big fan of the Muppets. Once again, thankyou for uploading this.
Genius is too small a word to describe what Mr. Henson was. Whoever said Sam an Friends should be preserved is right on the money. We all need more Harry The Hipster in our lives!

if you look at interviews and projects closer towards 1990 you'll find that Jim not only toyed with CGI but fully embraced the new technology.. it would be amazing to see what he would've developed had he still been with us RIP
i agree though, most production companies have forgotten what really counts.. story.. characters.. CGI alone is not enough.
