  • @ampthompson10 I respect the troops but fuck that bigot Toby Keith and the hateful songs he makes

  • im doing this song in my chorus

  • I sung this for choir last year..I totally fell in love with it!(:

  • Awwwwww I'm singing this in chours:D

  • When my brother died in 2004, this song brought comfort to me.

  • On this date in 1970 {Feb. 28th} "Bridge Over Troubled Water" became the #1 record on Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; it stayed in the top spot for six weeks...

Won the 1971 Grammy for "Record of the Year" and "Song of the Year"...

  • what is wrong wit these 29 peoples?!?

  • He's got the voice of an angel.

  • R.I.P. Great-uncle Iain died of a heart attack, I was 13 now gonna be 15 in October. 1948-2010 :'( :(

  • this is as important and relative as the year itself. Apparently this song came to them they didn't actually think about a song and alas a historic moment happened.

  • The first time I heard this song, I was blown away. The second time was years later and I only vaguely remebered the first time, and I was blown away all over again! I think it is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard.

  • Timeless yes. But there is good music being done all around us if we take the time to listen. Being here in NM I have been privalaged to hear so many talented people do music. Just watch programs like the voice and you will see that there is so much potental. Music lives because of the fact that it is a Creative process.

  • I'm going through a rough time right now......... Been looking for some help. The other day, my daddy sang me this song. I never knew he cared

  • Love this...

  • i always get chills when i hear this song

  • Amazing!! Wonderful! I Love This song!! Thanks!!

  • Goosebumps...-3

  • This song always makes me cry.

  • Its what makes this duo so good. Paul wrote this to match Art's voice and boy, it does. Despite all their fall outs, they are just so good together.

  • How'd I go from listening to niggas I Paris to listening to this hahaha YouTube says these songs are related!!! 💛

  • Fall, 1969--Winter of 1970---grew up in dark, cold Utah where the winter nights are long and the days short. Depressing time for me (and the country, as well) and this song, as majestic as it is, is essentially a rather depressing song. I really can't listen to it without wanting to well up and cry. Song was written with a lot of emotion, that's for sure and it is definitely what one would call a paean to one's stream of consciousness.

  • @Andre98742

I feel the same way when I hear songs on the radio these days. I'm only 14, but I know when something is classified as music. In my definition, rap music is not considered music, just trash.

  • @LemonadeIcedTea01 im interested to hear your reasonings for why you think that. in my opinion some of it is trash but a lot of it is really good and has just as much passion and musicallity as this song does.

  • nice

  • 27 deaf/blind people dislike this

  • Beautiful song with beautiful lyrics!!

  • I cry when I listen to the song

  • I've just left my son in hospital. He's ok now but I just had to listen to this song as it brings peace to my heart and mind and makes me smile. It's so soothing.

    Wonderful!!

  • In our lifetime we love certain songs and i fall deep i mean deeply in love with particular pieces. This i think is my best ever and certainly ear-candy. I want to dedicate this song to my fellow soldier, a brother in arms Frank Dixon R.I.P brother x.

  • 27 people are fuckin deaf!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @bigian1877 you mean 33.

  • @starinsky215 They posted that comment a month ago. There was 27 dislikes at the time.

  • I was born in the wrong generation... Hate growing up listening to all this crap most other teens listen to... I'd much prefer to have grown up listening to this unlike the music nowadays. This has passion and comes from the heart and that's why I love it :) <3

  • simply amazing! paul simon may have the best voice I've ever heard.

  • @ashsingh525 No es Paul Simon, es Art Garfunkel...

  • @ashsingh525 that's Artie singing....

  • Beautiful lyrics ...... wonderful interpretation!!!!!!

  • Most beautiful number!

  • This song left me speechless I have no words to say how amazing it is.

  • une des meilleurs....

  • That was amazing...... NICOLE!(?)

  • i really love this song.....

  • @jhing53 do you...

