The American Music industry was in hope they could create an american "Fab Four" that would show the world we could comepete with the Beatles. They created a Pop masterpiece but even with the solid gold stable of songwrites working for them, they were unable to match that McCartney/Lennon magic./I was a big Monkees fan even had my own dobble breated Monkees Shirt.

Expand that to other areas like politics and news and you will be spared much of the ignorance that most of the public suffers from (...although the downside is that you will have the increased awareness and decreased tolerance of enduring it from others)

Who is the solo guitar pickering?. I think that it is from the great James Burton-Rick nelson, Elvis Presley- This way of playing is a distinctive brand of Mr James Burton. This Monkees song is really incredible because it has a very special percussion that keeps the melody goes on. Thank you!!

@ginacranbourne i agree. but they werent all true musicians outside mike. if u see live concerts u can see what i mean. they had many writers including Neil Diamond, and they auditioned for a comedy show, about a band. they only learned 2 play and sing when it got big. it wasnt a band that used a show 2 get big. in any event i love the music!! i watched them everyday, before cable when u had 5 channels...3,6,10,29,48. LOL!! glad 2 see others enjoying it also!!

@ginacranbourne they were 4 individuals, that didnt know each other when the auditions were done... they were chosen to create the show bout 4 musicians etc, and very true - they brought their own talent into the show and became brilliant musicians in their own right... i guess thats why they were and still are very successful...
