my father has just been diagnosed with Cholangiocarcinoma and been given a life expectancy of a few months. Contact details of Dr Visser at stanford would be much appreciated. please email me on osman@qiblah.co.uk or call on 0044 7590678817. thanks
I am so very sorry. I feel very grateful for each and every day, but my heart aches for you. It was strange I was diagnosed one day to the year of my mom's viewing---so please take care of yourself. There is nothing like the loss of a mom. My mom was loved deeply and she is deeply missed. I know one day we will be reunited in heaven & what a glorious day that will be! I trust God is bringing family closer to Him! I pray God blesses you during the Christmas season. Lovingly, Twilla
I truthfully did not have alot of symptoms. Mainly just fatigue and alot of bloating. They have found that most people with this cancer also have stomach issues---usually ulcerative colitis is a link. I ate fried foods and felt like I swallowed a golfball and they found out I had gallstones. By God's grace, that is when they found the tumor. Usually, people are jaundice bf they discover it. God is good. Blessings and Love!
Your very lucky.... My grandfather died from this disease in 3 weeks after getting Jaundice. I believe god is good but I always wonder why he would choose someone to live but yet others die...especially children ... I feel god allows free will to play out and you were fortunate...I"m not saying miracles can't happen I"m just saying I can't imagine god choosing you to live but letting a 4 year old child die..makes no sense... I"m glad your ok though...
I am very sorry for all who have gone through this... My father in law just went through this two days ago and luckily the surgery was a great success!!! Initially, there was not a lot of hope based on the diagnosis. However, the doctors were able to remove the tumor completely. Hopefully, everything continues ok...
Today happens to be the 1 yr anniv. of my Cholangiocarcinoma surgery (Aug3rd 2010) at Stanford Hospital here in CA. I was first diagnosed in July at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in SJ, & my docs told me my tumor was far too advanced and aggressive to risk surgery. But within 2wks, Dr Visser at Stanford did a 10hr Whipple miracle & "got it all" - along with most of my liver&pancreas! Since then we've been 100% cancer free for a year (without needing Chemo or Radiation therapies!!!)
@lucybar10 I have an auto immune disease called PSC or Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis, Diverticulosis/itis, gallbladder out and checked very frequesntly for Cholangiocarcinoma...

Amazing! It's interesting how one doctor tells you that you have months or a few years at best and another doctor gives you a new lease on life.
