  • Isn't it about time we had another TFF album? I've almost worn a hole in the last CD and this track is one of the most aired.

    Brilliant stuff *****

  • Gotta agree with you,I know Curts been doing solo stuff but this was released in 2004 been six long years.

  • @steamrocket

I sooo agree! I´ve been a fan ever since I heard "Sowing the Seeds of Love" back in 1989 (totally blew my mind...), saw them in concert in 1990 and the intro to this tune, with Roland´s little speech is just wonderful! :)

  • and they're coming to manila in may! Yay!!!

  • TFF are superb

  • Yabba Dabba Dabba Dah! I love this track for all the right reasons,

  • Fantastic song, they looked like they were having fun that day. TFF will live on no matter what. Thanks to places like you tube new fanns are being made every day.

  • Algún alma caritativa me podría traducir las palabras de Roland que tanto hacen reir???

  • This is great! Loved the decending vocal and crazy bit at the end - totally unexpected yet superb.

  • I doubt Roland gets embarrassed about much of anything

  • The way he said "okay" it seemed like he was a little bit embarrassed.

  • Whoever that was shouldn't have embarrassed poor Ro like that.

  • I LOVE Tears for Fears!

  • "Tayin' ina winn. Chicka pea, chicka pea".

  • Am I the only only to feel it like REM stuff, whch is pretty good stuff BTW,,,

  • Curt rocks. plays bass like Paul Mc cartney

  • That is the whole point of this cd. A celebration of ol' Paulie's work.

  • Fill the Sky with love.....class

  • Roland already sang about his affair on RATKOS. (Secrets and Falling Down and I Choose You). OK....so now it is six years later in 2001, and this song is about a man who is in love with a much younger woman. Is the song about Roland having another affair? Or possibly the song is about Curt. Or nobody at all.

  • LOL, really? Do you think that there is the slightest chance to be about Curt? I don't think so. This song has Roland written all over it. LOL

  • GREAT song....gravity drags down my balloon....but she stays in orbit ...way after midnight...

  • Nope. Charleton, Curt and Roland all wrote this song together.

  • The drummer is Nick D'Virgilio from the progressive rock band Spock's Beard. Love Spock's Beard, especially their first 6 albums.

  • Hi MaluPC, I also have just rediscovered this magnificent band. I was very young to actually appreciate their songs better than their tunes and unique instrumental melodies. Fast forward, i am now officially addicted to them and love them more than ever, now that I am more aware of how geniously written every one of their songs (and how cute they really looked back then and still are now). Curt and Roland are the ultimate duo of all time. Love them to pieces.

  • pretty song!i like the bit about living on ice cream on coney island.yay!

  • Great Song!!!

  • gotta get fix of call me mellow!!!!!!!

  • how come they never got World wide fame

  • they did. check out Songs from the Big Chair- 1985.

  • call me mellow

  • So cool, its almost better to see them in action then the final product. Wish I could see them perform some day. Anything new for TFF?

  • They will be doing a summer tour in the U.S. and have the first official live album due sometime this summer.

  • Roland is so funny and has very good sense of humor:-) Sexy voice as well<3

  • Yup. Curt is one very underestimated bassist. His name should be up there with the greatest bassists of all time.

  • TFF - Top Banana, why did Sony drop the album from the UK?

  • This song is awesome especially starting at 3:38

  • Actually I think what Curt says is "The rest is censored"

  • As long as they've been married, there is always things like that, that go on.Roland is after all a human and male at that!

  • eahh esta rola tiene toda la esencia d los beatles

    q buena cancionn!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Of course, Roland has cheated It goes with the territory for musicians.Besides as long as hes been married I'm sure his wife is aware.

  • I wish these guys were together again preforming.

  • If you're interested kenty Tears is doing a mini-tour down the west coast starting July 10 in Woodinville, Washington.

  • So he did cheat on her...wow....Well I suppose if you have women literally throwing themselves..and their thongs ,at you, the temptation would be hard to resist.

  • Roland is married and now is too old to live stupid flirts...

  • Okay why are you taking this so literally. Roland has been married to the same woman, Caroline, since 09/10/83.

They have two children togther: Raoul who is 18 and Pascal who is almost 16.

Why, for gawd sake, would Roland want to screw up the relationship that he has with his children's mother?

