  • AWSOME AWSOME AWSOME, Im a blabering Fanatic of the BEACH BOYS/ AND THE GENIUS OF MR. BRIAN WILSON.....

  • Boy bands nowadays take note- this I how it's done!

  • he sings good

  • And the question remains, wich one is better Something or God Only Knows?

  • not convinced this is the london gig ... I think it's manchester

Mainly because there is a clip of me clapping after the song, and that camera could have only been there at the manchester apollo gig. It defo was not on me at the london gig !

  • 1:31 looks like bon jovi

  • I believe I read somewhere that Sir Paul McCartney gave each of his children a copy of Pet Sounds when they reached a certain age because he feels that you "can't be musically educated without hearing it." I hope this is true. Either way, I will be sure to pass on the legacy of this entire album to my children someday.

  • I may not always love you,..... but long as there are stars above you .. Classic line.

  • Fuck Mike Love

  • @TheChriskoz14ify : Nah! Having to go to a clinic would be traumatic.

  • Just compared it to a live 81 performance , he's a brilliant man , God Bless you Brian , ps my 13 year old has this on repeat in his CD player xxxxxx

  • Beautiful done... his voice is amazing.

one of the greatest tunes in history and yes McCartney loved it.

  • Two people know what they'd be without you.

  • God only knows what i'd be without you, Brian.

  • A 47 year old hockey player just cried after hearing this... and then smiled after the ability of a song to make him do it...

  • my favorite song from the beach boys..

    thanks for posting here,,

  • Ⓡⓘⓖⓗⓣ Ⓞⓝ!

  • I believe that McCartney said that this is his favorite song. As we all know that he loves and writes a lot of his own music in this style.

I guess in the long run it turns out to be a blessing that Brian stopped touring with the Beach Boys early on. As his voice sounds almost exactly the same as Carl's. So the songs were written for only one lead Wilson. This way they can live on live a little longer in Carl's absense.

Brian does a great job of keeping this faithful without the Boys.

  • @at90percent : Brian is and was the Beach Boys. Almost all of the vocals on Pet Sounds were Brian's. Carl did sing the lead on God Only Knows, though.

  • @pmoyer50 Not disagreeing that Brian was most of what the Beach Boys was, but I also don't want to trivialize Carl's roll. He was a great lead singer and I'm thankful that because they are brothers, Brian sounds extremely similar, so when he sings songs that Carl originally sang vocals on, it's not easy to tell it's someone different. Unlike when Jason Scheff sings Peter Cetera vocals.

  • god only know what i'll be without this song. keep on smiling brian :)

  • i like :)

  • Wilson really has his chops back. He is an inspiration to me.I spent years in my room and recovered to participate in life, so I relate., Music is the source. Prayers in ancient times were always sung. God only knows..

  • Was it Paul that once said this was the greatest song ever written? Either way it's brilliant!

  • If you don't believe Mike Love is the greatest beach Boy just ask him. Without Mike Love there would have been a Beach Boys. Without Brian Wilson there would have never been a Beach Boys.

  • Brian's band in 2002 nails the Beach Boys sound while Brian's vocals are outstanding!

  • FAMAZING!

  • Beautiful !

  • See Mike Love Brian is still the Number 1 Beach Boy He wrote 95% of all Beach Boy music !

  • When I hear this it takes me back to the original in the sixties. Sunny days, digging a farm cottage garden in the Lancashire countryside, and my kids playing. They're around years old now.

  • It would be just a solemn privilege to be in this guy's band.

  • Keep Rocking Brian!

  • Oh my God..what a pure voice..I don't care how old he is..he is a genius...the words of this song are so beautiful....brings me back to when I was seventeen and this song was certainly written for me, (so I thought)...

  • It is with good reason this is Paul McCartney's favorite songs.

This song is one the most perfect songs ever written.

  • What a great version. Immortal tune. Kills me.......

  • Paul has been quoted saying this is his favorite pop song of all time. And that's coming fom a guy who's penned just a few himself. Quite a tribute.

  • Oh my gosh, his voice has survived so well, wow extraordinary!

  • What's doing IT Crowd's Moss at 1:33 ...?

  • @niquequito the guy is Darien Shaharia (I think that is how you spell it) he produced the Heart Concert in 2007 - Dreamboat Annie Live - great DVD, Anne and Nancy still rocking in their mid-fifties. Here Brian shows his voice IS really getting better with age. In earlier clips you can see why Carl sang mostly but boy, this blokes refusing to go away - THANk GOODNESS!

  • BTW............... 2004, not 2002.

  • I Love Brian Wilson

  • 1 dislike? Mike Love, leave it be.

  • just shows you brian was the beach boys

  • wow

  • What a tormented talent. God Only Knows how much pain went into writing these beautiful songs. I am no 59, older and wiser, but the BB music was the song book that I grew up on in the '60's. They could tell a girl how you felt better than any Hallmark card. I pray that Brian, Carl and Dennis have all found peace. Dennis just needs to sing and we all smile a little more. Thank you for this great post.

