Awesome video! Thank you! They didn't do the last (best?) verse, which is particularly heart-wrenching...
"I recall the night we knelt and prayed; noticing your face was thin and pale;
I felt it hard to hide my tears. I felt ashamed, I felt I'd let you down..."
The first time I heard this song, I was 14, baby-stting for a single mom of two boys. I went through her albums (duh), and found Every Picture Tells a Story. When I heard this song, I wept. And still do, 40 yrs later.
Rod Stewart has always been my favourite. Love all his songs Have seen him many times, most recently this Wednesday February 15th 2012 in Sydney. Can't understand why there were so many old people there!!!! Wish he'd just once sing my favourite song Mandolin Wind in concert. It's the line....Don't have much but all I have is yours etc...is just amazing... totally romantic!
When you listen to this song you realise just how clever the structure of it is. The peaks and troughs of it are simply unique. There's no other song quite like it. Rod at his best!
Takes me back to simpler times, neighborhood bbq's, friends, listening to 'New' songs on the radio. Time goes by soooo fast, these songs help me recall the times and the feelings I knew at that moment!

1972, my final year of high school and Rod Stewart was playing on my stereo, just like he's playing on my computer right now.
The man and his music are cutting through even more generations of music lovers of the good ol stuff.
I saw Rod and Faces (with Ron Wood) in concert in 1975 and it was great!