  • The song 'Secrets' on Raoul & K of Spain is said to be his apology for his affair

  • Caroline must have been really pissed off at Roland for him to write a song about his infidelity to her.

  • "All I do is cause you pain/

    I won't keep secrets alive/

I'll send them off to space/

    You're my angel...."

If you listen to the Raoul cd,

"Falling Down" , "I Choose You" "Me and My Big Ideas'. Most of the CD is

    an apology for his affair.

He took a painful experience (painful for Caroline) and made art from it.

  • Roland, I guess, had all of these experiences that he wanted to write about.

How did Caroline find out about Roland's infidelity?

  • I guess the bigger question, is who was it....and what about Emiliana Torrini? I think this song is about Torrini.

  • I don't know who that is?

  • I'm next to positive he and Caroline were married in 1982!

  • September 10,1982 to be exact ~

  • yeah!! Celestek had commented above that Roland and Caroline got married 9-10-1983, and I knew better cause they married the same yr. hubby and I did. I commented in the wrong spot!

  • @squeakyben Yeah. I knew it was in the very early 80s when Caroline and Roland got married. Thank you for correcting me. :)

  • If you've ever listened to the TFF album, "Raoul and the Kings of Spain", Roland pretty much spells out on every song how he cheated on his wife, and how he is asking her for forgiveness. He also discussed it in an interview. I was sad about this for a while, but I'm over it now.

  • Do you have a link to that interview?

    Thanks.

  • do you see it? I thought I posted it, but can't find it

  • No. Sorry, I don't see it.

  • I wonder if they've ever cheated on their wives while on the road....and Roland seems to have a preference for blondes. What was the girl doing on his doorstep anyway? Didn't she know he was married? Why is he wishing he were half his age if he was happily married?

  • Curt's been with his wife, Frances, since 06/29/96 and they have two daughters together. Diva 9 and Wilder 7.

I think that after his first experience divorcing his first wife, a woman named Lynne Alvara, he wouldn't make the same mistake twice.

  • anybody who wants to coment on quality of rowlands voice or songwriting skills needs to grab a decent set of headphones and really listen to this song twentysomething years later still sounds better than most of the shit you hear on the radio today

  • I hate their new stuff, they sound too country or rock'n roll, even their singing tone and style changed besides the obvious aging effects. In the 80's they had more of a Black Soulful tone to their singing style and the synth rock instrumentals complimented them perfectly. Now they sound like old winney country folk that lost their favorite cow lol...anyway TFF FAN FOREVER

  • Roland taking a break of the "black soulful" and likes to experiment with the old and new. This kind of sound has its time and place to be enjoyed if you are open to it. His voice has always been the driving force and yeah aging is taking its toll. Although I can totally enjoy the changes that come with time and how people adapt.

  • I think both of their styles they've used have been beautiful! You can't say that the composition of their songs now are any less sophisticated, can you? I tend to think of the music they're doing not like country... since... I personally hate country. This reminds me WAY more of the intelligence of The Beatles. And... I personally LOVE The Beatles. Even the way Roland sings now reminds me of, like, Ringo.

  • Thanks for the post alabski.

  • I rather Curt singin ..

  • i definitely dont think they have it though they dont sound that bad for their age. they sound too raspy and you can really hear roland trying and not quite making it

  • Of course they sound raspy. They're not young anymore.

  • still got the talent after all these years. :')

  • One would hope that they still have it! They wouldn't have had the success that they had if they weren't talented enough.

  • Yes Celeste, their talent is definitely the key to so many of their successes. IMO, they both have that "touch of genius". I'm tickled that they're still performing after all of these years.

I've also got to admit that I enjoy hearing their candid conversations (on videos like this) as much as I enjoy hearing them sing.

  • In naam van de Muziek, laat TFF weer muziek maken!!

  • TFF OMG WTF!!!

  • I think it would be pure idiocy to screw that up.Unless Roland wanted to mess it up with me!

  • I think everyone underestemates Curt's guitar style.

I think one thing is right. In an interview Curt said that his father was away a lot. Maybe he and Roland aren't touring for too long because Curt doesn't want to be away from his girls for too long?

  • I wouldn't be surprised. I've been reading Curt's blog and he's a very devoted father. It's really sweet. =)

  • I read in another interview that he was getting very close to delinquency when he was a teenager and that taught him what he shouldn't do with his girls.

  • I read that Curt, when he was a teen, had stolen 3 violines from school to give them to Roland as a Christmas gift.

