Last night, I rented a movie on VUDU.com and was trying to watch it. I could not. I checked my speed and it was 0.6Mbps. CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?! IS THIS DIALED UP SPEED! Their technical support had me do all kind of checks. 6 hours later, I still could not watch it. If I knew they will get this bad, I would never have signed a contract with you. I was stupid enough to get the home phone and mobile hotspot service too.
I must say, I see that a lot of people are having trouble with their connection with clear. I think it's because most, if not all of the people that are having trouble with their clear service do not have their modem in a prime location to receive the signal correctly. When I started my clear service I was very disappointing in the speed of my internet as well until I moved my modem to the living room instead of my bedroom. Now my internet is peaking most of the time at 8-10mbps. Sucks for you.
You just don't have your service long enough. I get 5 bars of signal from my prime window location for the modem. My speed still drops to below 1Mbps whenever Clear has "NETWORK CONGESTION" issue. I think they just signed up too many people and are not able to serve them during peak time.
Thats crazy ..I live in Houston and i get 18-19 mb/s with uverse for $ 30 per month. The Clear plan is $35!!!. they wont even tell you how fast the speed is that they offer.. a little suspicious!!! From what I understand its around 9Mb/s. But according to their website they are only wireless. I game and watch netflix on ps3 and a wired connection is the only way to go with that for me. ( makes a big difference).
Clear goes fast like speedy Gonzalez fast then it's slow as hell. I'm a gamer so I get pretty impatient with how slow it is. I hate clear so much. More like foggy service if you ask me.

@MrDarkspark17 Uhm, that's not a router, that's the modem. AFAIK that's the ONLY modem Clear uses. Clear is a scam, the proof is out there if you look. Motorola makes great modems, you must be living in a hole somewhere. My last 4 cable modems were Motorola Surfboards, they blew away all others I've seen. I'm on Frontier FiOS now, with a 25/25mbit connection. It's about 7 times faster than Clear when I had them, the upload is 15 times faster.
@npadul30 wow that's incredible, you know, considering that clear towers and modems only support up to 7.8mbps, and only sell a 6mbps plan. Here in Portland, they have lost almost all their customers. And to make up for sales, they lease their towers to comcast and sprint. Thus worsening the problem. They have a terrible business plan, terrible exec's and even worse customer service. Give them 5 years, they will be gone and sprint will own the towers to further their 4G phone service.
@blackhavocjim so true, i work for clear/clearwire, and honestly i know what goes on from the inside, they SUCK!! customer service is horrible, got untrained people workin inside, im a part time engineer, just stayin for a year for work experience and movin to HP, trust me, they are NOT gonna be in business in the next 5 years, they have outsourced their technical solution reps to make it cheaper on themselves, wait till LTE comes out, it'll be better AT&T and VZW.
Hey, maybe the tower is down and is being fixed? Also this happens to me sometimes, just unplug it let it sit for 5 mins then plug it in and works fine.
@npadul30 Definitely not, we had two of them, and only mine (was downloading a large windows update) was shut off, when i called to complain, i was told i was exceeding the acceptable use limits (i thought i paid for UNLIMITED). Anyway, I've gotten rid of them, and am back on comcast, for 29.99 a month and am getting 12mbps/2mbps and i actually get 15-18/3-4.
Maybe I am just lucky. Because I get that on my current plan and I only pay $32.50 for unlimited bandwith and get like 12 down and 1 up. Sorry to hear that you werent (and most clear customers for the most part) as lucky. :(
As soon as I'm paid up with them, I'm going back to Comcast (yeah, Comcast owns part of Clear), the early penalty fees for the contract are worth it (though I can likely get it back from the impending class action suit). I can't get FiOS here (and they wanted to scam me into going back to cable), and the remaining provider is Qwest, guess what I had to say to that.
One wonders, how much of these companies are actually owned by Comcast, and do they increase profits by crippling them?
