  • Yes. Me likey

  • Wonderful voice. Congrats.

  • can't stop watching your vid...keep falling inlove with you everytime i watch you sing LOL you're so good.

  • Wow. I've been browsing videos of guys singin this song and by far, I think yours is the best. You actually inspired me to sing this song for my cousin's wedding. Watched and listened to you twice, and sand it the next day LOL You have an awesome voice! Keep it up! Makes me regret not taking conservatory of music LOL

  • I LOVE PASEK AND PAULLLLLLLLLLLL

  • he's very believable. i love it. pippin is my favorite musical, so i can't say it's the original interpretation. but outside of the context of the musical...it doesn't matter :)

    gotta love this.

  • Pippin is one of my favorite shows, but I feel like so few productions do it justice...I think it's rare that the true depth and beauty are captured, and it often comes off as childish and one-dimensional.

I love this interpretation. Why can't more productions treat it with the sincerity it deserves?

  • Pretty sleek. I like the creepy puppet girl.

  • The sincerity is wonderful. I like this better than the original interpretation.

  • you have a wonderful voice

can we have your email adddress?

  • ur voice is so great!!!!!

  • i would like to marry you please.

  • Absolutely beautifully sung. Tender, singing connected with good acting. He means everything he's singing. His upper register is wonderfully controlled. Sensitive.... phew. "When dreams are done..." section is especially noteworthy. Benj, bravo!

  • Really? I feel like that section was really held, with an extremely high laryngeal positioning, especially for an E natural. I am not saying you are wrong, but I am curious to know what in his sound makes you feel it is well controlled in that section.

  • Well, this is basically a pop tune, so I think its stylistically correct to sing this higher passage in a controlled head voice - I think it makes a "tender" sound as opposed to singing an open throated full voice sound. His larynx may be high, but to my taste, he's making a correct choice here. He goes into his head voice and then connects to through to his mid-range. Yes, its held - but its just pretty! Just my opinion....

  • I think that is fair. My only complaints would be, a.) that stylistic choice is, to me, overdone both in general and by this performer and b.) some of his earlier singing seems to indicate that his sound is not very forward, again a common pop/musical theatre style, but it means that when using the head voice is doesn't have the resonance it would if sung in/through the mask. So I would argue that, rather than a controlled head voice, it is the only way he knows to sing the soft and high.

  • It's sweet..........but I miss the comedy =/

  • stunning

  • amazing interpretation .. :]

    LOOVED the choreography.

  • Thanks to him.....IM trying it for an audition!

  • This is a really lovely interpretation of the song... and sung so beautifully. Great job :)

  • Very Nice voice!!!

  • This sent chills up and down my spine

  • AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! I am performing this song for a student recital at my college. This guy is my "With You" idol!

  • that was amazing. i'm singing this for the holiday show i'm directing. props to you guys...you truely sold it. before i moved to where i'm at now, i was in a production of pippin, and i have to say this almost made me cry. <3

  • Wow... THIS is one of the BEST versions I've ever heard of this song. I love the sensitivity and phrasing! GOOD JOB!!

  • @MGZuniga:

It´s Benji Pasek...what did you expect? He is like the best ever!!!!!!

  • this production explores the idea that there is a REAL girl inside the player dancing for pippin. After this scene, the orgy scene, pippin sees the Leading Players version of love and sex -- twisted, violent, and demoralizing. The player that just danced so beautifully, and vulnerably for him, gets raped. At the end of the orgy, it comes to a final halt, when this dancing player falls to the ground, seemingly dead. Thankfully, she does not die, but runs offstage.

  • I love all the intellectual analysis...but I had this song sung at my wedding...and it was beautiful and I looked at my Bride and we just got it...but there is way more to the story that I won't share here...but God do I miss her...the ripping apart of 22 years is horible and earsplitting and now I wish I had someone to share my life with...

Pippin is an overlooked masterpiece of The American Musical Theatre. When is the revival?

  • east west players in downtown LA!

  • An interpretation can be "wrong" if it goes against the presentation of information essential to propelling the plot. The trouble here is that the information which MUST be conveyed by the song is fact that Pippin actually finds NO fulfillment or satisfaction in the distractions of the flesh. If he did the show would be over. Despite it's pretty melody and "hallmark" worthy lyrics, what must be conveyed is not the beauty of sex, but the true emptiness of it all in the end.

  • there actually is more then showed here. There was a dance section after this that conveyed these ideas in contrast. These videos were put online for enjoyment but I'm sorry they cannot be viewed as part of an entire peice.

