CEF-Libertarian Paul is and he lives in the real world. We need more Ron Pauls. Obama is into covert action. The CIA he never discusses ending. He renewed the Patriot act and his Executive order on December 16th, 2009 gives INTERPOL full diplomatic immunity. Stop the tide toward fascism! Ron Paul 2012!!!!
regardless of his political party he is still a libertarian. you dont have to be apart of the libertarian party to believe in freedom. i would think that most libertarians would be against political parties anyways.
i wouldnt call him a patriot simply because it suggests nationalism. i dont think Congressman Paul would want to be labeled as a nationalist. libertarianism is all about individuality.
I think IF Ron Paul was elected, he would still have an uphill battle with Congress. A unified system also has an easier chance of passing spending bills, anyway.
A free market does not assume that human beings are basically good, it merely assumes that people will act in attempting to better their situation.
You assume that government is basically good, but what is government made of if not humans? When was the last time a corporation dropped Agent Orange over large swaths of a country, or dropped bombs of depleted uranium? When was the last time a company set up sanctions against a country that caused the deaths of half a million children?
Good discussion. But libertarianism is flawed. Allowing free markets to operate unregulated assumes human beings are basically good, which is clearly a false assumption. That's why we have government, because human beings are not good.
Does our government do any good at all, really? They have ruined Education, health care, drug war(which should not exist), flawed monetary policies, I could go on and on.
Also, we should not assume that because governments have failed in ways in the past, that they always will fail. Governments ought to promote the good. And they have at times in the past.
And what good have poorly regulated corporations done for us? I know a couple still trying to recover from the enron fiasco. I will give you the point on education though--what a disaster that has been.
What?! Do you have to call people names with whom you disagree? That's intelligent! Usually, when someone resorts to namecalling, they are trying to cover up the fact that they have no good argument, or that they themselves lack intelligence.
You are assuming that the human beings who call themselves "the government" are basically good. The concept of the state gives individuals far more power than they could ever achieve by providing goods & services in a free market. Power is in fact what generally attracts them to government. These are of course some of the very worst people in the world. Informed libertarians assume no such thing as you assert. There are many basically rotten people. It's better to disperse the power they crave.
"Ron Paul is unelectable" -Rush Limbaugh said recently.
Last time i checked this is his 11th term. That means 11 elections and 22 years. In a very liberal district. Fuck you Rush.

What good have poorly regulated corporations done us? Enron, e.g. I will give you the point on education though, but not on the war against drugs.
