  • lol clean 20-30 shots... i shoot bout 100 at a time when i go out... oops...

  • So this is how you clean a rifle.

  • If you have any scratches inside the barrel, what could help to remove the scratches?

  • f'n talk you silent mofo

  • Would rubbing alcohol be safe to put through a barrel?

  • I love that stock. What kind of rifle is that? Caliber? (sorry for all the questions... I'm drooling.)

  • what do you do to clean the exterior of the barrel, if there is some dirt or grime what do you use?

  • I have a remington 700 and I will use Hoppes 9 or Break Free. I will wet patch, brush , dry patch and do this routine 4 or 5 times and the patches never come out clean. There is always some dirt on the patch (light gray streaks not black or dark). The gun is very sub 1 moa and I will routinely shoot 600 yards with it. Any recommendations or is it really not a problem?

  • @WinMOD42 , Yes you want it to spin. Their are much easier and better ways to clean a firearm. The best thing ive found is to use a product called "wipeout" its removes copper, carbon and anyother metal that isnt supposed to be in the bore. Send me a PM if you have any other questions on how to clean a gun.

  • What if you use only Balistol ????

  • My push rod has a handle that swivels. Do you want the metal scrubbing tip to spin as you push it through the rifled barrel? Is this why the handle swivels on the push rod?

  • i love this porn

  • Do you brush the barrel with a nylon brush with KRoil on it just as a rust-guard? Or is it to further clean the barrel aswell?

  • @larshenrik91 I use plastic or fiber brush to wet barrel with Kroil

  • @birgrunar

Yes, you dont use the KRoil as a cleaner, just as preservation?

  • @larshenrik91 As a preservation.

  • DO NOT LEAVE SOLVENT IN BORE OVERNIGHT!!!!!!!!

    You will damage the bore

  • @54zk No. Milder solvents like Shooters Choice is ok. It is only the stronger solvents and solvents with ammonia blend that will damage bore, if letting it stand too long in bore.

  • @birgrunar

I use G96 all purpose cleaner. It says it can be used to coat the gun afterwards for storage, I would assume this would be safe in the bore as well right?

  • all these vids are for cleaning bolt or top loading what about pump action guns

  • i just bought my first rifle, an M91/30 mosin nagant and I've been trying to learn on my own how to take care of it through youtube and online research.

What is Kroil and what is it used for?

What is the purpose for having to brushes?

Any help would be appreciated, thank you in advance!

  • How do you tell which size of a brush to use in your barrel how hard should the brush push through can I damage my riffleing

  • 1:59 im sorry but are you retarded, that is a bore guide

  • Where can you get all of these things? Actual brand names/part numbers? I'm having trouble finding some of them for my .308 Remington 770.

  • Thank you for video. Everything look professional, especially white plastic receivers that are are used to guide rode inside the barrel. I did not see such things before.

I have one question regarding layout of the rifle. I found the following comment in my rifle manual.

{--Barrel should lay horizontally with the ejection port facing down during cleaning--

Does anybody know what does it mean ? Should it lay muzzle up or muzzle down ? What ejection port actually is ?

  • @tube4stas the ejection port is were the shells leave the rifle on most right handed rifles its on the right hand side

  • @tube4stas Ususllay barrel is pointing a little down at muzzle end ( Bore cleaner running forward and out)

Ejection port is where empty cartridges are ejected out and new ammo cases inserted (in a single shot)

  • i have 2 questions, i have been cleaning my gun using hoppe's no.9 solvent is that good or bad? and what should i use to clean the outside of my gun, if i have to that is. please answer thanks

  • @poopdawg2301 Hoppes 9 is good. Also on outside. I prefer Shooters Choice.

  • I've got a question: when people talk about their guns having shiny bores, do they mean the actual inner walls of the barrel or do they mean the riflling? Is there a way to fix a dark "bore"?

  • @Supertomiman If bore is blued it is blued !

Do your best to have it cleaned well.

  • Where do u get the white tube for 10/22..AR-15, SKS ect.... If I do not have that tube, Is that OK to clean without that white tube??? I never see anybody use that tube before!!

  • @CharlieDoan The "White Tube" is a guide for the cleaning rod, to prevent damage and wear of the throat of chamber and barrel. It also helps to keep cleaning solvent out of the action of rifle. Thus preventing solvent and oil to leak into stock and weaken it, and protecting trigger. If action cleaning tube can not be used due to design of action, it is good to have above info in mind. We have to clean rifle barrel bore aniway.

  • @CharlieDoan Not only does it protect the action & the stock but is also keeps the patch clean as you may get some supplemental carbon/other fouling as you push the rod into your bore to clean it...

  • Thanks for video. Just got my first bolt action rifle and this video was helpful. Do I need to lubricate BOLT or video show everything I need to do with it ??. I got 3 rds mag so i guess i need to cleen there too.

  • @hateutubepolicy It is good practice to use a small grease dip on locking lugs.

High qualit grease as Molikote etc.

  • thanks for sharing. i usually take the bronze brush off at the crown never pull it back threw the barrel only forward,

  • @shouldidoit Thank you !

  • so the regular solvent cleans lead and powder fouling? Or JUStT powder fouling? Also, if you have a coat of protecting oil in the bore, do you have to clean it out (make the bore dry) before firing? or can you use the firearm with an oiled bore?

  • @generfeld Always dry bore out before shooting! Best is to use Kroil to oil bore, and then dry it out before shooting. There will be a micro thin film on surface to help the cleaning process next time. A good solvent Shooters Choice and Hoppes clean both powder and copper.