  • @kgrahams The bad thing about seeing an isolated clip is not seeing the scene that comes before or after. Therefore, the viewer doesn't get the opportunity of being brought into context.

  • If you read the script Pippin DOES find fulfillment and satisfaction during this love song he sings. In With You (Part 2) all the players start having an orgy, which at first excites Pippin... but then he gets bored with it, then he finds it disgusting.

The point is not that there is no satisfaction in the flesh, it is that it doesn't last.

  • This is so beautiful. I prefer this to the cast recording. It's amazing - I absolutely love the guy's voice, and I hope that he makes it to Broadway so that we can have his voice everywhere! *^_^*

  • This guy is so special. He uses limited movement when he sings, but you can tell he still feels every word he sings. I feel like I've learned so much just from watching this...

  • he has a pretty good voice, I will be playing Pippin next week, just doing some last minute cleaning this week, I like the interpretation, it does stray kinda far from the 'original idea', but who is to say whats right and wrong except for the director, I certainly don't always agree with ours, he made the leading player (s) 2 girls... not his best idea, but we'll see... I loved edges by the way Benj... I won a bunch of money performing 'I Hmmm you' at a competition, keep it up!

  • This is absolutely beautiful. The usual interpretation is funny, but for this version you can really appreciate the words and music. The dance is wonderful as well.

  • I always loved "With You." I love it more because of this clip. Cool Benj! Great voice. Great looks.

  • That was both breathtaking and beautiful! Pasek abd Buchwach performed with such sensitivity and passion!!!! AMAZING interpretation and I give major kudos to the student director!

  • I absolutely love this interpretation. Beautiful performance.

  • that was so great.

  • This is beautifully sung and danced, but why is there only one girl? (And what's on her face?) This may be a different interpretation, but it's the wrong interpretation! The whole point is that Pippin has many different sexual experiences and cannot commit to one.

  • This only part of an extended scene with more individuals. The mark was used in the beginning for the Leading Player "to silence" certain members of the ensemble to establish his power in a different way. While these are obviously different from standard productions please remember they are part of a whole and don't we want to see something new when we come to the theatre! Thanks for watching!

  • how can there be a "wrong" interpretation of something? it's just the way one person looks at something, and if it's not what's originally in the story, then oh well. really, to agree with kgrahams, don't you want to see something new when you go to the theater? I think this is an amazing scene! and Benj honestly has one of the most pure & beautiful voices I've ever heard. beautiful work.

  • using your own interpretation is fine as long as you dont stray too far from the original idea, this isnt even close it actually does affect the story its supposed to be the "orgy scene"

  • I love Benj's quiet notes... I have added this to my "Best of College Musical Theatre" playlist.

  • whats with her mouth

  • This clip inspires me. Magnificently done.

  • I LIKE the way they interpret it...it lost some humor but gained some depth...i dunno...

  • why on earth is there only 1 girl? The humor in this song is that each with you is a different chick............way to not stay true to the text :P

  • a lot of the things they did in this presentation were non-traditional. it's a different interpretation of the material. shows the versatility of the company. :)

  • this is brilliant

  • I think I'm going to cry

  • beautiful.

  • whats with the costumes?

  • You are my idol... you think I'm kidding

  • wow. i'm so jealous of him. soooo good. and she's great too!

  • Beautifully sung and touchingly acted-the problem being-it is a bit TOO touching- In the correct context, the ballad is supposed to be sung to a bevy of women, each of whom becomes the "YOU" of Pippin's dreams for a fleeting moment before he moves on to the next. Thus the song achieves its intention:to show through words of love, the lack of true love Pippin finds and gives as well as illustrating the utter meaninglessness Pippin finds in sexual conquest leaving him unfulfilled

  • his voice. is so beautiful. gah.

  • beautiful voice!!

  • An touching rendition of musical theater's most beautiful and engaging ballads. This performance showcased a rare and perfect marriage of vocal tone with material. Thank you Mr. Pasek for showing us that it is possible for beautiful Broadway ballads to be sung without having to sacrifice the acting or the need for large elaborate sets. Please keep working on your singing techniques...

  • This whole song is done so incredibly magnificently.

  • his vibrato is beautiful.

  • This is a wonderful presentation of With You..Bravo Ben..I saw the original Pippin on broadway with John Rubenstein and then with William Katt and this more sensitive version is just so beautiful - Aileen Bordman

  • I sooooooo want to see this completely...

  • i would pay someone for a dvd. im not kidding.

  • If I was allowed to buy over the internet I would as well...
