This was a really enjoyable video to watch. Family is so important, and bilingualism is something I wish I were brought up with. I have Mexican and Puetro Rican family members by my brothers' marriages. I always find the accents beautiful.
This video makes a lot clear for me. You know, I've been subscribed to you for many years now. Almost since you started out in, what was it, 2006 I think. Never knew your mum was Spanish (or Mexican). It explains your somewhat Spanish sounding username.
This is an awesome series of videos. A real joy to follow.
I had no idea you were bi-lingual and your mum was Mexican! I suppose Rojas should have been a little clue there :P Congratulations to your sister and her gorgeous son :) I loved this video, as I loved all your videos and I'll be very sad when NYR is over, I love these daily ones! (P.S. Agent Cody Banks is THE BEST! Oh Frankie Muniz *swoon*)
I love this video! New baby is adorable! My baby cousin has his first birthday party this weekend. I can't believe it. They are supposed to stay little forever.
I speak English and Dutch fluently, and I mix the two languages up as well when I'm at home. My friens also think it strange when I'm on the lhone to my mum in English, and I'll just drop in a Dutch word here and there xD
I do the same thing when I go home and am being lazy. I'll speak English when I should probably be speaking more Arabic. :-p But anyway, congratulations to your sister for the new addition to the family.
@cederhr yessss! I completely agree! Rosi is seems so comfortable with being herself and has a great view on life. She's brilliant and she inspires me too!
wow... You're very brave for offering yourself so freely to the world. I don't know if I could do an insight quite so in depth. On top of that, I always admire your videos, and I think you're quite the amazing young woman. You seem to have things so settled and I really admire the way you're able to share things freely, add your opinions and be almost fearless. It's an inspiration to watch you daily and see all the little things that make you who you are.
It's so weird - I know that you're Mexican, and yet I never imagined that your home life would be so similar to my Russian family's bicultural/bilingual existence! Except I bet that my mother would never agree to speak English for the camera, despite being able to do so quite well.
What a lovely (growing) family you have! The ideal situation for a Mexican grandmom: having her family all together and enjoying each other!
I relate to so much in this video. Your mom's Spanish (which is beautiful, by the way), watching your nephew grow (same here), using the same tea bag multiple times. One question: does your family (or you yourself) ever make cinnamon tea? I think it's a bit of a Christmas/winter thing in the Mexican culture.
Cool! I didn't know you were part Latina lol :) I am too! I recently began watching your videos and I like listening to your point of view on things. You got a good head on your shoulders missy! :)
My grandmother died yesterday. I can't articulate it exactly, but there is something very comforting about watching you with your nephew and learning that he came into the world just as my nanny was going out.
Congratulations to your sister and the babydaddy! 'Feel every word' - I recognise that tagline, because I was giggling at it on a receipt earlier... it sounds like they were inspired by Mills&Boon or similar. :p
I'm sure you've deleted videos since your first upload, Rosianna, but according to your video count, this is your PI VIDEO! (314) YAAAAY... although I guess you are more of an English person than a math person but- but still.
Favorite video yet, methinks! I always appreciate hearing you discuss things and share bits of your life wit us, but this felt particularly special! Thank you, Rosianna!
It's so strange to be reminded that you're part Mexican and to hear your mother. You always seem so English (speaking as a British person, not a patronising American "Oh, you're sooo British!")
It took me a while to realise why you -weren't- speaking Spanish after you said that you're lazy sometimes and speak english. I was on the edge of my seat, flexing my GSCE Spanish muscles! Eventually it did pop into my head that you were speaking English for us, too.
Random questions (I'm really into second language acquisition!): Would you say you feel more comfortable in either English or Spanish? And is there one you think in more often? Do you consciously switch between thinking in the two? I'm a bit of a foreign language/multilingualism nerd, so I find these things fascinating!
TFiOS! Hooray :) I'm reading it at the moment, soo good, I'm up to chapter ten, I got it the other day and I just can't put it down, love it! Also, I'm currently learning Spanish with a friend on Skype :P So erm, hola, soy Ryan Murphy, como estas..? Hmm, that's not right... is it..?
No one understood what I meant when, upon seeing a picture of my cousin's daughter at around a year old (not having seen her since she was 2 months old) I said 'I can't believe she's a proper little person now!'. I think you expressed it better than me =P
Rosiana, could you make a video talking about your experiences being brought up bilingual, how much mexican culture was a part of your life then and now? And Spanish language? I'm a languages student and fascinated by child language acquisition, Estare muy interesada saber de tus experiencias, un abrazo! And congratulations to your sister and her beautiful baby boy!
@plickaplicka7 it has a gate on either side, so technically it's private, regardless of the fact that there's a regular market there each weekend day or that the gates are pretty much always open except on, you know, Sundays.
This was really nice, just looking into your life for a day! It was quite different from many of your other videos, but I cant quite put my finger on the difference.
Next week I'm working in a bookshop for instead of beeing at school. I am very excited about it, do you as a bookseller have any advice for me?
@PsykoDay It's great fun, but just be sure to listen in when the booksellers give recommendations, I still learn loads from my colleagues and from the customers' reactions. Just pay a lot of attention constantly, basically!
