I think Valve should soon develop a Half-Life 3 Engine. Or they can call it a Source-2 engine or something like that. All new games run off of source, and it's getting old for graphics. And, if you pay enough attention graphics are the same in Left 4 Dead and the one coming out. I would personally throw down some knowledge on developing it, but I doubt Valve will ever consider it. Especially in the near future. Condition-Zero:Source was supposed to be HL3, but Valve didn't come quick enough....
yeah they should make a new engine because i have left 4 dead, l4d 2 and the orange box so yeah the graphics are getting old and weird. and btw valve released half life lost coast and the graphic where amazing so yeah possibilitys that they are making a new engine
Btw, there are many games coming up that aren't available for either the Xbox or wii. Mainly because neither system does well for those brand of games. Such as MMO's and MMORPGs.
The PC beats the Xbox and Wii. Sorry to say but it does. A top of the line gaming PC may be more expensive than either of those game systems but they have a lot more gaming power to them. Not to mention the variety of other uses there are for PC's that the Xbox and Wii do not come close to having. PC's are unreplaceable. There will always be a PC and there will always be games for it. The only reason its lacking is because of Microsofts shitty latest operating systems.
They may have a lot more power to them, but some people aren't able to spend over ten grand for a better frame rate or more objects on screen. PCs have the most versatility, the consoles provide a far more cost-effective, easier solution.
You make a good point, i fell in love with pc gaming, it's some how different, and when you have a system that plays the most demanding games flawlessly it's so rewarding. but i have to say im back to playing my xbox 360 as thier aren't enough games on the PC that reward the people that have high spec rigs. and lets face it, your gunna need at least a £1500 pc just to play crysis 2 when it comes out. console gaming makes a little more sense
The pc will never be outdated. theres always new hardware and software available for pc and pc has the BIGGEST range of games. PC is more powerful than a console and can run better graphics depending on its specifications. There is no easier and better way to play first person shooters than a keyboard and mouse. everyone thought the wii was going to be good but then when you use the wii remote its shit this is more or less what will happen to project natal.
If they bring Starcraft and Warcraft to the PC they will BUTCHER them, RPGs dont play well on Consoles, at least not ones with masses of units like SC and WC.

I think you're a bit behind the times... I've got under $800 ina self-built PC and I'm able to run Crysis as well as its sequel Crysis: Warhead. Both run quite well on Vista Ultimate 64.
I'd recommend you check out the game, really. A friend with 2 XFX 9600gt's SLI'd runs everything maxed and limited at 70fps due to vsync, 9600's are far from top of the line. I'd be happy to get a screenshot for you to clear up your misconceptions if you like.
Piracy aside I blame the problem with PC gaming on Microsoft. Games for Windows is a joke, forcing Vista on gamers is outrageous (Halo 2 anyone), Valve did a better job with Steam to PC gaming, not even being affiliated with Microsoft. I don't think MS wants PC gaming dead, but they sure as hell don't know how to improve it nor give a crap. Seriously, if Microsoft closes its doors now it wouldn't even make a difference. PC games would be just adapted to Linux. Maybe it would even be better.

1. PC modding community is huge, its better, as we can tweak/customise our game on how we want? I wonder how many mods are there for consoles(LMAO), and those which exist you have to pay.
2. PC games are 10 dollars cheaper compared to consoles.
3.PC games are MORE profitable than consoles games, note the terms "profit". Consoles may make more money but interms of profit.
I disagree that console gamers are "kids". Consoles are more of a chill out on the the sofa kinda thing. I'm always guna prefere my PC but my 360 is still good for just chillin.