  • @harrypotterfanbud if your going to upset people with your stupid opinion...then just keep it to yourself

  • One of the best songs of friendship and love ever composed and performed by this great Duo.

  • Anyone who thinks music has no soul these days has never heard Adele's "Someone Like You", or Ray Lamontagne's "Empty", or Kings of Leon's "Use Somebody" or a myriad of other songs. If you think music has no soul these days, move away from top 40 radio and you'll find it.

  • @MrCaseyBoudreau

...Haven't all of those artists been in the top 40? and.... and wasn't Someone Like you number one for ages? and... so was Use Somebody?

    \_(o.O)_/

  • @MrCaseyBoudreau I agree with you; I think that heavy metal has deep, furious soul in it, both bright and dark. Punk, classical, alternative rock, opera... these all have such depth and passion behind them, but some of them have a limited audience. I gave up on radio ten years ago and I have yet to fail in findings something wonderful to listen to.

Must say though, there are some great songs from the last 10 years that achieved mainstream success.

  • @MrCaseyBoudreau I like "Someone Like You" quite a bit, haven't heard the other two. I think Clocks by Coldplay is one of the best songs of the last decade. I've also fallen in love with a few songs through TV ads - Hello Gumption - Spinning As We Go; The Submarines - You, Me & The Bourgeoisie; Shiny Toy Guns' cover of Major Tom is phenomenal... I think each of these songs has a lot of passion and soul.

  • @MrCaseyBoudreau One word: Radiohead.

    100% soul.

Oh, and "Someone Like You" has been on top 40 radio plenty of times. So has "Use Somebody"

  • Comment removed

  • @MrCaseyBoudreau Move away from top 40 radio? you are aware that the adele and kings of leon song were all over the top 40

  • @MrCaseyBoudreau Adele & KOL is quite the pop music. Portishead - glory box and for example the group named Cinephile are really good and "underground" sounding.

  • So true...

  • I wanna thank you Nicole..Very well done video and sound quality is on top.I sent this video of yours to a very special friend of mine.Thank's

  • I feel that when paul simon wrote this song, his heart and mind were completely open to the feelings he had inside .. so the song came to him .. like a dream .. completed .. given to him .. just as Yesterday came to paul mccartney .. he woke up and there it was .. and this can happen to all of us .. if we think and dream about the things that really matter to us .. our own spiritual prayer .. if we listen to the person within ...

  • To all drug conspiracy theorists:

"...The line "Sail on, silver girl" is often reputed to refer to a needle (meaning the song is about heroin) but it actually refers to Simon's girlfriend (and later wife) Peggy Harper who found a few gray hairs and was upset. The lyric was meant as a joke - Simon calling her "Silver Girl" because of her hair. (thanks, Helen - York, England)"

    just google "Silver Girl songfacts"..

  • The best song about heroin ever!!! :D

  • Music is a message from the soul. Some people are much better translators than others. Some people want to send a message of Love, Peace, Hope and Happiness. Others send a message of anger and violence. Immerse yourself in beauty or shit. Its your choice what you listen to...

  • Very Beautiful

  • This was played at my Nan's funeral, over 7 years ago. I still cry now every time i hear it. :-(

    R.I.P NAN <3

  • There was an ad for MW3 before this vid played, which is weird, because call of duty is horrible, and simon and garfunkel are norse gods in their own rights.

  • This is one of the songs that we all recognise from our childhood. Well i do anyway... so now i've found it for real now i'm 15 and now i'm old enough to listen to it properly, it's beautiful. <33

  • What is the meaning of the "Silver Girl" in the top of the third verse?

  • I love you Que... R.I.P

  • If this doesn't move you, you have no soul.

  • Elvis is better

  • @HarryPotterfanbud

Thats just to far Mr Harry Potter fan

  • @LeeRoy5804 I'm a girl

  • @HarryPotterfanbud

  • This Is a such a lovely song, love Bridge over a troubled water.