  • Oh yeah! It's very obvious that Curt devotes his time and gives love to his children. He turned down a chance to perform at Barrack Obama's victory party to be home with Diva and Wilder while Frances was out of town.

  • Didn't Curt throw someone down the stairs when he was kid too?

  • Yes he did. I remember reading somewhere that he wasn't getting any positive attention from his parents so he'd do something negative to get their attention.

I remember watching an interview that they did with Breakfast With The Arts on A&E and Roland said that a friend of his had taken him to visit Curt becaus he wasn't allowed out of the house.

  • Yes Celeste, I also read somewhere that Curt was actually 'the good boy' before, good at everything he did (academics, theater, choir), but was not getting the attention he wanted from the people he loves, so he took the other turn :-(

  • Man it must be really cool to be talented a musician...these guys can deliver anytime

  • Roland is outstanding and sexy as always.i just realised though,Curts bass is very hot!!!! i think i have underestimated Curt.

  • TFF are superb, and "Kick out the Style bring back the Jam" is one (only one) of their best lyrics (albeit is not on this song).

  • Check out Roland 2:55 - 3:03 "driving me like a truck" Excellent!

  • I really hope that he does'nt mess around ,,, He and Caroline got married the same year as my husband and I and it would be a shame to lose all of those years and the respect of his kids!!! In his interviews he speaks lovingly of her and his boys!! I'm very sure its difficult for these guys to be faithful with all the temptation in their faces!! AND, I feel sorry for Caroline and Frances!!

  • Don't feel too sorry for them. They knew what they were getting into when they married these guys. You have to be a very understanding person to be married to a rock star. But, don't worry, Roland didn't mess around. He may have found her attractive but, he also looked at her and thought "That could be my daughter". It's about the lust/guilt he felt at the time she turned up on his doorstep. It's about maturity. Being a real man. That's our Roland! A REAL MAN!

  • I love Roland. I love him for being faithful to Caroline for 20+ years. I wouldn't turn him down though. Would you?

  • Absolutely not!!! I wouldn't mind if HE just turned up on MY doorstep!!!

  • I wouldn't worry about Roland and Caroline or Curt and Frances. Curt's been married to Frances for 12 years and they have 2 beautiful little girls. Roland's been married to Caroline for 26 years and they have two teenaged boys. Why would Roland and Curt screw that up?

  • Like Roland said, Oasis sounds like the Ruttles bitch

  • I was mistaken for mellow too!

  • Curt said somewhere this song is about this girl Roland knew since she was very young, then when he was about 40, she turned up on his doorstep as this 18-year-old gorgeous woman. Song is basically about the lust and the guilt of lusting after someone who you shouldn't want.

  • Interesting to know that!

  • wish I could turn up on his doorstep and be invited in!!!!!

  • I just got this cd and it is FANTASTIC. This is the TFF I remember from the 80's. BRAVO GUYS!!!

  • Great song! I wonder if it's a tribute to The La's song "There She Goes"

  • great album alll together

  • they r always look great.thnx tears for fears.algeriano

  • And the rest is sexy? That's what it sounds like, but Roland coughs right as he says the last word.

  • At :34, is that Curt that says something, starting with "and the rest is....." Can anyone tell what the last word is? It sounds like Curt, but I"m not sure.

  • .. and the rest is sad?

  • I don't know, it sounds like 2 syllables..could be though.

  • Maybe sense? Or censored?

  • and the rest is Censored. :)

  • AHA....that's it!

  • SOOOOOO HOT CURT AND ROLAND!

  • I wanna hear the rest of that story!

  • sleep with me roland....aw!

  • This is great! Thanks for posting it. Tears For Fears! Check out Roland at 3:04 -"driving me like a truck" Great! He looks over like..."yeah."

  • wiggles his eyebrows...oh yeah, drive me like a truck Roland!!! God he's beautiful!

  • call me jessica

  • Roland is so sweet we love ya man

  • One of my favorite bands of all time. I first got into Tears for Fears when I was in the second grade (Songs from the Big Chair). Unfortunately, I didn't get to see them live until 2004 at the Warfield Theatre in San Francisco. THEY PUT ON AN EXCELLENT SHOW!!!! Thanks for posting this video. My favorite part is at the end when Roland sings,"Last time I saw you, you were howling at the moon, la la la la la la, la la la la la la.

