  • Good job

  • When I was 11 I found a block of wood in my cellar and using wood chisels I carved a Gladius not the most pretty thing but it was good for my first try.

  • I made a gladius using a jigsaw for cutting out the blade its harder with a jigsaw

  • awsome sword

  • i'm doing the same thing, but my resourses here at donaldson correctional are very restricted

  • Gladius pumpmyanus

  • what kind of metal and how much did it cost?

  • What kind of metal did you use?? Iron? Steel?

  • Excellent, good job.

  • That blade turned out excellent, i've seen a lot of people clam they know how to make a sword (with power tools) but when they finish it it looks horrible and not evenly ground but you my friend did an excellent job, that sword look;s gorgeous and you sure know how to use your tools properly, thanks for sharing *subscribes*

  • Sorry,I think it's a great job you did but I just have to say it...GLADIUS PUMPMYANUS...theeere we go...all better now

  • i'm doing the same thing........... except with a lawnmower blade......... i have no better steel.

  • did you heat treat it? how many grinding discs did you use?

looks like a nice sword. thanks for posting.

  • those tools are about as professional as it gets for stock removal without paying a few thousand

  • hello!

Érdekelne hogy mien anyagból és mien vastagságuból vágtad ki a penge alakját,és meddig tartott meg csinálni a gladiust?

    Köszi!

  • roman legions for life

  • Great video, very enjoyable and you made a nice blade there too considering non-pro tools.

    Wish I had the know-how

  • great result from workshop kit..love the scribe for the edge centre with a pencil at the beginning ... RESPECT.

  • Very nice work!

I'm a swordsmith and I forged a Gladius styled blade last year.

To see it visit our website

Awesome work for not having the traditional tools! :)

  • Thank you very much!

I would like to learn, the original way to craft a sword... but its not easy to find a kind swordsmith with tools for that :)

Now I'm traing to finish my Roman outfit alone. It takes years, but i'll do it ;)

  • @gabber700 watch a bunch of the blacksmithing videos on youtube and you'll learn pretty much everything you need to know

  • Another good steel is 5160 spring steel. Check your local auto junkyard and get an old leaf spring. Cut it or forge it down to size and stat a-grinding. When it is the desired shape, heat treat it with a vertical oil quench and temper in your oven.

  • YOu can use A2, O1 or the best 440C

  • Were can i get steel?

  • those tools look pretty professional to me, and why is there no sound?

  • they are tools any handy man uses

  • Hi!

There is no sound because the copyright law problems :) My chainmail vid ws banned ones because I used the soundtrack of Ben Hur. I dont know who had problem with that....

  • @vidgamer an angle gringer is the most proffesional i see and you can pick them up for about 20 bucks

  • What kind of steel did you use?

And where did you get it?

  • Written on the steel: 55Sicr

Its a spring steel, maybe not the best. The best steels for blades must contain high carbon contents.

  • where can i obtain steel like this, and is it expensive?

  • @gabber700 where did you buy it? how much?

  • @gabber700 actually spring steels are an excellent choice for making large blades like machetes and swords and many famous blacksmiths use them for making all kinds of blades meant for taking a lot of abuse,it's am all around excellent steel for making all kinds of blades