  • look at morten harket singing this song..he is great! really a fantastic song with meaning!

  • I don't have words for this. It's just amazing!

  • MUSIC IN THE 50'S, 60'S, AND EARLY 70'S IN ALL GENRES WAS SO MUCH BETTER THAN TODAYS. NONE CAN MATCH THE HEART IN THOSE SONGS.

  • @Wildflower4e Thank-you Wildflower. I am so grateful to have you in my life. YAME

  • i couldn't agree more with pr2840's response, this is how music should be.

i just wish modern artists could could put some proper soul into their music. (:

  • no one compairs to their greatnss

  • Oh my balls...This is MUSIC!

    Melody + Rhythm + Soul...

  • Beautiful :) This is music

  • beautiful

  • In my opinion Paul Simon is the best melody maker of his generation.

  • @Sadtune1 this is actually art garfunkles creation

  • @5150ramjet Simon actually wrote it...and told Garfunkle his voice was suited best to sing it.

  • For Stacy. With love. xxx

  • when i listen this song i remember you i make a lot of troubled in my life but your still there for me thanks for being a good best friend, i know theres a reason of everything that is why im still here i know you love me so much and i love you too

  • I Want To Cry Right Now!

  • @pr2840 i blame teh obamas

  • MY BEST FRIEND.. SENT ME THIS SONG... KNOWING HOW I AM SO UPSET... KNOWING THAT HE IS THERE FOR ME... MEANS THE WORLD TO ME... IM SO GRATEFUL TO HAVE HIM ... IN MY LIFE !!!!!

  • The dislike bar is bigger than Justin Bieber's penis!

  • @orliejay12 What bar? What? Exactly? What do you mean exact- aahhh! :D

  • @orliejay12 this video doesnt have anything to do with Justin Bieber so take your ranting elsewhere.

  • @pr2840 It isn't the computers. Music these days has no soul to it because it's all about money. If someone puts real feeling into a song, it will be a beautiful song no matter the medium used to create it.

  • @BassMakesPaste yes sir

  • @BassMakesPaste Its always been about the money, people where just much more creative then

  • What genre is this?

  • @jadaarcher4 Fucking awesome thats what, but id say soft rock

  • @jadaarcher4 The We're not trying to make a bundle of money kind.

  • Anyoneone watch the tv show about how this song was made? It was on just the other night and ~Paul came into the studio one afternoon and said he thought he'd written a tune which could be really good. He played it thru', the other guys in the studio listened, got a hold of it, messed around on the mixer with it and each put their input in. One said it needed a third verse, 'cos Paul had at that time only written two, Paul disagreed at first but wrote it there and then, and Bridge was born !

  • 23 people obviously have bad taste in music.

  • You can't beat their music and the folk singers of the 60s and early 70s

  • such a moving song!

  • the song is such it can be about whatever you wissh it to be, I have witnessed the very presennce of God fall as this song is sung and thats what it means to me, and a lot of people who need lifting!

  • dashbdconfess you are very intellegent when all the other comments don't have a clue what the song is about. it is about drugs and the fact the drugs will ease the troubles and difficulties of everyday life. a bridge will keep you safe from the rough water (WET AND COLD) drugs will keep you in a false ,happy, serene, eurphoric ,little happy world. it will ease your mind. so it says. untill the problems become unmanageable .not a funeral. a tranquility that one seeks and then reality hits. try God

  • @boolovestoys1 In all fairness, they'd sung the chorus one night and it was so good, they sung it twice in a row and it was so good, and they built the song around it. There are different interpretations of the song, I personally don't listen to this song and think of drugs.

  • My father passed out yesterday at 64 and I chose this song to be played at his funeral.

Very touching song and meaningful lyrics, I'll never forget him. May God bless his soul.

  • makes me cry everytime. this is the type of song that you can't get out of your mind once you heard it and it puts you in a wierd mood making you see the world differently.

