In fact, all America's power and military superiority in the cold war came about directly from Nazi science and technology they secured after the defeat of Germany..much of the weapons programs and even some bizarre stuff like flying saucers and rockets used in the space race was continued in US...even the atomic bomb came about from German scientists. Germany was working on one long before America even knew what one was.

@xenbay The V2 rocket was developed to deliver an atomic war head, not just a 1/2 tonn high explosive war head it initially delivered. Their atomic bomb was way behind the development of the V2, so britain was very lucky the two events didn,t happen at the same time or it would be a very very different world than what we have today.

That set Germany back several years didn't it and allowed US to speed up their nuclear program which was supported by UK. I wonder though, if Germany had got atomic bomb first, would they really have used it on UK? Perhaps just the knowledge would have convinced UK to form an alliance with Nazis

These talks were closed down by the government, the abdication of the King, and Nazi invasion of Poland... but had Nazis had the atomic bomb already I think that would have brought a very different outcome to those early alliance discussions.

Britain+France started the war with Germany in the second great war after Germany invaded Poland or whatever. Hitler never wanted to fight Britain or France. They just wanted to reclaim some of the land they lost and re-earn the respect that was taken. Hitler and his office has mine.