  • @birgrunar so if I understand correctly. If you store the gun, run oil through it. then when you go to shoot it, just run a couple dry patches through it? Is there any harm if using for hunting to not oil the barrel and just stop after cleaning?

  • @99kokanee If you want to go hunting soon after cleaning, then it is ok not to wet barrel with oil. Wetting barrel with Kroil oil is thought as a making a micro film on barrel surface, which helps when you clean next time. When storing rifle for longer time, days or weeks it is good to wet barrel with cleaning solvent like Shooters Choice. Letting the solvent work on fowling which may be left in barrel.

In both cases Kroil or Solvent wetting, barrel must be dried out before shooting.

  • @birgrunar Thanks for the info. I was not exactly sure on the proper oiling techniques. Thanks a whole bunch!!!

  • Great video!!! Thanks gonna use this to help break in my rifle barrel

  • @ncpolice555 Thank you. An article is on website rifflar.com/cleaningbarrels.html

  • best video about rifle cleaning on youtube

  • @georgewashington92 Thank you

  • Whats the point of a bore guid and a muzzle guid and whats the difference? oh and how tight should a bronze brush fit in the barrel?

  • It's to prevent cleaning rod contact with the bore. If you use a fiberglass cleaning rod it's not a big deal. Cleaning rods are the biggest cause of bore damage short of improper cleaning. But the two are the same..

  • @justorn The Bore guide is to protect the throat of chamber. To get as straight line as possible when pushing and pulling cleaning rod.

  • @justorn The bore guide is to protect throat of chamber. Good brush new, for a given caliber is quite stiff new, as for 6 mm calibers the copper brush is 6.5 to 6.8 mm

  • what is that tool that you put in place of the bolt and where would i get one for my remington .300 win mag

  • That is a bore guide. You can get one from just about anywhere, but I recommend either Dewey or Lucas.

  • @shitluck66 It is called a bore guide or action cleaning tube

  • This is a very educational video. Spot-on tips, nothing missed that I knew of. But just for the record, I sure hope that you guys out there who own guns already know how to properly clean and maintain them.

  • Thank you ! For your insight in this.

This knowledge is realy needed !

  • @ArmagonAuthor Hey there I have had my deer rifle for about a year now. And I don't know how to properly clean it. Okay I am a girl and lean one day at a time.

  • @u842

I'm a girl too. I didn't mean to single anyone out or criticize. I just meant that for safety's sake, I think it's important to learn how to clean your gun properly if you are using it. All it takes is a small piece of dirt in the barrel to cause it to explode. My dad had a scare with that quite a while ago, and even he is an expert. The best of luck with your rifle!

  • @ArmagonAuthor Thank you!

  • maybe a lodged stone, not a peice of dirt thats tiny.

  • Whats the name of the gun or is it custom cause it is beautiful

  • Thank you.

Yes this is a custom made rifle cal. 6 mm PPC, by me at BRS Custom Rifles. The Action is BRS Custom Made (very special) Stainless Steel. Hart Rifle Barrel plus an extra barrel new, ready to screw on. McMillan Fiberglass stock. Jevel 2 oz. SS trigger. Leupold 36x Scope. This rifle is shooting in the 1/8 " minute acuracy categorie. One of the most accurate rifles I have made so far.

Custom made hand reloding tools, made with the same reamers, as chamber of barrel.

  • Love this VDO, just bought my first WWII rifle and needed to learn the proper way to clean it...thanks!

  • Here's a tip I just learned about: After cleaning, spray your bore brushes with brake parts cleaner (or dip them in alcohol) to neutralize the solvents. It makes the brushes last much longer as the solvents errode the brush material as effectively as they do copper and lead fouling.

  • Yes you are so right. The brushes last longer.

  • nice gun, but im trying to find air rifle cleaning videos. i cant find any lol

  • I was short of patches, so I tried using torn paper towels for the bulk of the cleaning... and they worked just fine! I guess that while water really makes them soft, solvent and oil didn't seem to. Naturally, I finished up with a couple of commercial patches.

  • Same here I have used paper towls, wrap them around a jag, properly adusted as to making them not too stiff in bore.

    They work very well.

  • Thanks, well put together.....

  • You are welcome !

  • nice and quiet so you can concentrate 5/5 id give it 10 but unfortunately i cant thanks! =D

  • There are as many ways to clean as there are to shoot. Many tactical shooters don't clean until we see a drop in accuracy. I am at over 300 rounds since my last cleaning.

The key is to make sure you use a bore guide, quality cleaning rod FOR YOUR CALIBER, a good jag and patches. If you brush make sure you are not reversing the direction of the brush IN the bore.

.22's will actually shoot better if you don't clean them at all.

You should wipe out the action after every shooting session.

  • how come in this vid you out in your oil then add more solvents with the oil?

  • @thedon12341

He actually did not add more solvent. He had two plastic bottles one of them had oil. It was confusing because he use the metal Kroil can at first then the plastic bottle of Kroil during the part where he added more oil.

  • srry for being a pest but also dosnt the wired brush scratch the barrel or no and how much is that fiber brush and do u need 1 or can u just use a mop?

  • i also want to know what are all the thing i need to clean my rifle i have a cleaning kit but like as far as oil and cleaning solvents here is what i got hoppe's no. 9 solvent hoppe's elite gun oil tri-care gun cloth and break free powder blast gun cleaner are these any good?

  • do you realy need all that equipment just to clean a bore i just bought a 22. ruger yesterday im new to this stuff but i also want the best for my gun such as brushes mops cleaning solvents etc.

  • Yes for a centerfire rifle.

You can use softer method for a 22 Long Rifle, since you will not get copper fouling, but you get powder and lead fouling, and it is important to clean well if you want to preserve the barrel and get top accuracy.
