Uhm. I was reading the book, future of an illusion, and Sigmund happened to mention the "AS-IF" philosophy. I couldn't quite comprehend it entirely, if someone could explain this to me in a message or provide a link/search it would be greatly appreciated

Unbelievable explanation, congrats, remarkably scientific and supported by facts! If you could understand Freud's Theory you would find what the church do to your mind, playing with your unconscious fears to make you a "soldier of Christ", driving you to be a slave of religion (which we all know have caused the major troubles in the world) and take your money! Wake up, humans were born in the Garden of Eden, we have to find our way out, through knowledge and social development.

This is mostly an auditory and visual nice experience, the theory presented is so superficial that it is basically worthless. Actually most of psychiatry and psychology and psychotherapy is to have you diverted from the truth about yourself and what you actually experienced and felt and thought in childhood.

@tallerbruce Really? I find most of Sigmund's findings to be spot on with my childhood, and I do find the father complex to be very prevalent in many, many people. What "truths" are they diverting me from?

would be nice if the poster had given a link to a website that had the original slides.

i find all this stuff interesting. mostly nonsense, but still interesting analogies for the undefinable and chaotic processes that are really taking place. you can't reduce something as complex as a neural network with 100's of billions of nodes and quadrillions of interactions to a set of simple rules.