  • What does he say exactly, in the beginning, at the end of the sentence?

  • @graafslis "Paul McCartney told me that it was his favourite tune, but I don't know if it was or not."

  • Breathtakingly beautiful performance!

  • Brilliant ..............watching Brian is wonderful....great performance .....super quality.. one of the best songs of all time..... genius.........

  • I don't know if it was Sir Paul's favorite, but it sure is mine!

  • And miles to go before I sleep... That's what watching Brian singing this song makes me think of. How many nightmares did he have to live through to get to this point. God only knows...

  • First time I heard this beautiful song, I was 8 years old and I thought it was a Spanish song. I hadn't heard this song in years and I was surprised to find out that they don't sing 'gadoliños' xD

  • Amazingly beautiful... It's sad and amazing that Brian could produce such beauty out of such a troubled mind. I'm glad he's finally found happiness.

  • Oh, god, really. There are so many stunning things about this. It's so bittersweet in that it truly is one of the most beautiful songs ever written yet there's Brian--who perhaps had THE most difficult path of the Beach Boys--singing it without his brothers and cousin, yet still going on making beautiful music.

  • brian wrote it so its his to sing :)

  • i love the beach boys! i actually live a couple of blocks down from there old hawthorne home (or where it used to be), theres a beautiful monument, i wish i could go back in time.

  • Paul McCartney what? :S

  • @borgesfelippe Favorite "tune" -meaning "song"

  • @zefer07 Thank you. =)

  • hermosoo <3 verdaderamente hermoso the beach boys <3

  • @NUMERO749 That's because no one has the balls to dislike something by Brian Wilson, lest they be struck by lightning. =P

  • 0 Dislikes.

  • I still prefer Carl's vocals on this ABSOLUTELY IMPECCABLY AMAZING song but I have to admit, this was great too.

  • @das1029 Amen to that.

This is absolutely beautiful. This is one of those few records that will never age, never stop getting played on radio. Out of all the golden oldies, this is one of the greatest.

By the way the stereo mix of this on the DVD is far superiorr to the CD version. Perhaps recorded on different nights?

  • a 220 pound 38 year old is bubblin in the next row! iam not ashamed!

  • Brian Wilson made my day :)

  • The Harmonies and the french horn is what makes this song awesome. Oh and the bass

  • No disrespect to Carl but I've kinda always preferred performances when Brian sings this.

  • RIP Carl....

  • I grew up in 72', and I can tell you as a professional musician & producer, oh GOD how I soo sorely wish music could be this BEAUTIFUL again! What can you say that really describes the core of what Brian was trying to achieve writing this song. He did what every true artist longs to do, REACH THEIR AUDIENCE! I wish music could get back to this level again, just being phenomenal and timeless. No AutoTune, no computer or software, just their voice, instruments, and straight from the heart. MUSIC!

  • Lovely, lovely, lovely!

  • One of the most beautiful pop songs EVER written. A lovely rendering here by the genius.

  • Buddy:

The most beautiful song ever written sent to one of the prettiest women who ever lived, whose beauty shines, inside and out!

    Enjoy & Keep Smiling,

    Me

  • this is one of the most beautiful song ever written. Its poetry.

  • @LovingPoontang69 I'm sorry but I just found it extremely funny to hear such a candid and mellow comment from someone with a username like yours :p

  • Sounds great!

  • If you look to the right you will find an album track of brian singing lead...

  • I was upset when Big Love dropped this as its opening song. It was perfect for that, and it's a truly perfect performance here.

  • if Brian had only written this song he would be a genius, but NO :))

  • @Rawego .. Brian did write this song... He is the genius behind The Beach Boy's music. Originally, Brian was to sing lead for God Only Knows but he gave the part to Carl because he felt Carl's voice suited the part more. Brian Wilson is a musical genius.

  • @ImNotDreamingAnymore comprehension is not your forte, right? :))

  • @Rawego I would you say something like this without doing a little research first? Do you just have no fear whatsoever of looking dumb?

  • @quedasobravo idiot, learn to comprehend. i said that if Brian had only written this one song he would be a genius, but NO, he wrote many many other great songs as well as this one! do you get it now, cripple brain purple rain??? :))

  • @Rawego Ah, your phrase had some slightly devious grammar there, got mislead, sorry... Let me revise my statement then: yeah.

    ;)

  • Carl Wilson is smiling somewhere.

  • EMOCIONANTE!!! MUITO BOM

  • This 250 pound 45 year old just cried after watching this. Absolutely beautiful.

  • @flmglps so did this 135 pound 18 year old. such is the beauty of brian wilson's music

  • @flmglps I just cried!

  • Brian certainly did Carl justice with this performance. I feel so sad for him because I know he loved Carl very, very dearly and I think that, when he died, it really backtracked his recovery just when he was getting back to normal.

  • Best intro ever! I so love Brian...

  • I'd love to have this video.

  • It's Beautiful! Brian Wilson is very well!

  • beautiful
