@alvinleefan hey guy,ask Paul McCartney about that.women get what they can and split.it's just the way it plays out.best bet is pick one with a set of 6" spikes and a very short skirt.
@nomiclas --Aw, that is like saying all men are pigs, isn't it? Besides, when a man picks a woman who fleeces him, his friends usually see it coming and tries to warn him, but he won't listen. No short skirts and spiked heels for me, although I look good in them even at my advanced age. LOL. I would take Alvin Lee without a penny to his name or clothes on his back. :)
@alvinleefan i've just seen what money does to people.good intelligent rebuttal.all women are not whores and all men are not pigs.i wonder where i fit in?Alvin was the definition of kool.so i hope your infatuation can come to reality.you sound pretty neet!
@nomiclas -- Yes, money can do sickening things to even good people, sadly. I very much appreciate your good thoughts. Mr. Lee is living happily with his long-time girlfriend, and she appears to be a lovely and special woman. I am very happy for both of them, truly. As for where you fit in --- you sound like a good guy. Advise from an older woman: if you treat all women with respect, whether they deserve it or not, you will never have any regrets. :)
@alvinleefan you might say i've been around awhile.i've also taken a pretty big bite of life.i try to treat others with respect and like it that way for myself.i just like the way you responded to my early comment.you sound well balanced.
@nomiclas -- thanks for the "well balanced" comment. You should have seen me two weeks ago when I first re-discovered Alvin Lee after all these years. I was a borderline lunatic, crazy about that man. :)
@alvinleefan if you have to go crazy,it's a good place to start.how did you get this passion? my brother was way koolier than me when we were younger and TYA was a big deal with him.i own all the first LP vinyl and every now and then i treat myself to a TYA concert.usually loud and just get rockin'have you ever seen Alvin live?what do you think about TYA w/o Alvin?
@nomiclas -- I haven't listened to R&R for decades. I like opera and classical music. About 2 weeks ago I was in the mood to see that sexy young Alvin Lee sing "I'm going home", and was hit by a lightening bolt. I began an Alvin search and saw what I have been missing all these years. I did see TYA in 1970 at the L.A. Forum, row 3 - all I remember is that Alvin was so hot I kept falling down into the lap of the guy sitting next to me. LOL. I don't listen to TYA w/o Mr. Lee. no time.
Great tune from 1 of the greatest guitarists ever. Saw Ten Years Later tour in 79 at Dayton Hara Arena, scarecely 3000 folks there. Zappa had been there night before and money was slim,{Jimmy Carter era}. Alvin said he would make the ones there beglad they came and he did. Open act was Blackfoot. Better days.
rbobbitt57, tell me more about the cruise and Alvin and I was a one time conversation I dont see him being interested Not trying to speak for him He may respond if he sees this That would be cool but fans and the stars, world of DIFF. There is a video on here? he is jumping rope?? he stays in shape, would love to hear back From him dont look for it TEN YEARS AFTER I'll never forget their musical influence in my time ROCKED MY NUTS NEARLY OFF HI Alvin Lee if your out there, best to you friend.
I got the best and true story to follow up,,, I got an emai from THE MAN HIMSELF ! Alvin LEE ! I suppose anyone might visit these sites....HE DID and got back to me ! He is alive and doing very well somewhere in S. California! ! It was a real thrill. He looks good and feels good and living life. As a hillbilly from Kentucky, this email, I will never forget. His music, is still very special to me, as many times the memories of being with my girl friends and the times , at that time in my life
I first started smokin to this music...hash oil.....wow....smoked that before doobies..............thoses were good old days....rock and roll Alvin Lee...Rock on ......thanks for posting this music....the crap nowa days insnt music at all.....Rock out.......
It's not the best solo I've ever heard, but overall, a pretty good song. I've often wondered how awesome this song would have sounded if someone like Duane Allman or Keith Richards had played it. Alvin Lee is ok but his phrasing is nowhere near the other great players of his era
@lpmcgaha Keith Richards is not as good as Alvin Lee or Duane Allman, maybe you wanted to say Mick Taylor (because he was the Stone lead guitar player from 1969 to 1974 and he is a f****** god on guitar !!!)
I was around back then to see them live a few times. They were unbelievable. One of the most powerful rock bands ever. Alvin Lee plays guitar like no one else and Chick Churchill was the best bassist I ever saw and I saw all the super groups of the seventies many times. Great memories and I always hope I could see Ten Yrs After once again
Love the TYA , in early 70s Alvin Lee and Ritchie Blackmore 2nd and 3rd on Rithm & Blues and Rolling Stones magazines charts, i dont remember who was nº 2 and 3 but it was diferent on the 2 magazines. Nº 1 was Jimi but he was already dead (RIP), that make this guy the nº 1 ex aequo with Ritchie Blackmore.
Saw these guys headline at the Spectrum in Philly. Full to overflowing. Mountain was 2 on the bill and Black Sab opened-2nd only performance in the States. It was for me the summer between grades 5 and 6. I was in trouble the rest of the year with my parents and a rock goddess at school. BTW, TYA earned every second of that top billing. They tore it up!
My dad raised me with this music. He bought me my first guitar when I was 11, and now I'm 19 we go almost every weekend to a bar and jam with some friends and strangers... He tells me every weekend(drunk) that he wished that he would have started playing an instrument when he was young. He sees how much fun I have playing Hendrix, Cream, TYA etc.
@yoursatan drunks might sound dillusional but it's the best time to get the truth from them.i think your dad is living vicariously through you.you should be honored.it sounds like you have a great dad that loves you and wants to be near you.lucky, lucky, lucky!
@blackandtanful your absolutely correct SSSH is a real masterpiece.i have the vinyl LP and love it.i hope you love rock.it's the language of the world.u-tube has put us all in the heart of it.ROCK ON!
@60otaku3 That means it's wonderful. Please don't delete his comment. It's like when you call someone's car bad as in "Baaaed" it means it's kewl. That's what that's "sick" means now in slang. I mistook you for a young American kid who couldn't understand his baby boomer grand dad. Nevermind.
Great song! One of their best. I saw them live at least two or three times back in the late '60s and even got closeup pix of Alvin Lee during a concert in Central Park. The peace sign on his guitar was his trademark. He had it all over any of these so-called guitarists playing today. Wonder whatever happened to him. He could show these kids a thing or two . . . or MORE!
@paulieka Watched this cat throw into it somewhere in the early seventies. Rory Gallagher was another one behind him that would give it ALL. How about Steve Marriot? Yow!
@paulieka SOO glad to hear these young ones enjoying this music. We really enjoy it too, yeah too bad you weren't around back then. But then again you'd be 59, like...ahem...me. lol
Alvin Leeeeeeee!!! Undoubtedly one of the finest blues guitarist in terms of talent and skill. He would never dress as though he were ready to rake leaves in the yard.
