This mayor was asked to comment on the racial profiling the police department was being accused of. That's a serious accusation. It would be like saying you were going to a rap concert in response to accusations of racism, or eating Japanese food after putting Japanese Americans in internment camps: I don't see how liking any product of another culture makes you immune to racism. It's the kind of excuse racists use: token black friends/artifacts to deflect criticism.

The idea that people shouldn't be offended by an elected official brushing their entire ethnicity off in the context of civil rights baffles me. I think it's a disgrace. Maybe you don't think so, but I hope that you can at least see how that kind of remark can damage people's faith in a mayor's commitment to their well-being.

the problem is not that Hispanics eat tacos, the problem is that in that city 4 police man where arrested for some shit that impacted the Hispanic community... so, the question has nothing to do about tacos, fiestas or piñatas, the question is about what the major going to do so the police stop being fucking idiots and stop arresting people just by the way they look...
