nice video. i would like to see she improving her Cw skill in the future. so she can send and receive faster than this. im not good in CW, but im keep practicing is on my free time.
first time I ever see a cute ham girl...funny,,,,,, but nice, I went to radioshack another day to buy a 102" whip and by the way I asked if by any chance they would have a cw keyer... two grandpas in the store turned to me and say... wow boy.. you are really old school...LOL...
Im also learning morse... hopefully I can work something out in a month or so...
Very nice, I just passed my Technician Exam yesterday! Now I'm studying for my General Exam and also trying to learn CW. Even though it's not required anymore, I want to learn it because it's something radio operators should know IMO. Great video BTW.
Good to see younger folk enjoying the wonders of vintage equipment. Keep up the great work! You're extremely lucky to be able to use such wonderful equipment!
Nice one Denise. Takes me back to my schoolboy days netting in with seperate Tx/RX. I used a two tube Tx (6CH6 multiplier and 807 PA) with separate 7MHz VFO power output about 20watts 10-40m and a Realistic DX160 receiver.
Right after you said "QRL?", didn't you hear the station come back with a -.-- . ... or "yes"? LOL! I heard it! Nice station. I just love Viking Rangers.
he gentlemen who got me started in amateur radio in 1967and gave me my novice exam, W7EPI (Now a silent key) had a Johnson Viking Ranger in his ham shack and a Hallicrafters S-38B. When I passed my Novice test, he gave me the Hallicrafters S-38B to use with a Haliicrafters HT-40 transmitter for my novice station. He had bought and he acquired a newer receiver. That Viking Ranger had very high quality sounding modulation on AM phone.
congratulations ! its a real pleasure to remember myself at the same age learning CW !!! please practice and practice again because in few months or few years it will be a great reward for you and for us !!!! f6arl com

What do you use for a TR switch or to protect the receiver? I have a similar set-up about to be deployed!

You didn't catch "Yes"? It was Q5. LOL. The station should have sent "C" instead of "Yes".
I used an old Viking Valiant back in the early 70's.
