You only told one part of the creation story, there are two others that open as we read on. When reading the creation story, we are really reading three parallel stories written as one. The fouth day becomes as the first. The spirit brooded above the waters. Noah sent out a dove across the waters. Jesus came up out of the water the Holy Spirit came down upon him in the form of a dove. The earth is also destroyed in the creation story,before the Noah story.