  • This song is about a pusher, a "silver girl," which is 60s slang for a syringe. The bridge, symbolically, is the drug user's guide to withdrawal and the water is the turbulent rapids of day-to-day life.

  • i literally cannot express how much this song touches my heart. i just cant, its so beautiful.

  • My mother just told me to make this our theme song :)

  • Just before my sister, Melody graduated from high school in 1979, she sang the song solo at Indianola High School Swing Chior concert. I attended the junior high. The next day at my school, I heard people say what I great voice Melody has. The song helped Melody to shine.

  • Simon and Garfunkel......one word AMAZING

  • I raped the repeat button .. so much .. No one can copy the notes .. Bow down to the genius.

  • @pr2840 you know what? you're right.let us live to the fullest my friends and enjoy things in our 80 years of life while we can. Bless you Simon & Garfunkel, Bless you. :")

  • itzz such a beautiful song.. a lil slow but soothing

  • This song brings back memories, to the time when I was with my birth mother. I love my adopted family; but, I always wonder about my birth family. Simon & Garfunkel always bring back memories!

  • this song is great i love it.

  • this song is great

  • I just dedicate this song to someone..my beloved friend..I hope she has more courage and strength inspite of all the "chaos" surrounding in her life. I care for her..

  • One of the best ever..Love the piano. And especially the last verse.i sang this in choir .A long time of go.... because i am old haha.3rd grade,Have never forgot it.Know the lyrics by heart

  • this will beat rap and hip-hop anyday.

  • what abeautiful back drop! very special song to me! thank you!x

  • MUFFINS!!!???

  • Grew up singing along with this song. Knew the words by heart. Came to me this morning, like a message from my son, Ryan, who died very unexpectedly at the age of 28 from a pulmonary embolism on Sept. 3, 2011. Message received, Ghostrider ~ Carry on!

  • i have to do pta and i dnt know d lyrics

  • @fuckingguapo Jesus doesn't excist. Neither does Santa- Easter Bunny or the toothfairy... grow up

  • @1997snakekid how bout George Washington? The fact Jesus existed on is a matter of historical fact.

  • @imbonnie I'm not being racist or anything- I just find it hard to believe that there is the possibility of Jesus existing. I mean I'm just starting Ethics at school and each time I walk into class I believe less and less there was a Jesus because it contradicts itself too many times. I used to be a full on, baptized, carried a bible everywhere christian and the school ruined it...

  • @1997snakekid Why don't you get the book "Padre Pio: A True Story." perhaps that will help.

  • @1997snakekid not only do you need to go to church you need to go back to school and learn how to spell

  • @tdhughes429 Out of the thirteen words I typed I got ONE wrong- sue me...Besides, it's school that has turned me against Christianity anyway so I'd gladly go back. Ethics has taught me that the Bible contradicts itself too many times for it to be true. It's a fairy tale people make up so that they don't think about the reality of everything too much and become like Charlie Sheen... lol

  • @1997snakekid

Jesus as a person, like Gandhi, existed. The Romans kept excellent tax records, and there are several mentions in their logs referring to Jesus as a trouble maker, regarded similiarly to Che Guevara.

Jesus as a God? now that's an entirely different story.

  • Senior year of high school. Brings back memories! Good and not so good. Song says it----life goes on, if you're lucky you got a few people that care!

  • what realm birthed this upon us ...

  • Brillian song

  • A very powerful song!

As an older person I have to say “they don’t make songs like this anymore” lol,

The vocal range is very hard to emulate, try and sing the song yourself, you will run out of air and pitch

  • amazing song! this song has alot of significance for personal reasons. @3:45 - as the drum kicks in, that really clenches the heart!

  • my guitar teacher taught me this song, five years later he dies of lung cancer, i still play this song daily

  • i remember my dad use to sing this to me when i was young and when i was a little older we use to sit on the living room floor next to the cd player and just sing our hearts out... good memories brilliant song beautiful lyrics x

  • so good

  • i have to sing this song for a concert at school :D
