  • Every year of my life my family on christmas eve would watch the muppet christmas carol

  • Still such a sad loss of creative innovator as Jim Henson. I still remember watching Emmit Otter's Christmas every year when I was young. I am closing in on fifty and I still find The Muppet Movie funny. Jim Henson didn't insult people's intelligence.

  • theres a hint of kermit in his voice. RIP jim henson

  • Jim Henson has a very distinct voice

  • wish it had better audio... but it will have to do... thanks for posting

  • Its wierd how some creators,

not only jim henson, but also guys like Walt Disney and Osamu tesuka, died early, but were able to generate more ideas and characters that many other creative people, who died of old age.

  • the video ponlo en spain, don´t englisch

  • @miguel121946 algo me dise que no ablas ingles...

  • Jim Henson's RIP.

  • Thanks for posting this! Jim we miss you! :(

  • Alguno no deben morir nunca!!!!

  • CAN U PLEEEEEEEEASE MAKE THE VOLUME LOUDER????!!!!

    THANK YOU!!!!

  • lol i like the end... Monopoly!

  • jim es uno de mis ejemploa a seguir

  • I swear, that's the most awesome thing about the Muppets, they practically come to life all on their own, even with the performer in the same shot. This opening shot, and the "Just One Person" finale in Jim Henson's memorial are proof of that.

Jim Henson lives on in spirit!

  • Original Robot Chicken

  • I became a big Muppets/Henson fan watching Sam&Friends in DC, back in the '50s.

    What great memories....

  • @snaaptaker Wow, so you've been there since the very beginning.

  • Jim Henson made television fun!! :)) He and Dr. Seuss were my childhood idols :))

  • He brought fantasy to life. The Dark Crystal is one of the strangest, oddest, most magical movies ever made. It's truly another world.

  • "I was Big Game hunting in Africa."

    "What kind of game?"

    "Monoply."

    lol

  • RIP Mr. Henson. Things haven't been the same since you left this now Fraggle-less Rock, sir

    =(

  • @MartialArtsSuperStar It's not that easy being green with out Jim Henson

  • RIP Jim Henson, he's a legend.

  • People who doesn't like this, have no imagination.

  • Jim Henson - an end to an era.

  • Mr. Henson claimed at the beginning of the video that he is not a ventriloquist, but that the puppets take control of the stage and overshadow him (to rephrase what he said; no disrespect meant).

At the end of the video, where he and the others customized a basic muppet into a variety of characters, I was shocked to see that, despite we can clearly see his lips moving moving, The voice actually appeared to be coming from the character rather than Jim himself.

He was right. And he is missed.

  • Are those earily puppet shows on dvd?

  • gota love the muppets...

if not you going to hell

  • The Magic!!!!!

  • thanks for posting

  • I know that the world owes Jim Henson a great deal, but if I had to thank anybody, I would thank JANE Henson: she kept that man's legacy alive for years after his death, she helped start the muppets, she's even been great with donating a lot of stuff to the Smithsonian and the only sad thing is that she couldn't continue as a puppeteer with Jim.

    Thank You, Jane Henson.

  • I feel honored that he passed away on my birthday.

    Rest in peace, Jim Henson!

  • Does anyone know where I might find the song that plays over the opening montage or what it is called?

  • @RichB1979: It's the music from Dark Crystal.

  • @RichB1979 It's the music from Dark Crystal.

  • Jim Henson looks alot like my dad =O

  • The frog may be more interesting to look at, but the bearded man is pretty fascinating himself.

    Thank you, Jim Henson.

  • I wish that i can look at all the behind the scenes of Muppets (the videos we can see here too, i wish i can see the full versjon of that who are from 1:00 to 1:09)

Can you please post the full versjon if you have? Or the viewers of this video can help me.

  • @MuppetsFan123

Well just for a few you can check out The Jim Henson Hour: Lost Episode, Dark Crystal Behind the Scenes, and Of Muppets and Men

  • I wish they can bring back a new version of the Muppet Show.

  • they might when the new movie come

  • @timrtabor123: Well, the Muppets are getting a movie released this year (comes this November) and despite hang-ups since 2008, the Fraggle film is still going forward. Even so, the characters live on through previous work, through a reported Broadway musical (for the Fraggles, anyway), through comics creating new adventures, through merchandise being put forth out the "baloobius", through promotional appearances--for example, Karen Prell bringing Red out of the Rock--and what have you.

  • Lots of love to Jim Henson forever and always!

  • REALLY, REALLLY hope that someone at disney holds the muppets true to their roots. Not make them too childish, appropriate for children, but with grown-up comedy. It's like G-rate stand-up comedy. So it's sharp and slightyl edgy, but never vulgar.

It's like G-rate stand-up comedy. So it's sharp and slightyl edgy, but never vulgar. I'm just afraid that Disney will turn the muppets into a money-making afterthought.

  • jim henson :,]

  • R.I.P :(

  • Thankyou Toddysfins, this was one of my favourite documentaries growing up and I have always been a big fan of the Muppets. Once again, thankyou for uploading this.