  • dmarquis24...I saw them at the warfield too in '04!!! I thought I was gonna pass out, they're my all-time fave new wave band!!! I had a blast that night!!!! I didn't think they were going to sing "Shout"...but they just wanted to wait at the very end! greatttttt!!!

  • rinz720, wasn't that one of the best concerts you have ever seen. I totally thought they wouldn't play Shout either, but I roared as I heard the intro. One of the MOST TALENTED BANDS EVER!!! Call me mellow should have been a #1 hit (at least a top ten). The Working Hour off of Songs from the Big Chair, should have also been an A-side. I am always happy to talk with other TFF fans. They are a cool group of people!!!!

  • HEY, NINETEEN! (No weeeee got nothin' in common! No weeeeee can't talk at all! Please take me along when you slide on down...!!!)

  • Oh, and btw: no doubt he is in love with someone more than half his age...around 20, perhaps?

  • Sounds about right, considering this song is about five years old, if not older.

  • Tastyspunker, you are absolutely right! This song is a joy to listen to and it will be a classic very, very soon. Totally underrated and overlooked. And if, like myself, you are a guy over 30 - or when you get there - you cannot help but feel touched by the lyrics...

  • well think whatever you wants guys but believe we men are really discreet on that when we really care about the person he might be taking hie wife and kids but he spend time alone they are not staple to his sailor jacket LOL the girl exist I KNOW HER !!

  • Yeah, yeah. Like I said, if it's true his wife knows all about it. We women know ALL ABOUT you men.

  • filled the sky with love; last time i saw Leigh Bowery she was howling at the moon blaa laa da daaa! blah laa da daaa!...yeah; middle age is a trip now ain't it!

  • I never saw them as teen heartthrobs when i was big teen fan in the 80's; i saw them as the new John Lennon twins of the 80's...earthiness & depth in an age of industry plastic money mongering gone wild...love them still...Songs from the Big Chair is one of the greatest "sections of book" of my music youth bible...it all started in my childhood with the Beattles due 2 my mother; then Buddy Holly then the 80's

  • One of the greatest 500 songs in my lifetime! What a beautiful song! Tears For Fears still sound amazing after all these years. They've aged well, and their sound is still intact!

  • They are so funny! God I thought I would never stop laughing at Roland in the beginning!!! Besides this being like my favorite song on that album, I like what the song is about. Its like "love is blind" (it can't tell how old people are) Oh, and I know its on the CD too, but when Roland started like screaming or whatever at the end it was sooo funny!!!!! Sometimes I feel like the girl they are talking about lol. (no laughing at me)

  • They sure have changed a lot since their first album, the Hurting. If you compare this song to something like Memories Fade or Suffer the Children, they sound completely different then now.

  • well a close friend to me that knows roland told me that on this video he is actually talking about the girl he is in love with she is actually younger than him and i know her she is blonde and beautiful and always at TFF CONCERTS she is very shy and does not like cameras or pictures to be taken from her but i 've seen her from very close she is just beautiful pretty doll face but too shy too shy (no bad comments please)

  • Really? That's interesting but if this is true I don't think you should be posting it on comments his wife might see it.

  • Something tells me if it's true, his wife knows all about it.

  • I think his wife probably would've found out by now (LOL) But, I don't really think it was a person experience he was writing about.

  • I mean, Roland did take his wife and kids along on the last (ELAHE) tour, and took them to America with him while he and Curt finished up this album. When did he have time to be messing around?

  • LOL!

And of course I meant personAL experience on that last comment, art4life4me.

  • I have noticed times he's not wearing his wedding ring too, so I've often wondered if him and Caroline are still together, especially after hearing this song. It's obviously about a personal experience from the banter at the beginning.

  • I don't know, maybe all this slippin' and slidin' is why Roland had to get new front teeth?:0 But seriously, he mentions misplacing his wedding ring on another fan website. I very much doubt he would abandon wife and kids. He has too much to lose, as he says in another song. Girlfriends? could be.

  • they are old.....how sad...

  • Well they're not THAT old! Come on they're still cute! HAHA lol!

  • caN ANYBODY make ROLAND's age half...and make me older?....please

  • Age is just a number, dear, there you go!

  • Oh, wait, you are under age, I take that back.

  • My god thats exactly what I thought when I heard that song for the first time, jessicawafa, lol!!! Anyone?
