I don't understand why some Muslims are so quick to defend an act that even some of religious leaders have said is acceptable. Slavery exists in the Muslim World. It is against Islam to own another Muslim as a slave, but you can own non-Muslims. So what these Muslims are doing to other Muslims is haram! It is vial & inhuman and yet slavery still exists today! What some religious leaders is not usually what the Holy Quran really teaches. There is no priesthood in Islam, and if some wicked "religious leader" said that slavery is OK then he only represents his wicked and un-Islamic point of view. Salvery is outlawed in every Muslim country as far as I know. It is also strictly forbidden to own a slave as I showed from the Holy Quran, whether a Muslim one or a non-Muslim one. Prophet Muhammed never owned a slave because as I said, those Hadiths that you refer to are fake and unauthentic. The Holy Quran clearly orders us to free slaves. "Ah, what will convey unto thee what the Ascent is! (It is) to free a slave," [90:12-13]. Again, Islam never allows slvery, whether at war or at peace.
Now, I admit that I do not know much about the history of Africa, but please understand that what something bad Muslims might have done is prohibited by Islam and condemned by Muslims.

There is nothing called "Sunna". Sunna is unauthentic recordings of prophet Muhammed. Prophet Muhammed lived by the Holy Quran. That's Islam for you = Holy Quran.
The verse does not say "rape" at all. 4:23 talks about the women that we are forbidden to marry. 4:24 does not say we can marry "Ma Malakat Aymanukum" even if they are married. 4:24 is a continuation from and says that we should not marry Muhassanat women.

I will have to read the book however, and see his sources......there is just too little proof in what I currently know for me to believe this right off the bat. I am a Muslim, and Islam does not allow you to just take people as slaves, except as a POW, and I dont know of any Muslim army entering that area of the world.