  • When Did Henson Die?

  • May 16, 1990.

Man, it doesn't seem like almost 20 years, does it?

  • Who does the Wilkins Coffee commercials now?

  • Classic Muppet humor, the best!

For all your custom-built puppet needs visit the website link on Oliver's Creature Shop profile page!

  • We had this recorded when I was a kid and I watched it until the tape broke. Thanks for posting it.

  • I miss Jim Henson O___o

  • You and me both! Boy, if there was ever anyone in the whole history of history who I would want to just hang out with for a day it would be Jim.

  • @handofnergal Me too. U can always tell which muppet Jim Hensen is working.

  • @handofnergal: I agree with you.

  • Genius is too small a word to describe what Mr. Henson was. Whoever said Sam an Friends should be preserved is right on the money. We all need more Harry The Hipster in our lives!

  • who does kermit now>

  • I believe Jim's son Brian, as well as Ernie.

  • It is Steve Whitmire. Same man who does Rizzo the Rat

  • @MarkusTangre: And Wembley (and the upper half of Sprocket).

  • @MarkusTangre No, Its Jim Henson. Use google images and you can clearly see that.

  • wow he like is kermit his voice is that of kermit exactly.

  • i love kermie!!!

  • Thanks for posting! this is great, love " who notices what the bearded man is doing" part! Jim Henson is a legend.

  • Does anybody have the name of the song that starts at 1:00?

  • The Dark Crystal theme

  • Thank You.

  • 'The bearded man' Haha!

  • Muppets forever!

  • Great movie! Jim Henson is a total genius!

  • 3:28-Good evening, Ed, I am THE MASTER OF SUSPENSE!!!!!!

  • ha ha ha it's a big nose!

  • My favorite character (next to Kermit) is Fozzy

  • Jim made characters MORE than puppets. He made MUPPETS.

  • Thank you for posting this! I'd never seen it.

  • You know it would be great/ amazing if they showed those little skits again. ^_^ Thanks for posting this.

  • XD This is great!

  • Does anyone know what the first clip in this vid is from?

  • I love Jim Henson. Thanks for putting this on.

  • At 6:28 you can see his hand!! :)

  • i love the muppets aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • I loved this when i first saw it on abc when i was 10 .

  • Didn't Jim's arms get tired holding that great puppet up like that for the longest time?

  • -Big game hunting in africa

    -what game?

    -monopoly

  • 8:28- I thought Jim Henson was left handed.

  • Most of the Muppets are left handed...this is because most of the puppeteers are right handed. They use their dominant hand to move the head/mouth of the puppet and the other hand to move the arm of the puppet. I think the reason Jim Henson ends up on those lists of "famous lefties" is because someone noticed that Kermit was "left handed" and assumed his puppeteer must also be left handed. Just a guess!

  • catfaced is right, both about the reason why the muppets are usually left-handed and why people assume that Henson was left-handed too.

  • thank you for posting! Its really cool to see Jerry Juhl and even Jim talk about this whole process. You made my day. thanks!

  • Harry The Hipster ROCKS!!!

  • WOOOOHOOOOO!! i have been lookin for this documentary for over 10years!! taped it off the tv (remember good old VHS tapes!) lent it to a friend and never got it back! thanx soo much for this!! :)

  • Kermit, don't look, but there's somebody, underneath me.

    What?

Don't look don't look! Oh, look there's somebody underneath you too, and you know what?

    He's got a beard.

    LMAO

  • hahaha, that green mate sooo funny, when he meet that yellow one,it became more funny!!

  • It is a bit quiet, but I can't complain having only read about this treasure before, so thank you very much for sharing!

  • to qwiet!

    (i cant control vol)

  • Yes, sorry about the sound level. I've had a lot of trouble with sound for many of my uploads due to poor quality originals. Hopefully I can fix it one day, somehow. Thanks for looking.

  • thnx coz i can't change volume of my PC,

only the youtube volume dial :P

  • I grew up watching this doco over and over at my Nanna's house...It's so great to see it again.

  • I happen to like how MirrorMask was made. They asked Jim's son to make something like Dark Crystal. Gave him carte blanche to do it.

  • Great video! Kudos on using the Dark Crystal theme at the beginning!

  • Doesn't it make your heart swell. One of my fave themes ever.

  • wow.. thought i've seen it all regarding JH material.. this might have sealed it

  • Thank you so much for posting things. I love Jim Henson and I haven't seen this before.

  • WOW! I actually haven't seen this before. Thanks!

  • this man made a lot of wondeful world, for children, with a lot of great technique without computer.

Now the computer kill the magic world and traditionnal technique

  • if you look at interviews and projects closer towards 1990 you'll find that Jim not only toyed with CGI but fully embraced the new technology.. it would be amazing to see what he would've developed had he still been with us RIP

i agree though, most production companies have forgotten what really counts.. story.. characters.. CGI alone is not enough.

  • Yes that's right, thanks for this information.

    Jean-Denis Lichtfus artist in belgium.

  • I hadn't seen this in quite a while.

    Thanks for posting it.
