  • @sugashack74 --- Shout out to South Side Queens. This was the anthem. whaaaaat!

40 projects, Hollis, St Albans, Farmers Blvd, Rochdale Village, etc. Grandmaster Vic blend tapes were everywhere.

  • I WAS born in 1988, my boyfriend who apreciate good old classics introduced me to this song and we'v ever since made it our song...the song is so diverse goes beyond age, and even tho he wants me to kip holdin on to our relationshp whneva i hear it, it's also inspirational on a personal level to kip reachin to the top.

  • The DJ that made this song famous is from South Jamaica Queens Named Grand Master Vic. He used to blend this song with either a hip hop song or another R&B Track. The other mix I know Grand Master Vic for is his Phil Collins/MC Lyte blend.

  • This is the JAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM YES!

  • I first heard this track in 1984 in Sydney and it was part of a compilation cassette a DJ in NYC had put together called 'Late Night Rendezvous' there was another track with the lyrics

    Sunshine..... your my sunshine baby......

    Sunshine..... your my sunshine baby......

    and another track with lyrics

really wanna get close to you , don't you know I wanna get close to you .....

The tape was my all time fav, sadly some arsehole stole it and I would really like to get a copy of it if anyone knows how

  • ll cool j around the way girl......intro....tune!!!!this and that.

  • @cradleofjohannes. Your points are correct. I should have used the adjective 'borrowed' instead of "stolen" Pete Rock and DJ Premier are the kings of beats in my opinion.

  • NEVER GIVEUP.. . .

  • one cool tune. X

  • Sean Price - Sabado Gigante . ^^

  • What do you know about Keni Burke? Well, Pete Rock and CL Smooth stole this to make the song "Take you there" in the mid-1990s.

  • @djbakpane1 stole is not the proper term...Pete sampled it. Plus Pete gave credit to Keni and any other artist he samples. If he hadn't sampled this great song then we wouldn't have one of the best hip hop song there is.

  • Keni is playing Band on the Wall / Manchester this February the 19th. Can't wait!