@xrikimarux, You need 6 parts, Motherboard, RAM, CPU, Graphics Card, PSU and Cooling. (A case would make it 7) And you can buy these decent parts for $1100 AU (Roughly $850 US). That will play crysis at 35 fps. Most other games 60 or above.
mother board, case, monitor, keyboard, mouse, (< im pretty sure you need those to play), ram, processor, graphic card, power supply, fan, sound card, hdd, disk reader, speaker, i also pefer network card (but you dont need), maybe a OS, idk if you want one but i dink and pretty sure you need one, unless your buying a major company computer like dell or hp, that is what i need for a computer, o ya for mouse, keyboard, headset i use RAZER..

i used to have a dell PC that was about 400 dollars and had a budget graphics card with a pentium 4
i could run crysis at medium settings and it was spot on to the 360s graphics
a PC games graphics can be mixed and matched i can pump the shaders up to high and take the texture detail to medium or low and it will still be like playing a 360
in the end though i could care less about graphics i just want a good game

Big companies prefer to market more toward consoles because they can charge rediculous ammounts for previous gen hardware and double the price for (more often than not) a weaker version of a PC game. Anyone with half a brain knows the PC is the best system its unfortunate that people are so easily misled by hype that they would prefer to pay more for what is essentially less.

What if Episode 1 and 2 came out with a longer time span from each other? Think about it. From Half Life 1 to Half Life 2 it took them like 2 years. Valve takes their sweet ass time and when they finally release it we just enjoy it too much to pay attention to the crap. L4D2 in my opinion was a huge disappointment. It's things we should've gotten in the updates as we were promised.
Man, the next Crysis would be a huge boon to the PC here at e3. At the same time, assuming it'd be running on CE3, would it necessarily be a PC exclusive...?

Both PCs and consoles have unique video games. There are titles on the Wii and XBox 360 that won't be out on PC and vice versa.
So, just play the games and have fun.
Remember, it's the GAMES; for PC games, you don't need the highest specs possible.

Blizzard brings WarCraft, StarCraft and Diablo over to the consoles, and EA brings the Sims over to the consoles.

I said run it *properly*. Even the hardest of hardcore $5000 Alienware PCs can't maintain 60fps at respectable resolutions and detail levels.

dude i have an ati radeon HD 4850
4 GB ddr2 dual channel ram 800 MHz
amd phenom X4 9550 (all cores enabled in vista premium 64 bit service pack 2)
asus M2N-E motherboard (i kinda cheaped out on that part)
this is not even CLOSE to top of the line and i can run crysis at high settings at about 78 frames....
last time i played anyway

@xrikimarux, You need 6 parts, Motherboard, RAM, CPU, Graphics Card, PSU and Cooling. (A case would make it 7) And you can buy these decent parts for $1100 AU (Roughly $850 US). That will play crysis at 35 fps. Most other games 60 or above.

mother board, case, monitor, keyboard, mouse, (< im pretty sure you need those to play), ram, processor, graphic card, power supply, fan, sound card, hdd, disk reader, speaker, i also pefer network card (but you dont need), maybe a OS, idk if you want one but i dink and pretty sure you need one, unless your buying a major company computer like dell or hp, that is what i need for a computer, o ya for mouse, keyboard, headset i use RAZER..

Unless your into MMOs or Strategy games your fucked if you dont own a console, i have a fairly decent rig that costed me well over 3500 Dollars, (i live in venezuela so that same rig over in the states would only cost like 750 Dollars) my X360 elite costed me 4 million Bs. (thats around 2000Dollars) and games are now in the 200 dollars league i also have a Wii and a PS3, a 42 inch HDVT and a 1000watts 5.1 home theather, EVERITHING COSTING ME 4 TIMES MORE, so STOP complaining ans start WORKING

i used to have a dell PC that was about 400 dollars and had a budget graphics card with a pentium 4
i could run crysis at medium settings and it was spot on to the 360s graphics
a PC games graphics can be mixed and matched i can pump the shaders up to high and take the texture detail to medium or low and it will still be like playing a 360
in the end though i could care less about graphics i just want a good game

I dont get them either, £600 console, or £200 on pc upgrades + cheaper games. Kind of a no brainer IMO.
Big companies prefer to market more toward consoles because they can charge rediculous ammounts for previous gen hardware and double the price for (more often than not) a weaker version of a PC game. Anyone with half a brain knows the PC is the best system its unfortunate that people are so easily misled by hype that they would prefer to pay more for what is essentially less.

What if Episode 1 and 2 came out with a longer time span from each other? Think about it. From Half Life 1 to Half Life 2 it took them like 2 years. Valve takes their sweet ass time and when they finally release it we just enjoy it too much to pay attention to the crap. L4D2 in my opinion was a huge disappointment. It's things we should've gotten in the updates as we were promised.
