could you please provide / message me a list of the specific hardware used? I assume 2 single axis accelerometers and one dual axis and I noticed the sparkfun so if you could give me that info it would be great :)
@antgo264 - ADXL335 X 3 - Light Dependent Resistor X 1 - Arduino UNO X 1 - USB Hub X 1 - male to male custom USB cables X 4 - Female USB Jacks X 2 - MIDI female jack X 1 - MIDI To USB device (M-AUDIO - Uno) X 1 - Different resistors to use the MIDI & Light Dependent Resistor via arduino - Garden racks X 2 - Havainas sandals X 2 that's it also see the the eagle sketch attached in the video info
This is epic! I want to have this too, but I can view the code from the file in the link in neither the arduino or processing program for some reason, as an error occurs. Are more people experiencing this?
hey man, first of all i have to congratulate for your work. its simply great!!!
i have a question. in the sketch i can see that u made a definition of 2 extra notes. the Ride and the crash.. what do i need to do in order to play those notes? what kind of move or which axis i should move?
AWE. SOME. I'm looking forward to a more detailed tutorial about how to build one of those, it would really help improving both my drums and electronic skills!
I am super curious to know how well this system responds to faster movements. I know the purpose of this vid was to show the tech, not drum skills, but just wondering if the reason you didn't do the fast fills this song normally has was because of the sensors' limitations (or your own as a drummer) No hate:)
@scottwilkins Exactly what I was thinking. But methinks he's not a trained drummer: even if a drummer is lefty, they NEVER put bass drums on their left side. They might switch snare/hihat hands, but not bass/hi-hat pedal feet.
@redtraceur working on it, although it is quite simple to connect accelerometers to arduino and to make an MIDI output from the arduino, also the code is very very simple... if you will like to built one feel free to ask me
@eigenstates 10x mate ! i thought about it... I'm trying to keep it "natural" or "similar" to a original drum kit, the next thing instead of light sensors in the handles i though about gyroscope sensors on each hand which will measure the angle of the hand during the hit, and by the angles to manipulate between the different drums...
@mmigdal you could use flex sensors atached to the inner angle of the elbow when streched activate cymbals but gyroscopes are way better nor cheaper amazing keep your incredible work
@redtraceur 10x flex sensors are interesting idea although i quite hate them :-) i started testing it with a gyroscope from WM+ that i hacked :-) it's not so simple...
Wonderful!
